They're reeling in the damage and survivability of engineered ships a bit, but they'll still be way too powerful for any non-engineered ship to have a prayer of competing.
Also they'll never remove solo mode, no matter how much of a glaring problem it presents to developing the MMO side of the game. Dad would have a stroke. Forum dads already somehow unironically believe that FDev has a "pvp bias," because apparently combat balancing only applies to pvp.
Mason Martinez

Isn't that the reclaimer??
Julian Hughes
It very much is.

Why don't we kick EDfags off our general?
Austin Wilson
EDfags are just SCfags who are impatient.
Gabriel Carter
Because EDfags are SCfags
beat me to it

Both games and playerbases are equally shit for their own reason. These two turds deserve to be glued to each other.

Is it a good time to come back? I've wanted to make the run to Colonia for a while, but wanted to get a bigger ship first
William Foster
Whilst it has ease of use added, it's still a sim in comparison to ED, SC and others.
You should overlook some of its weaker points in that you do have a large building aspect added.
If you've only got a few craft to simulate, it's a lot easier.
Hunter Phillips
what is Colonia
Easton Parker
You realize space "sim" isn't something that is trying to replicate reality, right
Leo Reyes
So what's Veeky Forums's opinion on the aliens in E:D? Do you think they're going to be adding onto it every month/year or do you think that was it and now we have to wait for the next Expansion/Update? I'm hoping it's timed, like we've been probed by the Asari and now in a few days something more will happen, until the climax at some point.
Zachary Wright
It's really fucking stupid is what it is.
All it is, is that people found a AI controlled base near the center of the universe, the closes one to the center and then made Colonia. Now the Devs made it so that it's an event and if we want the Colonia Space Station to stay we need to send resources to it in a timed event. The people who get the most to Colonia can have their own, special snowflake, fan-fiction/RP base there for their own Clan/Guild

