1st for Julian

is 2 specialist (one medic/one hacker), 2 grenadiers, 1 ranger, 1 sniper a good comp for commander?

ive kind of been neglecting rangers im not sure how good they are when leveled up

3rd for Julian.

Just picked this up thanks to the humble bundle 12 dollar monthly sub. Huge fucking fan of xcom 1 and never had the funds for a 60 dollar game so this helped. Should i do a vanilla play through then get long war 2 as i did ala xcom 1? or should i just go balls deep with the mod? Also are the dlcs worth getting, far as i can see they're just cosmetics.

5ste for the Technical.

Why no psi op?

Long War 2 ain't out yet famalam.

Do vanilla first. If you want more and LW2 isn't out yet then grab Long War Perk Pack, Long War Toolbox, A Better ADVENT 2 and whatever else catches your fancy.

oh, i havent gotten them yet

im building the psionic building now

>tfw trying out wizards for the first time
fuze is so fucking silly

2 specialist is a not really optimal. Generally one combat/hacking specialist and then add another ranger or grenadier to your squad. Obviously once you get psi, find a place for them as well.

New LW2 class, the Technical
xcom.com/news/xcom-2-long-war-2-mod-adds-new-technical-class-on-pc

>Status: Infiltrating
Now that's interesting.

>infiltrating
>flame thrower perks
yummy

>flamethrowers now
oh baby, still would like a primary slot flamethrower by hey, baby steps.

Also am I retarded but I could not find their skill listed or linked anywhwere

They haven't gone into any specifics yet.

I feel like this was already a class mod in the workshop somewhere.

it was made by them and called the assualt

Nah, there was a flamer class released pretty early, but I can't remember what it was called. But this class still looks pretty different.

steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=631056086&searchtext=flamethrower

This.

Purge, what are you doing outside /d2g/

dotards?

Hora hora

Any idea if this is going to be available as a separate download or do I have to wait for LW2?

You'll have to wait, probably. The bits weren't separate downloads for LW1.

>infiltrating
Hype. Wish Lumps would give us something resembling an ETA though.

>Implying other generals, better yet the world, don't appreciate happy purge
kill your shelf

Why would user want to kill his shelf?

>no plane mission with sneks and big guys
umm modders?

>rocketeer now uses gay iron man shit instead of a manly shoulder mounted rocket launcher

Gay

one of the most disappointing things about xc2 along with lack of MEC troopers

Yeah X1 rocket launchers are way more satisfying. Hopefully they get brought back.

I assume that the wrist mounted rocket launcher will end up in the secondary weapon slot, which leaves it open to being replaced with another model. You'd need new animations, but I don't see why it couldn't be done.

>Pistols are now utility items that anyone can carry.

>Shinobi
This kills the mod.

Grenade launchers > rocket launchers.

If the Long Dong team decided not to do it, I don't know who will have the knowledge and willingness to do it.

I assume you can use the animations from X1, but I'm completely inept when it comes to modding, so I guess I shouldn't complain.

There's just something cool about large weapons that you need to change your physical stance to use, especially ones that convey heft. I'm not against dainty wrist mounted stuff, but even Boba Fett had a rocket on his back.

>Return of Scatter
At least they are re-working the mechanics to work with X2 instead of getting lazy and just pasting it straight from X1.
>More pistols
good

It's that satisfying *Thunk* sound when the rocket launcher pops out, and yes, everyone you wrote about the rocket launcher having that heft feel is totally true.

>Shinobi

Hope it's easy to rename that. Fucking retarded weeb shit.

Yeah, just call it Infiltrator or assassin.

>not liking an animu swordsmaster in ur tacticool shooter game
I hope they give him a "teleports behind you" ability :^)

>class based on sword
>implying soldiers aren't weaboos
I really don't see the problem desu

>a distinct japanese culture existing 20 years after the invasion

Both would make a lot more sense than fucking Shinobi, especially for a guerilla movement.

>tfw Cap'n'Bubs isn't designing all the new items and enemies
I'm still angry that they thought Power Rangers ADVENT is acceptable

>implying anime isn't booming on the black market in a now alien controlled society trying to eradicate traditional human pleasures

>you can't buy Viper prostitutes on the black market

Hybrids when?

What kind of hybrids? ADVENT are hybrids.

