Garbage meme engine.
What are you talking about the 3800 series II is reliable af you fucking idiot, these are all around good cars OP
I have a '98 Grand Prix GT, the engine runs perfectly. The rest of the car is holding up fairly well for its age. As long as it has been properly maintained the car should be good OP.
iron pig
Get the 3800 Supecharged and compound turbo charge it then up the boost till it pops
They're bulletproof reliable, and though it has aftermarket support, it's a shit engine to modify since it takes more work than others to make power.
Good for a daily driver, not much else though.
Ya it's not going to be tuned, it's for my kid to drive around, it's got 114,000 on the motor, is it a good car for a first timer?
perfectly fine for a first car.
they are dogshit unreliable engines with so many issues
google 3800 issues lol
get him a old v8 302/350 cheap at least they are reliable
ausfag here no they are not
>ausfag here
opinion discarded.
You're all criminals and liers.
WE USED THE 3800 TILL FROM 1989 2006 YOU FUCKEN CUNT
ITS A HUGE TURD
>ausfag here
Opinion discarded
Why would be be used so long if it was garbage? Also, grand nationals used the 3800, this is just not turbo
...
well, in America, we used it from 1962 through til 2009.
Consider yourself retarded.
because it was cheap and cheerful
Now all thats left are clapped 3800's that have been thrashed into the ground.
Either by lack of maintainance, milage or just simple age
We STILL see tonnes of these on the road
your opinion is dis guarded
OP you have been warned
But your american your all just as retarded by default mate
>ausfag
>literally kicked from the civilized world for being a degenerate scumbag
>thinks his opinions on anything matter
In general other then the ugly SUV buick came out with in the 00s it's an extremely reliable company and they are prob top 3 for American cars. That car with that mileage will go another 200k with basic matenince.
>tonnes
lurn 2 spel
>seppos trinknig they can match a aussie in bantz
yeah nah mate facken trumps a loose cunt cucking low hanging leftist weenies ya poof
learn2metric
>so many issues
I actually own one, here's the two:
Lower intake manifold gasket - should have been done by 100k, revised design not a problem. Coolant elbows - Google it and replace when the time comes with Dorman aftermarket ones.
>transverse
AHHAAHHAHAHAH
hahahahahha look at him Veeky Forums and laugh
>SC
Nice, what's it in? GTP?
>he doesn't know what the Americans do with 3800s

Nearly 60 years of development. Bulletproof as can be.
Get fucked ya daft cunt.
The 3.8 is a far greater motor than that pile of shit 3.dicks alloytec.
MANGMANGMANGMANGMANG for days
The alloytec is a great engine. You're just upset you aussies don't get the twin turbo version.
Nah. I'd rather have a Barra
why? It can't rev for shit and doesn't make as much power as the twin turbo 3.6 GM uses.
I have heard these called "the cockroaches of the road". They were supposed to be Baby Boomers' last cars but the cars themselves stuck around and just refuse to die. I see them regularly here in Florida at least twice a day. There's something keeping these poor things going and I don't know whether it's occult magic or the blood of those who died on the beaches of Normandy but it's like a spiritual life force is imbued within the dank oil sumps amongst the sludge and metal shavings
holy shit. I can't stop giggling.
huur comes with more power from factory
doesnt make it a better engine
youtube.com
>plate literally reads GM killer
LMAO
>still can't rev for shit
> only has aftermarket because it's had tme for the aftermarket to jump on
Just wait until you guys gen the new Commodore HSV with the AWD twin turbo 3.6.
It's gonna rape everything.
>AWD twin turbo 3.6.
no turbos
The Barra in the FG-X Sprint makes 325kw to the 346kw of the TT3.6
But on overboost it makes 370kw.
>Buying a V6 HSV Commodore
That's some fucking fairy faggot shit m8. V8 or get fucked
We've had them in America for a few years now, notably in the Cadillac XTS V-sport which shared its chassis with your new FWD-based Commodore. The drivetrain is a drop in. Just need to wait for HSV to realize it.
youtube.com
The engine is supposedly reliable but my grandparents had all kinds of fuel regulator/injector issues with theirs along with a head gasket. The general consensus I hear is the drivetrain is reliable but the rest of the car falls apart around it.
depends on what coolant is still in it.
If it's still got dexcool in it it's going to need intake gaskets and a coolant flush. Some of them ate head gaskets for the same reason, you're gonna wanna compression test it before you tear it down.
It's not a terrible job, but it's worth noting. Otherwise keep fresh oil in it and don't drive it like an asshole or it'll eat a transmission.
AHAHHAAHHAAH
yanks still so btfo 2 years after they killed the Barra they cant handle it
yanks never got the Barra so there's nothing to be btfo about.
The closest we got was the Ford Taurus SHO with its 3.5L twin turbo ecoboost V6.
youtube.com
To take Ausfailia just let Emus loose, no one hardly has guns anyways
EXACTLY THEY NEVER EVEN GOT IT HAHAHAHHA
youtube.com
we dont need cunting guns we have assault commodores
even when they had guns they still lost
>we dont need cunting guns we have assault commodores
You lose wars against flightless birds and your V8 muscle sedans lose to American V6 sedans. What makes you think your turbo I6s are any better?

Not him, but those vids were shit examples
would you prefer the SHO destroying American muscle cars? Cuz I can do that.

those G8 GT only put out 350rwhp ish stock and that sho was obviously boosted
if that g8 had a cam in it would have rekt that sho turd
Meh, the first one had a shit driver in the mustang and the 1320 shows it getting BTFO by a stock ZL1
but your upsetting his narritive
This is now a pontiac/Holden thread
>that sho was obviously boosted
They're boosted from the fucking factory tard.
What part of "all wheel drive Twin Turbo 3.5L Ecoboost V6" did you not understand?
Lol are you so butthurt a dead brand kicks your domestic crap harder than a dead dingo?
GM sold a gorrillion of these things. Some are lemons.
Most are owned by people who don't take care of their things.
If this one is in good condition, that's low miles for a 3800. With regular maintenance, they last forever. I've had two that I drove past 300,000 (obvs didn't buy them new), and both ran well all the way to the end despite the rest of the car being used up or rusted out.
Common problem involves blowing the coolant elbows out of the alternator mount. Early aftermarket replacement elbows were trash, so you'd end up doing the same job again and again, buy OEM elbows or the aluminum ones.
>dead brand
With the exception of the zeta chassis, show me anything Holden had that wasn't built by someone else. Until the Zeta cars came along, all the Commodores were Opel based.
This is my $1500 Regal GS, had 117k when I got it
They are "comfy boats"
I just bought one which had the 3100 motor for 400$, cracked the block over the winter during a cold start.