It's nothing but a cutscene right now. It's exactly like Capital Ships. So to me it's cool for the first time they show up and never again. I strongly doubt Frontier is going to take it any further for fear of upsetting the dads.
Joseph Stewart
This is FD we're talking about. If you think a feature might be cool, it won't be. I guarantee you the alien cutscene was the result of a switch they flipped, and nothing else will happen until they flip the next one. Players certainly won't be able to dynamically effect anything.
No. It's fake colonization that players can't control. Just like everything else "plot" related in the game, players can only superficially participate until FD decides it's time for the next step.
Alexander Richardson
>upsetting the dads. What?
People would get upset if there was more to do in the game outside Space Trucking and taking invisible, theoretical people inside your ship to look at planets and fly them to the next planet?
Xavier Price
Yes. If Frontier make the thargoids too powerful and start killing players, there will be riots. Also I forgot to mention, Frontier already fucked up with the Thargoid Scout, pirate NPCs can attack you while you're in a cutscene so they need to get their shit together real fast if they want to introduce more of this shit.
Landon Davis
So wait, people would get upset if a faction started to attack them in a game called Elite:DANGEROUS
I mean isn't that a risk? I mean, this is a open ended fucking space game with fucking aliens. If I don't feel threatened by Pirates, Pirate Players and now aliens I don't think id call the game Elite:DANGEROUS
Samuel Williams
I can see you're new to this general. Yes, Elite Dangerous has a staunch player base which abhors any type of combat, especially PvP. Basically, introducing anything that forces them to no longer play as they would like is a cardinal sin, which generally means that any combat forced on them is literally the devil and must be purged.
Hunter Wood
Listen you don't understand dad at all, you're clearly new here. Dad doesn't want challenge, risk, fun, or any kind of interaction with other players. Dad wants to fool himself into believing he is good at something by playing a game that rewards time invested over ability at playing. Dad wants FD to suck his crusty old british penis because his wife won't anymore.
Isaiah Ward
Holy fuck, are you serious? I mean, I'm a bad gamer, I'm really fucking bad but I love the thrill and challenge.
Jesus Christ, I mean I dont think I'd play Star Citizen but is SC going to be the same after its theoretically upgrade from a Tech Demo?
Leo Jackson
Roberts seems to love combat, so I don't think so.
David Mitchell
Delete your picture.
Cameron Campbell
My understanding is that there will be safe spaces for dad, mainly in the more central, heavily governed systems. Also apparently dad gets a slider that allows him to turn off pvp, for some reason. It has been said that the lawless, outer rim systems will feature free for all pvp, as well as higher payouts to compensate for the additional risk, so at least there will be some fun places in the game world.
Joseph Thompson
>Turn off Pvp
Turning it off was never a thing.
Hudson Young
>Also apparently dad gets a slider that allows him to turn off pvp, for some reason.
nope
Brandon Hughes
I hope so, because its just silly if everything is going to be for carebears
Luke Scott
I really hope this doesn't happen. Don't like to play multiplayer ? Then don't play. I've done the same with ED : Didn't like the devs forcing my hand to do trade grind. Uninstalled
Dad doesn't want to play with others. What if they shoot at him? What if he actually has to learn how to play? Better to pretend you have a big video game space dick than actually have a big video game space dick,
Joshua Wilson
>Dad doesn't want to play with others then they should do as I said and not even fucking launch the game
Nathaniel Hall
>Don't like multiplayer? Then don't play
There have been one or two anons trying to argue that this concept isn't fair. Usually their reasoning is rooted in a selfishness, that no matter what since they decided to buy this game (SC) they're allowed to experience all the content with no obstacles in their way, including players.
Liam Walker
To play doubles advocate, Frontier promised a single player game that wasn't online only up until like a week before release.
Solo mode is pretty much the only remainder of that promise
Adrian White
>Doubles advocate
user please. Also they should be demanding Frontier include that offline solo experience then, instead of trying to ruin the game for other people.
Easton Rivera
>Also they should be demanding Frontier include that offline solo experience then, instead of trying to ruin the game for other people.
What do you think Solo mode is
Nicholas Hughes
I'm hoping dads will primarily stay with ED, rather than switch to SC.
>1) Dads like rewards for time invested/brand loyalty Dads switching to SC will be giving up all of those thousands of hours worth of ED farming for their ultimate space truck.
>2) Dads hate social interactions with non-Dads Can't just retreat into solo/co-op mode in SC.
>3) Dads hate combat/challenge/new things and the biggest factor: >4) Dads get extremely jealous and absolutely hate it when non-Dads can have fun/earn spacebucks in non-Dad sanctioned activities The very notion that anything could be more profitable than mining/trucking in a Dad-approved safespace will infuriate them.
Charles Gomez
Not offline and not solo.
Camden Cook
You need an internet connection to play solo-mode ED. That's not offline.
Landon Rogers
Its certainly not "ruining the game for other people"
Lincoln Fisher
this is actually a valid point, FD forum dads have been saying that they hope all the "entitled millenial literal psychopath fucking griefing pvpers" will switch to SC so they can show their wife's son screenshots of their asp in front of a black hole in peace
Anthony Williams
When you play solo, you still affect the game for others. You affect the economy, you can take part in community events as far as I'm aware. So yes, it is.
Aiden Rivera
I have no problem with that. Frontier has made clear in the past and now that they are focusing on pleasing that demographic. What I don't want is these dads to just jog on in SC with their pair of crocs, thinking this is the new ED. Even though I will too mostly play most of the time in secure space I understand that occasionally encountering a pirate or just some random noob who wants to try his hand at PvP is a risk and an inherent part of the game. If those dad want to be all alone with their autism I suggest sending them to an asylum
Sebastian Cox
>You affect the economy
>He thinks E:D's economy is dynamic
Robert James
Solo actively harms the Open Play experience. You have an equal effect on the BGS, Powerplay, UA bombing, community goals, etc, rendering any attempt at meaningful opposition/blockading in Open completely useless
Easton Lopez
Oh of course it's not dynamic. The point is, a person playing in solo mode can change the experience for a person not playing in solo mode. Therefore solo mode is not actually solo, and it's definitely not offline. I don't see how this is something that can be fucking argued against.
Landon Cooper
