because everyone else did

I dont think Acura ever made any cool cars

...

last cool acura

Kinda this, 90s Acura was almost entirely rebadge central and they didn't even develop their own design language until the mid 2000s otherwise stuff like was just removing the Honda badge and adding on Acura ones.

The modern NSX was inspired by Acura's design language and gets exported as a Honda. since the Acura came first you could actually say the New NSX is something they "made".

Then you know nothing.

>yfw that ff landbarge has longitudinally mounted engine

As did the Vigor

Not true even though the KBP Type S is god tier
This was heavy sure but 5.2 to 60, 13.6 quarter mile off the showroom floor, the handling is great, it just looks like shit most of the time

And the fact that Honda still offered it in manual
>that pic
I have a weird feeling emanating from my crotchular region

Acura Legend looks pretty dope. Wish I had one.

Shit. 270 hp AWD acuras. Why didn't I know about these before?????

>5.2 to 60
christ, i had no idea these things were so fast.

>Legend
>AWD

Uh no

2005

From Wikipedia:

"Although it has been a strong seller for Honda, the RSX does not fit within the confines of Acura's re-structured market strategy, formulated after the decision to take the Acura brand worldwide (previously, the Acura nameplate has appeared only in North America, elsewhere in the world the same models are sold as Hondas). With the introduction of the similarly powerful and less expensive 2006 model-year Honda Civic Si to the marketplace, the decision has been made to discontinue production of the RSX, with the final units slated to be built in summer 2006. Because of its lower pricing and longer list of available options, Honda considers the new Si to be a more viable choice for performance minded young men, who are the most common buyers of RSXs. Speculatory articles seem to indicate that a 2-door variant of the new TSX will replace the RSX as Acura's entry-level sports coupe, although it will be more luxurious, more expensive and more powerful than the RSX and will thus likely appeal to a different market segment."

Basically they thought the RSX and Civic Si were redundant. Wanted to take the Acura brand in a different direction.

we can see that direction really worked well for them

The type 2 6 speed legend coupe was the best car I've ever owned

Those are rebadged Hondas.

obviously you only care about looks and not powertrain

because a year after 2008 Acura released a Super Handling - AWD TL with a 3.7L V6 producing 305 hp with a no cost manual option

IDK why people idolize the Type S so much when just a year later Acura released the manual SH-AWD. Legitimately better in every freaking way. Hello. Open your fucking eyes.

> AWD TL with a 3.7L V6 producing 305 hp with a no cost manual option

that sounds great dude, until you walk up to it from behind

haha

what the fuck do you think acura is?

Legends were shitty FWDs

So do Audis, Saabs and Citroens.

The last Honda Legend has SHAWD

>Why did Acura stop making cool cars?
since Lexus blew them the fuck out 90s acuras are good though wish to have an nsx

What country do you live in because the Legend in the states never has SH-AWD

Every car has bad angles and every car has good angles. Just like you.

hmmmm elmira.craigslist.org/cto/5930420642.html

Meh, the fucking tears in the interior and the rust turn me off of it, that and the fact that the engine is mounted longitudinally so forget swapping anything other than a C V6 in it

4g TLs weren't that quick. Only reason why it hit 13.6 quarter mile was because AWD. A 3g 6 speed TL-S will do 13.9 but pull on the 4g from a roll. With a few bolt ons, you can do low 13s easy.

>IDK why people idolize the Type S
Because it's faster than we got the pigfat, ugly 4g which was a downgrade.

2007 TLS: 286hp / 3500lbs
2011 TL AWD: 305hp / 4000lbs

Do the math user.

fat and ugly tho

Delete this.

Yeah, seems kinda fishy to me...

B-But muh SH-AWD makes up for the extra weight

Is Acura a Honda brand for US similar like Scion were?

Acura still hasnt made any cool cars

yeah but instead of tring to be cheap and hip they were Hondas with leather

I know the differences between these cars. I was wondering if the purpose of the different branding is similar.
It just seems weird that US market needs different branding so that people maybe would think that that's an another brand. Why couldn't Honda just be Honda? Does creating a new name for a brand with a relatively rich legacy really helps the marketing?

because Hondas are known as cheap reliable shitboxes and marketed as such

Acura was marketed as an upscale brand from the getgo

its all about brand image

Honda in general stopped making cool cars after the NSX and S2000.

So I was right. I'm european and it still seems weird for me. Probably cause I'm looking at them as the same brand.

when they tried to be there own thing instead of rebrands and "luxury" quality

why do you think so many ricer buy and trash them.

yeap

same thing as Nissan and Infiniti and Toyota and Lexus

The new nsx is branded as an acura and rebadged as a honda actually

Except that these are worldwide known brands unlike Acura.

2006, with the death of the RSX. Simple as that. ask anyone, everyone knows I'm correct.

Try again.

Pretty much they didnt want ricerfags 25 years old and under walking on the lot and ruining their image as they cater to older mature customers with money who wont just be out for test drives

Acuckra
>am i rite?

>Hondas with leather
This wasn't the case in the mid/late 00s. Bigger engine, better styling, better suspension, bose surround sound, reverse camera, navi standard, power everything, more trim options, and a few other things. And they were incredibly fairly priced too - starting at low 30s. A fully loaded Accord wasn't as good.

Today however I'm inclined to agree. Acura is shit and isn't even trying to be different from Honda.

FWD vs AWD

can you do math?

Can you into traction dipshit?

because they used to just copy Mercedes

now they take their civics and try to make them premium

when did they start is the better question

tfw dad had an acura legend for 17 years of my life and ended up selling it because we couldnt afford to keep up with the repairs

it was a pearl white coupe with a low profile spoiler too, fucc
