It's really not even that hard. Roach math is just basic addition. Even a gradeschooler could do it.

I guess it takes a little thought to hold the board until you can make a combo but it's pretty simple, bounce your cards with soccermoms. Evolve Feenas and EPM's too build combo cards.

If you don't get the combo try to outvalue them by bouncing tias repeatedly to exhaust their deck.

Sometimes you'll be screwed by draws but this is true of ANY deck.

Monika is fantastic, but she pollutes the 5 pp and Commander pool for Sword even further, so I can see why some people don't run her.
Art of the Ninja there's not really any excuse not to use.

the left is a more standard list with liches and shit to let you beat down, the right is a more grinder variant that heavily relies on mordecai since more of its early game is removal i.e. strictly survival-oriented with no ability to push
regardless of what general chassis you choose i would go for the 3 mord 2 nep split as opposed to 2/3, it's cheaper vialswise and pre-emptively makes you more resilient against odin once you start running into nep counters.
ofc not having the third nep will hurt in some matchups when you would want to have drawn mordecai + effects instead of just mordecai, but it's an obstacle that master players can overcome and there's no reason you shouldn't be able to do the same

roach math gets confusing when you need to take into account mana, board space and which of the card intervals are actually damage.

A lot of roach math is psychological, too. You're under a bit of pressure to think it over as fast as possible, and you're probably a little tilted with "wooooooow his draws were SO PERFECT and mine were SO SHIT"

It's not that bad, but it's still harder than most other (and arguably all other) decks.
