I played this game near launch for a couple months
and enjoyed the gameplay and crafting but because the grindiness i had
to drop it as uni needed more of my time
Is it still as grindy? especially the crafting?
Any huge changes?
Do i need the expansions?

Crafting is still grindy, they've reduced a fair bit of the grind otherwise through general qol stuff and alternate levelling methods.

You'll only need the expansion if you a) want to play au ra or b) finished the ARR msq right up to the moment before HW kicks off and want to keep playing.
