ITT: car brands that went from god tier to utter trash in last 20 years

then
>fun and affordable sportscars
>reliable daily drivers
>beautiful design
>Skylines

now
>either disgusting crossovers/SUVs or piece of shit compacts/electric
>only sportscar is the GT-R and 370Z, first being expensive and latter rather boring

>businesses change with the people.
Says a lot about the consumers, doesn't it

>Regulations an safety 35 years ago
>Regulations and safety today
>Affordable sport cars

Holden
Ford au
Mitsubishi
Toyota
Renault
Audi
Volvo
Dodge
Fiat
Chrysler
Jeep
Vag
VW
Mercedes
Lamborghini
Porsche
GM Europe
Ford global
Vauxhall UK
Lotus
McLaren post the P1

Who else am I leaving out here?

Alfa romeo could be one.
They went old names for the sake of nostalgia and fiat platform for their small cars, which alfa was always known for.

B-but muh quadrofolio

BMW

GMC.

They lost their balls a long time ago

>misspells it
How accurate, even if it wasn't on purpose.

> Implying GMC was ever relevant.
About as relevant as Holden or AMC.

Damn phone what the fuck is it called? Worst car name since the koinsegg mcsmeg
Sadly they are the worst of the euro bunch ATM quality dropped through the floor horror interiors as well
:(

Everything started to go to shit around 1999-2002

Plz no it hurts too much.

Holden and Ford au made some awesome cars right up until they died this year and no direct replacement from Ford or GM is the worst kick in the gut since the GFC cull post 2006

Quadri(four)-foglio(leaf)

Veeky Forums car confirmed

AMC was too good for this world

t. Europoor

Plz no I can't handle the feels they where the first aus Auto company to die

bmw
volkswagen/audi

That's last 14 years tho

Blame 2001 for that.

And 2006 gfc

>Porsche

The boxer and cayenne and every new dct downsized shitboxes

bruh, Volvo had the S60R and V70R until 2006.

Volvo died after the 240 this is undeniable

who else aren't you leaving out

The 911 is still a modern classic and the 718 is an affordable feat of engineering. They are also extremely reliable and best out almost all of the shitbox manufacturers like Nissan in reported engine problems. Just because they sell muh crossover doesn't mean that they're bad, they're just trying to keep their income up because women love crossovers.

Suzuki
Honda
Peougot

>beautiful design
They just looked like everything else in the time period.
retards don't seem to realize at a given time most cars look alike.

>Peougot
But they went to utter shit with the 206, though they seem to be getting back on track.

Mitsubishi
Then:
>Turbo stuff everywhere
>Eclipse (US), Evo and FTO (overseas)
>Decent trucks and SUVs

Now:
>Mirage which takes cheap to new levels
>Lancer, need I say more
>Literally everything else (in America at least) is a fucking crossover

They were never great, but they were often good, and their lineup today is pedestrian in the worst way.

Why does every modern car have to have the curved look in the hood/windshield/roof with grooves on the sides?
Probably a nostalgiafag thing to ask and not already understand by now but I'm sure there's a real reason in the safety/aerodynamics and not just modern aesthetic shit for marketing

Ped safety.

Crush zones.

Structural and packaging requirements.

Don't worry the next set of safety requirements will require driver aids and autonomous driving assists you can't turn off on public roads.

Oh and driver cams and driver monitoring as well as remote control and kill switch.

Half of the super exotic and expensive cars already have this shit it just has to trickle down into base models for it to be considered standard.

As if iPads in the dash wherent bad enough

Old Holdens were just 2nd hand muscle cars, never as cool or fast as their American counterparts.

AMC made some cool designs, can't deny that.

GMC is stupid.

>not posting the best AMC car

>Not posting the cutest AMC car

Honda

>Old Holdens were just 2nd hand muscle cars
what was the american counterpart of the torana or monaro? fucking idiot

>decide to check what nissan is up to these days
>type nissan.com and hit enter
>bruhh

OOO OOO I KNOW THIS

The sloped design of the windshield and thickened A Pillars makes the roof structurally stronger while saving weight, allowing the car to pass US safety regulations that require the roof to support the dead weight of the car resting on it while upside down.

Monaro was just a smaller muscle (Like the Nova), and the Torano isn't even muscle.

They never made any legendary cars like American muscle.

AMC was third rate garbage much worse than the big 3

Honda