I feel like the "solo capital ships are fine and not a balance problem" retard will be showing up any second.
Jonathan Thomas
>individual players having even the tiniest impact on the game economy/warfare
Joseph Thompson
You just said you can affect the economy even solo.
You can't affect it online let alone solo. Its not dynamic.
Adrian Howard
Alright fag read and let's cut the bullshit.
Angel Cruz
>waa someone keeps bombing my exploit station its NOT FAIR
Dylan Collins
Newfag here, is it true you can control each thruster individually ?
David Martinez
Do other people who like SC also like starsector?
I've been playing it while I wait for 3.0, which will never happen. It reminds me of cool space battles that might exist in the future.
If so, what mods do you like the best for it? I just got it and im doing vanilla, but i'd really like a better campaign overworld.
Blake Wilson
>Huge number of people saying "I'll only play in solo mode" It's hard to effect economy solo, but that's not what's fucking happening. Things like those community events have tons of players flocking to them, mostly in solo mode so they can't be stopped. That is actively effecting the people playing the game in open and there's no way you can ignore it.
Anthony Hernandez
No, why the fuck would you want to do that
Eli Gray
If there were invisible enemies that could fuck with your faction and you wouldn't know until it was already too late in any other game, you wouldn't defend it
Samuel Brown
You shouldn't respond to the shitter. Soon as he made that comment I realized this.
Andrew Sanchez
>The universe isn't interesting or memorable enough, its all too bland >WAIT STOP I NEED EVERYTHING TO BE UNDER MY CONTROL, NOTHING DYNAMIC MUST HAPPEN ROOOOO
Lucas Watson
For fun
Grayson Nguyen
Starsector is great--I hope it gets completed one day, I'm not dissatisfied with my purchase of the game but...once you have 2 battleships and their escorts running around killing pirates gets a little old.
That being said the random skirmish mode is fucking great. I think my favorite ship is the Wolf-class corvette series.
Michael Gonzalez
You misunderstand, it's not that we don't want the universe to be dynamic, it's that we don't want invisible people to be able to do whatever they want without us being able to stop them. The more dynamic, the better, but not if dads in solo can do whatever they want without fear of opposition. This is not hard to understand.
Luis Wilson
Whoops--meant frigate, not corvette.
Kevin Jenkins
>that we don't want invisible people to be able to do whatever they want without us being able to stop them
First off, you're not going to be able to "guard" a station.
Secondly, not everything is under your control, learn to accept that. Learn to get immersed, scrub.
Wyatt Ross
user stop, he's just going to say some stupid shit to you like he did with the
>Wahh someone UA bombed my exploit station
Michael Green
If you genuinely don't understand why the ability to become invisible and do stuff to the game world and other players' factions is a problem, then you are literally a retarded person. Fuck off back to the FD forums where you came from, dad.
Cooper Young
If you can't handle espionage, you're definately the problem.
Austin Turner
Holy shit go be fucking stupid somewhere else
inb4 lol I trole u
Xavier Campbell
Can't shoot it so its a bad mechanic huh, kid?
Brandon Perry
Why do you keep responding?
Sebastian Collins
People will respond seriously to this.
Adam Gutierrez
I've just had this argument on the early ED forums with so many dads that this shit triggers my vidyuh autism. There are tons of people who unironically believe what that user was saying in the ED community. I'm done sperging about it now.
Anthony Russell
Big difference from ED to SC : SC is made with few interesting missions rather than 10 shit one, it will give you fun stuff to do while flying and cool place to visit even if you don't meet anyone.
Gather all the promise and we will all be playing like DAD(tm) simply because killing other players isn't the only thing to do. It's just something that might happen while we play for a much wider variety of reasons. So rather than ganking players who prefer coop over PvP the game will make you interact with players who want PvP.
SC is meant to have everybody have their own kind of fun (PvE / Coop / PvP) ED is still trying to force an unique VISION of fun on everybody.
Nathaniel Peterson
Where's the latest place to skimmer farm? I wanna make a quick space dollar.
Austin Garcia
17 Draconis is down for now, pretty sure Naitis still works though. It's not as good, but it works until you 17D is back up.
Evan Gonzalez
Thanks fellow spacer!
Joshua Scott
Is there an ETA on when the space trucking aspect of SC comes out?
(another user) Do you realize you talk like a goon ? Goonfleet gathered in Eve Online around the intent of never caring for others and taking everything that wasn't bolted down by the developers (and we know how well it worked)
Not a lot of pledger wish to see that sort of goonery happen in SC. That mean you will only have PvP with people and place that are acceptable for that. You won't see the difference the game is 90% and other PvPer will take you on But no divine right to fuck someone who just wanted to play PVE with friends.
So don't worry you'll have your little safeplace where you can express your aggressivity without fear of being branded as griefer or some socially inapt person. Just chill and accept that other people don't want to have to kill you in loop to have their own fun
Luis Diaz
Thank you
Robert Nelson
I can tell by the way you type that you're the "solo capital ships are fine" retard.
Your attitude is a huge part of the reason ED is and always will be shit, and now you're infecting our last hope for a good space MMO, too. Do us all a favor and just neck yourself, my man.
Jordan Nguyen
Wrong
Sebastian White
Community events are designed to bring players to the same area and create that kind of effect. Players following incentives created by the devs in order to behave a certain way does not really demonstrate player impact on the game... as since the behaviour was engineered by the devs, if they were competent you wouldn't even know if the "player impact" was actually due to players or just devs adjusting things.
We were talking more about players making the decisions on what to do in the game, and their actions making an impact on the game... not players doing what the devs want the players to do, and the only impact they have on the game was the one that the devs designed them to have.
Dylan Fisher
>game advertised as having pvp >pvp is openly stated to enable a piracy mechanic >buy game despite not liking pvp >see solo mode option >see private server option >decide to play open >carry valuable cargo >get mad when you're attacked by someone playing the game as it was intended

Don't forget daddy-o, the first trade and piracy missions are going to be internal to the Crusader system. Once you are pinned as a poi for being a cargo captain, your precious slider means nothing, and you are on borrowed time. You have to pick up your missions and handle cargo at some point.
For now though, I need you to work under the assumption that you will just casually truck cargo around Crusader without any interference.
Josiah Price
