Toyota's approach is conservative - they start with a solid design and refine it over and over until it shines like a diamond (metaphorically speaking). That doesn't mean they don't have known issues, just no clusterfucks.

The J70 series Toyota trucks that are fucking everywhere in Africa and the ME are a very special breed that Toyota hasn't been able to match with successive generations. They aren't even trying anymore, because they're only interested in chasing yuppie and soccer mom money with their newer platforms. Modern Toyota is pathetic.
