To everybody from Finland: This year, there is a Finnish runner in AGDQ. He's Vallu111 (just Vallu in schedule) and he will take part in the SMS-race at 4:44AM on wednesday and he'll run SMG2 at 5:02PM on saturday. :)

that cringey moment when the speedrun is really basic and doesn't have any interesting strats but the staff are obligated to pick out 3-4 moments for each run to consider "hype" ahead of time so they pick things that aren't remotely hype at all but the monitor flashes hype and some spergs in the audience go along and awkwardly force a cheer

Speed running is the art or science of getting through a video game in the quickest possible time. It is tremendous fun, and lots of people do it. Here are some tips for getting started.

1 Decide if you're going to do a new game or alternate mode run.

2 Start off with the shortest possible path, and work off from there.

3 Skip as much as possible.

4 Go through all the weapons, moves, combos, etc.

5 Look for speed-enhancing tricks that allow the character to travel faster by rolling, jumping, side-strafing, flying, running faster, etc.

6 Look in particular for glitches.

7 Look for every trick you can find.

8 Practice.

9 When you've gotten a good enough time, or are doing a good enough run, record it and put it on-line.
