when i was in soviet china, the commies preferred big audis

whats a good 25+ year old comfy commie shit box?

preferably right at 91'

Lada Niva

Pretty much the only commie shitbox that is still being made since 1977. They've changed a few things to fit with the rest of the west aswell, but surely you can find older models.

Also look-up Aro. May be rarer and expensiver, but heard they were pretty solid.

propably a Favorit should'nt be a very problematic car

but it depends what do you expect from a car

Ayy, I still see a Favorit every once in a while on the street, even the pickup version.

You can also find Yugos for probably a decent price but most likely you'll have to import it from Serbia, although they did have a pretty nice export, Yugos being sold even in the US.

>Niva
>comfy

Niva is rough as shit bruh

I was about to say, isn't there a Lada coupe or sedan that would be more comfy?

>china
>commie

these people are about as far from commie as is possible to be

that's not a 1.1 btw
it just has the American market alloys

...

1974 GAZ-24

don't forget classic soviet mods for maximum comfy

Where can I get one of those shift knobs?

The only pre-91 soviet coupe you can get is the 2108, which is more or less a crap version of a 3rd gen civic.

>tfw no lada with S13 underbody swap
youtube.com/watch?v=Jks9ZF-YS0I

here's a VAZ

You have to find someone in Russia or Ukraine to buy and ship one to you.

Fun fact: it's easier to find a Gaz-21 in good condition than a Gaz-24 even though the latter was produced for twice as long and in higher quantities.

bump

We don't really have them nowdays. I mean there are some worn out i see once in a while, but you can't just go to the car shop and buy them.
Ausies do cool knobs with spiders in them. You can find them on ebay.

Looking at the 2016 niva as a dd
y/n?

Who are you trying to trick here, Ivan? Only russians call it Niva. Everybody else call them Lada 4x4

Make it yourself, comrad'.

Shit, wrong reply.

DO NOT buy yugo if you don't live in the balkans, just don't, they will all be shit and need repairs and you'll have to buy parts that are impossible to find

don't
As much as I like niva myself, it's a terrible car for the road. Suspension is very bad

A few are still made for retrofags, and it's not impossible to get genuine Soviet ones at flea markets.

restoshop.com.ua/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=215
avtoall.ru/ruchka_na_rychag_kpp_dekorativnaya__roza_-092744/

Also it has fuck all for safety (no belt tensioners, no airbags, no crumple zones, no ABS or traction control), on a highway it's pretty much the most unsafe commie car you can get - even Yugo is better since it doesn't roll that easily.

I think the new ones do have those things

at least the new urban edition

Why are you talking about Niva like it supposed to stay stock?
Only old russian grandpa would drive stock niva, everybody else buy them as a base for offroad tuning.

new one has abs and maybe airbags — that's it. Body is incredibly rigid for compression and incredibly weak for twisting, it just doesn't work.

Why would you want it anyway? I understand it's aesthetically pleasing and kinda retro, but it's still sadly shit.

Anyway, where are you from?

Because he wants to buy it for a DD, idiot.

who else /zapo/ in here?
Deng Xiaoping betrayed the revolution and the people to the imperialists and capitalists tho
That shift knob looks legitimately nice, although a bit decadent.

Then you are calling an idiot the wrong man .

21s with the deer on the hood are rarities though.
Sadly.

They finally got ABS and front seatbelt tensioners somewhere around 2010. Airbags are still considered a bourgeois excess, and nothing can fix shit stability and ancient body design that doesn't take accidents into account.

The deer is like 100-200 bucks

that's just a fiat, bro

>implying Fiats aren't honorary commiemobiles
The Riva is a Fiat too.

LOL!
Just no!

Shame we bombed them...

F U C K N A T O

yeah it was really good until the dev decided that mud was actually lube and now the car slides around like a greased sardine in a bucketd full of jelly rendering it almost unplayable.

...

AYYY

Is there any sites in English for shit old Russian car parts?

ladaniva.co.uk/baxter/topten.htm
Just mostly Lada Niva parts

...

Very nice.
I plan to buy one in UK.
What to look for when buying one?

Is the meme that commie cars are indestructible true?

Holy shit, as I Niva owner I thought I had been through that website fully at least twice but never noticed that page!

>ywn make a trip through russia, china, and eastern europe buying cheap shitboxes to send home.

Indestructible with correct maintenance and correct spares. Sadly even in Western countries that falls short and a poor reputation is made.

suck me commies.enjoy your ridiculous pieces of shit.
2.5 I6 reporting in (pretty much a hypercar for commies)

Is there an Equivalent of Ebay in Russia that has a nice English button so I can understand the site and I can browse and buy odd gearshift knobs and other odd vintage Lada accessories?

>cruisin on empty road
>look in mirror
>see this
wat do?

kys

I want to give this a whirl.
reuters.com/article/us-europe-migrants-soviet-autos-idUSKCN0ZV1L8

>tfw u don't own a articulated car transporter or have enough spare time.

Looks like a muddy elephant.

There are equivalents of craigslist, but not ebay, difference is you can't set up a delivery to your country

Not sure about a nice English button though

jump off a roof you commie shitbox loving idiot.

piss off

THIS IS NOW OFFICIALLY A GERMAN QUALITY APPRECIATION THREAD

...

They aren't, with some exceptions like Gaz-66 (that one can literally be set on fire and still run afterwards). But they are easier to fix, since they're simple, and also up until the late 70s the USSR had no car service facilities available to the public, so cars were made with DIY repair in mind.

COMMIE CARS ARE SHITE

SHITE

The Trabant's body is pretty much indestructible, it was designed that way to stick it to the capitalistic planned obsolecence.
Too bad the rest of the car is quite perishable.

There are quite a few Eastern European and Russian sellers on ebay.

Russia-specific sites have no English interface because why would they? Of all the people who don't speak Russian in Russia, far more speak Chinese or Ukrainian than English.
And if you want to buy from abroad, you'll have to negotiate it with the seller personally, most of them only want to deal locally (since Russian postal service is absolutely awful, and also too many scammers)

Has anyone got any pics of aesthetic Soviet shift knobs in-situ?
