I'm enjoying FFXV so far - it's probably the only Final Fantasy I've enjoyed since the first one and it will probably end up being the only one I've finished aside from the first one. Not to be that guy, but these games have always felt completely awful to me, mostly for their awkward cutscenes and the strangest fucking cinematography I've ever seen. Just like in Kingdom Hearts the cutscene will focus extensively on one of their bishounen expressions while they grunt over and over again. The names and world building is a total clusterfuck and nothing makes sense but you kinda just go with it because it's an anime.

Honestly the strongest parts of this game are just riding around with my dudes and pretending that there isn't much else going on. It's just a little shocking that such a huge budget game can have writing this bad, but it actually seems better than most of the others in the series.

I mean, I like it and everything it's just mindblowing how shitty and weird the dialogue and story is. Square doesn't have a clue how to write something remotely captivating. I was pretty sure that Japan had gotten over this trend of writing every character like they have some kind of severe autism but man was I wrong.
