Why is our cycle the first to come up with the idea to travel to Andromeda before the Reapers invade?
How come vermin like us have the technology on that level?
What if some of the previous cycles have already made the trip to Andromeda? Would Reapers travel there as well to finish there as well?
If trans-galactic travel is possible, what stops an advanced synthetic race from developing in Andromeda, wiping out its organic masters and then travelling to our galaxy to colonize it like we are doing now? What do the cycles here solve then?
If the organic life in Andromeda could evolve freely, without the Reapers periodically stomping over it, how come the Andromedan races aren't far more advanced than us? Why haven't THEY made the trip already? And if the technological singularity is inevitable, as the Starchild says, why hasn't it already happened in Andromeda?

The entire purpose of the Citadel and relay system is to incentivize civilizations to stay in a predetermined lane, as such.
You have a technological marvel custom built to be the core of a space faring community, and a vast form of space travel that would take an incredible amount of time to explore on it's own.
Humanity are just the unique kind of impatient and stupid that they look at that, already be rapidly expanding beyond their actual ability to support and defend their assets, and still think "eh this is kinda boring, what about that place way over there centuries of travel away?"

I won't spend any money on 3, period.
You don't understand what a betrayal ME3 was. How dejected I was when I first realized how shit it would be.
I was hyped for ME1 prior to release and pretty excited to get into the series back in those days. To be there from the beginning and see the ride through all the way to the end. I played through ME1 and ME2 many many times and argued passionately about the lore and morality for years.
Only to have it all cast into the trash bin at the end. The things I loved about the series, the ideas, characters, sub-plots, core gameplay mechanics, and themes, the PAY-OFF... all of it just thrown away in a terrible game with a terrible story and indefensible ending.
Via the very nature of the Mass Effect series, in which its most defining feature was that you would make decisions in each game and the effects would carry-over into future games. A system which made you feel like your run through the whole story was unique to you in that way... It is all retroactively ruined by ME3 and its terrible story, assets system, and ending. There is no point in replaying any of it now knowing that the import feature won't even lead to satisfying window dressing for ME3.
The whole series is shit because of 3. I hate it and I hate the people who made it. To some degree I even resent the people who played it.
Mass Effect was one of my favorite series of all time, one of my favorite settings to immersive myself in, and ME3 took it away.
Isaiah Clark
Liara is pure garbage, that much is correct
Juan Parker
Am I the only one who wishes ME:A had open-world space combat? You'd fast travel to a new system, but once you get there it'd take a few minutes of real-time travel through the system. You could go silent-running and stealthily make your way straight to your objective, go prospector and try to find rare new metals in asteroids, or if you're lucky (or unlucky) you'd engage an alien ship in combat and if you took it down you'd potentially get cool new alien tech in the form of salvage.
Jeremiah Russell
>Why is our cycle the first to come up with the idea to travel to Andromeda before the Reapers invade?
How do we know that is the case? I wouldn't be surprised if we find evidence in Andromeda of past cycles that sent similar expeditions.
The real question is why were the Protheans the first to throw a real wrench in the Reapers' plans with the Conduit and the beacons? (which Sovereign itself couldn't use)
In even being able to fight the Reapers we were just lucky to have come after the Protheans who are the ones who really made it possible.
The Crucible shit likewise is just luck.
Also, you are probably putting a lot more thought into this than the writers for Andromeda have.
Really there is no reason for conflict between galaxies. The distances are too great and what you can find in one galaxy you can find in another. It just isn't worth it as civilizations separate galaxies might as well be in separate universes.

ME2 was just as bad and your previous choices mattered even less.

No, ME2 was not nearly as bad. The worst sin ME2 did was not advance the main story. It was a dud but it didn't retroactively ruin anything. Don't get me wrong though: the warning signs were apparent with ME2 and I said as much at the time. I argued for a long time that ME2 was setting us all up for disappointment in ME3 because as far as narrative and design was concerned with was two things: poorly conceived and a total waste of time.
In terms of choices, again, ME2 could at least offer that there was still one more game to really lay this stuff out. Mind you, as I said, I saw the warning signs and I called the game out over it.
At least ME2 kept the dialog wheel. At least sidequests were usually treated with an actual conversation with an NPC. Even some choices from ME1 were rewarded, perhaps only, with a dialog with a returning NPC. That stuff does little to game-play but it is nice in a ROLE-PLAYING-GAME.
However, for all of ME2's flaws at least it didn't rape or ruin the lore with excessively stupid ideas, or ruin any characters (too badly), and at least there was still one more game to do. The series could have been saved from embarrassment and near destruction if 3 had been written and executed intelligently.
It just needed a story that was a little less dumb and an ending that wasn't an ass-pull.

