Corolla, Civic, Mazda3 are all incredibly reliable. For my money, if get the Mazda. But those are all around $20000 (USD).
A Ford Fiesta has a bad reputation for reliability, but almost every failure is attributable to the auto transmission. Get a manual and 95% of the reliability issues go away. You can sometimes find a stripped out, no options, Fiesta for close to $13000 (USD) with incentives. That's a steal for a new car that drives halfway decent.
One that haven't been preowned by a woman or a nigger
get a base model fiesta hatchback for 13k, full warranty and all, will be dead reliable and even if something goes wrong youll just take it to the dealer.
much better than buying a 3k civic that has had 12 owners and looks, smells, drives like shit

$500 will get you one of these glorious bastards, and $1000 will get you one with less than 100k miles. Oh yeah, and the body panels are plastic and the bumpers are damn near indestructible.
All good-tier except the Metro and Cavalier.
