>using shit soda as the leading pic of the day
How sad.
First for better choice.

See filename.

It is sort of IVAN-related.

>He doesn't know

user.

i was just saying that a dragon pit would have way better loot

Jesus christ, never play short blades users unless you're a Vine stalker. Even Uskayaw can't salvage them because I've can't even scratch the skeletal warrior pack on d:11 and also this annoying fucking vampire who I've kiting for the past 10 years.

This is so shit that I'm considering just ctrl+Q'ing

>+2 venom dagger instead of switching to a real sword for a second
your own fault

user, rapiers are short blades too.

>all i wanted was a goddamn pepsi and she wouldn't give it to me

I killed it with a lucky sack of spiders evoke which let me distract stab it, thank fucking god.

Anyway, guess I'll go pick up the scimitar on d:10 if Usk can't be played 100% short blades then.

Melial and swarm of bees the floor up, what do.

explore carefully on lair:5, until you find an upper staircase and then press X and then press [ on the staircase(or was it ]) to look up the staircase to see what's up there before ascending.

Use a magic mapping if you want.

Have you tried not playing nucrawl

this is what roguelikes have become. brb ending myself

If you don't like it, why are you posting about it
why even acknowledge its existence

I personally prefer tummy roguelikes

500 damage manastorms suck even when yer a drgn

but he never summoned anyone, so that was super.

Is Chei good for casters?

+3 ring of slaying or save the gold? I cleared Orc now and scored an rN+ D+3 shield for 256 gold.

Talking about EO, I just discovered that a translation for 7th Dragon DS exists!!!! Now I just have to find that damn R4....

Chei is for hybrids.

Scratch that, I went with my own free will and gambled on a randart pair of gloves. Without them I have MR++, with just the +. How do I look?

Always pick whatever benefits your character at the moment, if you have no other good rings and you think your damage needs a boost then sure, get the +3 ring of slaying. Gold is plentiful anyway.

that's shockingly fair of him
any useful drop?

mr+ is pretty dangerous, one paralyse can end your run pretty easily, or a banishment.

Those gloves aren't THAT godly, so I wouldn't wear them, since you'll be meeting hexers and banishers fairly often and one bad dice roll and you're fucked unless you have mr+++

not really, just the charmed pendant. Can't use it yet or ever because I have a resist hole without my current amulet. It's not something I'd switch my setup for.

Righto. I have some gloves of dex from Oka so I'll go with that. Should I do Shoals or Spider first? I can get a + of rPoison and rCorr if it matters for Spider.

>250 ft
>still havent found a stack of arrows
Fuck you RNG

spider for sure, shoals is the hardest of the 4 lair branches.

OOOOOOOOHHHH BABY

Oh right, I forgot about that.
You need a dwarf to detonate the grenade or else everyone will be on your ass.

>Want to get into RLs
>DCSS is considered babby's first must win
>Play MiBe to learn the game
>Autoexploring and mashing the directional key into every enemy I come across

I don't think this is a good way to learn something

why are you using shortblades on a character without a reliable stab-enabler
stab is the only thing shortblades are good for

>good type for some reason
im pretty sure in one of Lovecraft's stories he helps the protagonist dude beat up Nyartholep

I thought I'd go with something a bit more exotic than the usual axe user + okawaru/makhleb so I decided to do Uskayaw + short blades, I was hoping that paralyze stabs would trigger fast but that requires a ton of invo with Uskayaw so I'm just using a scimitar now and using the dagger as a switch for uskayaw paralyze stabs.

I've already become a hybrid, using a bow to attack on top of my ice spells.

Should I really start dumping points in bows or just fighting and my spells?

i don't think the str is worth the MR

maybe keep them on in poisony branches like spider/snake, but ditch them otherwise

play feanor, use the one free smithing perk to just turn every forge into a pile of free arrows

>beating up tiny noodle anime girl
What a monster.

>play feanor
EDAIN PRIDE
You wont make me play a filthy elf

Stay pure, user!

You know, If I had several hours to spare I'd watch Dicks' MuMo vods again. They're really something.

how do you pronounce Oberon?

there's a guy with the same name in Sword Art Online but he calls himself o-BAY-ron and it really weirds me out

I don't really get the point of halflings desu, they're like melee spriggans without the speed. One wrong step and your tiny sliver of hp just melts away, what the fug senpai.

>watching sub-par anime
they're one of the strongest races. You just need to learn how to use their versatility.

>only 20 EV even with the % bonus from being a small race
what the h*ck user, are you even training dodge
halflings get really tanky because of their good apts in armor/dodge and their racial EV bonus

I say "oh-burr-awn," pretty close to "over on"

>Sword Art Online

HET

Oh-bear-on

What the hell, I was XL4, got to the second level of the mines and suddenly, snakes and killer bees and ants and other nasties EVERYWHERE.
Good thing I had charm monster. Henceforth I was the leader of a small army of critters, until I got seperated from the pack by a trap door and a nasty woodland elf decided that I should be dead.

All I wanted to do was keep my kitten alive until Minetown and see if I could get Magicbane ;_;

>using a dagger for anything besides stabbing

FAULT

the only japanese animes i have watched are SAO and yuru yuri

Also
> inventory full of wands, rings, amulets
> no fountains, altars etc anywhere
> don't use anything because fuck having to deal with potentially cursed items
> die
> everything turns out to be uncursed or blessed items that could have helped keep me alive
> next game
> try everything on
> cursed ring of levitation, amulet of strangulation
gg

stabbers or spellcasters are much better for learning. just be prepared to die a lot to learn.