So did ME3. There's just less of them.

ME3 rewards more choices than ME2 did
Michael Powell
>At least ME2 kept the dialog wheel Dialog wheel was always shit. Half the "choices" in ME1 actually had the EXACT same response under different positions on the wheel. >Even some choices from ME1 were rewarded Same as ME3? Except they actually had impact on the story arcs(Tuchanka and geth/quarians). >it didn't rape or ruin the lore with excessively stupid ideas Yeah, like Shepard dying, "ah yes Reapers", Cerberus suddenly becoming vigilantes, Council sending a Spectre into Terminus systems, geth/heretic split, the human reaper...

ME3 had an amazing story except for the last 10% of it which was so bad it was like the video game equivalent of "It was all a dream all along!"
Ending aside, I found that 2 on the whole was worse. Not just because of the T-850 Reaper but because it took a really awesome premise and had 0 pay off for it. Collectors were dope but the entire story wasn't.

Actually I'm semi-serious, I'm studying to become a professor of psychology and my thesis is on relationship sustainability. I've worked out a formula to determine partner long term desirability based on research and statistics and applied it to the romance interests, naturally it's not really applicable to fictional characters and aliens but I did my best.
Jose Cook

It's a shame you never really got to tell anyone about your adventures, it's always NPCs giving you their life's story seconds after meeting you for the first time. Shepard never got to tell any stories, it would have been fun to pick between the paragon and renegade options for different versions of the same events.
Parker Martin
That list is based on the assumption that the subject is male and human, I didn't want to speculate too much about MTs and stuff but Garrus would be somewhat higher up if you switched gender, yeah. Liara would probably end up above him though.

As dumb (and albeit hot) as the boob window is, I still prefer that outfit to the official one. It doesn't look as bulky, the pauldrons are smaller, it doesn't have the too long jacket, etc. The latex-look was kept, though, which I like.

Seems all but certain the composer is John Paesano, a movie/tv composer who did the music for Netflix's Daredevil
Jaxon Green
I do feel like Mass Effect would be a lot better if you dropped the Reapers, and instead went for a more grounded threat. Terrorism, rogue spectre, geth incursion, and so on.
Jonathan Wood
well, that isn't too bad. soundtrack was the only thing that wasn't bad about that show

For God's sake. It's like they want to throw money away.

It would tie a lot better into the societal/cultural messages integrated into 1 and sort-of 2. But that's not SINICHMAHTICK enough.
Parker Baker
As a fellow turianlover....I seriously think it is the voices. Male or Female, I'll have a turian of any gender. I do wish too that Garrus was bi, but hey, maybe we'll get a male/maletur romance in Andromeda and it won't be utter shit.
Justin Thomas
did Cliff Martinez ask for too much money?
Alexander Cox
>>a movie/tv composer
Didn't Clint Mansell do ME3's score?
Owen Richardson
I have faith in turian characters in Andromeda to be good, even if the rest of the game is worthless. So far, literally every turian character has been well-written
>Cliff Martinez >Clint Mansel Is this the new BIG MCLARGEHUGE meme?
Luis Hernandez
Mansell only did two tracks - the music during the escape from Earth, and the ending theme when the Crucible is activated
The rest was am equally split combination of Sam Hulick (co-composer ME1/ME2) Christopher Lennertz (Overlord, Shadow Broker), Cris Velasco, and Sascha Dikiciyan (Kasumi's Memories, Arrival)
Adrian Richardson
>en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloaca probably not, I think Turians birth live young so they'd probably have more mammalian reproductive organs.
Grayson Anderson
Straight from the wiki: >Turian features are avian, making them resemble humanoid birds or raptors, however unlike most Earth avian creatures, turians are viviparous and give birth to live young. However, live birth does not always mean mammalian.
But then again they're aliens so they can break all the rules.
also the soundtrack from the 2003 movie was the only good thing about it.
Gavin Morgan
seems legit haven't exactly researched the subject, but a quick google search is telling me that there are a few snakes and lizards that give birth to live young. so I'd guess that maleturs have hemipenes. Another thing that makes Garrus the best romance for femshep
Jaxson Hall
pretty shit tbqh, user-san. hope he brings something different to ME:A, but I'm ok playing with the music off.
Thomas Baker

and it isn't waifufagging, it's just a weird conversation about best race

I hope they meant that they couldn't die in combat. And still, that doesn't mean I can't get the rest of Peebee's race killed, forcing her to wander the galaxy as the last of her worthless race