>death yak and ugly thing packs before I even find the lair entrance
>no rpois
help

use you are pet to curse-test items user

ARGHH
Needless to say I'm a fucking noob, I keep forgetting about some mechanic as soon as I learn a new one. My previous 5 characters died because I kept forgetting about Elbereth.

>teleport away
>two headed ogre guarding the orcish mines
help

just tab it
believe in yourself

I survived thanks to ice beasts, but I've had to blink, teleport and more to lose the death yaks.
Turns out they were guarding the lair entrance with those, what a sick joke. I'm not sure if I should even get to the lair as a chei worshiper and no rpois

MiBe is actually a great way to learn at least Crawl (if not all RLs) but not for the reason you think.

Minotaur Berserker is the species-class-god setup where you need the least amount of caution -- HOWEVER, you still need a fair amount of caution to win. Once you learn to win a fairly invincible setup like an endgame MiBe with heavy armor and strong+fast weapons, it'll be much easier to play cautiously with different races and classes.

It quite literally is similar to a baby: you go about learning the game with little caution, and the pain of splatting (especially when you're playing too confidently) will teach you to be more careful.

Remember kids, when someone lacks a resistance, take advantage of it.

Got Iceform, and i still want to run the fuck away.
However, the entire floor will be INFESTED with bees then.

Senpai, there's no point taking that many on. Just go up and take a different staircase and hopefully you can go pick and them off as they disperse throughout the floor.

I'm level 5 and have 1210 gp to my name, but hopefully I can get a few useful from this black market before they disappear, namely -Teleport Other, _Teleportation, !Healing

I always thought Uskayaw was a meme, but holy fuck is it strong with an amulet of faith and 10+ invo.

I've nearly splatted 5 times now but I'm managing to survive. I'm still at the Lair and was able to kill hydras but could someone confirm that I'm not doing something extremely stupid with these skills and weapon?

nnnnnice

i didn't even know she had that gigantic gaping resist hole

the power and failure rate of spells is based on the average of the relevant schools. you should have at least some points in charms/hexes/summoning, especially because the low levels of them are about 1/18th the xp cost of 1 more level in ice magic right now

That's what I usually did but I remember someone linking a succesful hybrid that basically only put points in one main skill.
Guess I'll dump some more points in charms and summoning.

There's not really much point doubling up on bows AND conjurations, since you're splitting your exp 2 ways for basically the same effect.

I would put some points into charms/summoning and then focus on fighting/dodging/armour.

That's what I feared.
My game generated tons of frost resistant undead and I'd often run out of mana even pelting down monsters not resistant to it.
Being fragile, wearing a robe and only relying on ozocubu for AC I decided to grab a bow to help me kill weaker and ice-immune creatures until I could reliable use icicle and it certainly helped me so far. But I guess that for the endgame it's not that viable.

Where's the dungeon for the warg quest in poschengband?

What species is that? I can't figure out from its apts

the wargs are on floor 5 of Stronghold, which is the one just outside of the starting town, near where the bandit entrance was

first time I've gotten one of these as the warg quest reward shield, not bad!

in the PCB arena, if you die there, do you die for real? Can you escape somehow?

Yes, a hit squad arrives to your house to take you out. No one escaped so far

Here? It says it's Camelot.

what version number are you on? It used to be Camelot, but then that was split into two dungeons, Stronghold (only 15 deep) right there, and Camelot a ways to the south

but yeah it will be in there in your version

also damn I miss when it used to display your class and title in the stats sidebar...was better for thread image sharing

It's version 3.5.1, downloaded this since it was displayed as the "stable" version.

I recruited a cursed dog in OWH and it kept doing damage to me but couldn't be attacked, forcing me to chuck gear I liked at it to kill it

share similar dumb stories plz I want to laugh at stupid people.

Frog, from the experimental branch.
Basically a human that moves slow and gets an inaccurate blink (hop) ability.

Now im about to die to a single death yak, woo

gotcha. 5.0.3 is quite stable, though it is on the other side of an interface change so I suppose that's why chris sorted it separately. Works fine though.

Oh, is this the latest forced in-joke as a result of a dumb off-topic argument?

see it came up last thread

Fug, splatted after a complete shitshow in shoals:4 where I burned a ton of resources and then tried to tab through a horde in vaults:3. I did have like 4-5 blink scrolls but at that point I didn't really give a fuck.

Halfling's fragility is complete dicks, I'll just roll Axes + Okawaru next time, and stick to the stairs like glue, since that's apparently the only way you don't get your ass completely pounded as a low HP species that uses melee.

We will be able to play BaNe and BaBe after all!

Due to some poor planning there are two different things named "arena" in PCB.

In the Telmora arena, dying just dumps you back in town with 0hp (and you lose a lot of fame and get permabanned from future arena fights), but in the arena _dungeon_ dying is real

pepsi isn't an /rlg/ in-joke it's an IVAN joke

did you know that a whip made out of pepsi is the ultimate, most powerful weapon

if you get a pet archon and disable "allow attack spells" and "allow summon spells" in the pet menu, it will just spam globe of invulnerability forever

hmmm

neat tech

so, it's literally pepe the frog.

i love peep the reddit amphibian!

This is exactly the Frog race I was playing on that experimental branch.
Makes for some more forgiving Chei playthroughs than naga.

FYI the Olympians are a bunch of major pricks. Clearly not intended to be fun.

balls

just spend half of my money on an amulet that activates for Holiness, only to learn that it isn't actually in the ring's castable spell list

if you do codey stuff it's pretty easy to add I think. Nivim did this with a lot of effects for himself. IMO it's more chris oversight than a balance thing.

Transmutilator also works decently.