The OG ones from X-COM Apocalypse

>get Hybrids
>they get Psi boosts at costs of HP/Hit/Move

I am okay with this

>tfw xcom 2 will never run as well as xcom eu

I'm pretty sure that's exactly what ADVENT are. They look pretty clearly like a mix of human and sectoid. And the game pretty much hints that they have a will of their own since some start surrendering once the psi network is destroyed, which means they should be around in the future.

XXth for Pistols are going to even more Useful.

try this it helped me massively

steamcommunity.com/app/200510/discussions/0/846960628563773260

I suppose it's possible I've misunderstood what they are, then. Admittedly, I haven't played as much of X-COM 2 as I'd like.

I've been using Shock Troopers for a while now, they're honestly quite different. In a nutshell, less focused on heavy weapons (though they make top tier flamethrower users) and more on offense and a bit of debuffing.

Kinda looking forward to using Technicals and Shock Troopers together.

As a side note did they have to use that name? when I think technicals I think of a pickup truck with a machine gun on the back.

An Apoc remake would be awesome, and ADVENT provide one of the necessary pieces to make it possible, so you are in luck.

Is it better to base a mayhem sniper on the crit perks or on VPT/gunslinger?

Shock Troopers are bosses. Love that class. Really needs the SMG though, for the mobility boost.

what do you guys will be the next step in the XCOM franchise?
from the looks of it, TFTD remake is coming.
at least if the deep sea hints from the ending in 2 are something to reference too

>multi stage missions with shit ton of small rooms incoming

It doesn't even look that much better.

>EU
Looks like a game from 2004

>2
Looks like a game from 2009

They work fine with assault rifles if you give them a speed PCS and yeah, those guys are fucking boss. Definitely one of my favourite custom classes

Yeah, but speed PCS's aren't common enough to rely on. I just build them with SMGs and use them as flankers and hunter-killers. Basically, they run to the flanks and corral enemies back into line or just kill them straight up.

>If the Long Dong team decided not to do it, I don't know who will have the knowledge and willingness to do it.

Doing the animations for a rocket launcher are far easier than you imagine, assuming you have the bare minimum know how about animations. If they didn't do it is simply because they either don't have anyone that can do animations(hard to imagine since they plan to make their own game) or they felt like it was too much work when they could just use the existing wrist mounted animations.

Just something to keep in mind if you get your hands on some. I mainly have them assist my assaults in dealing with hostiles up close. That GTS perk that gives a free incendiary and Flashbanger are fucking magic

I actually would enjoy a TFTD remake. I played some, and the non-stop cruise line terror mission spam burned me out, but the actual underwater missions were really cool.

>it doesn't even look that much better
wrong

truly besides the two staged Terror Missions TFTD was great fun

>that feeling of dread facing the first time Lobstermen and you are still using Gauss

Yeah, those perks are pretty legit. I'm considering training up a second Shock Trooper for my current campaign now and using them more thoroughly. It's been awhile since I've used them in depth and you're really reminding me of how good the class is.

>doesn't look much better

>technical class
That's not a technical.

Technically, it's a class.

gentleman, how do we fix SPARKS?

Make their aim not suck.

its easy
>moddable weapons
>come already ranked up relative to your other soldiers
>better aim
>less shit perks

Outside of just integrating Metal Over Flesh into the main game?
>rebalance or overhaul of the vanilla skill tree. That shit has so many onesided choices that it hurts
>ability to modify their weapons. why the fuck isn't that a thing?
>multiple class choices. Even something basic like a tanky class and a melee class would be a huge step in the right direction (yes, I am aware of the LW MEC classes mod)
>the ability to hit the broad side of a barn
>Long War Perk Pack style tree
>laser tier weapon

That's a technicality though.

Not Created Equal yes or no?

evens: yes
odds: no

>programmable in the turret chamber
THEY ARE ROBOTS SO i SHOULD BE ABLE TO TEACH THEM WAR MAXTRIX STYLE REEEEEEE

>Lone wolf
what a pleb, not taking dead eye and 2 snipers.

Isn't it turn on by default with LW? I sure hope none one is playing baby vanilla here.

Holy shit, Pistols are going to carry some games I think. Ability to save ammo for the next shot, pistol shots are generally more accurate then some weapons with the exception of Rifles and still deal good damage.

I think the thing that everyone is over looking though is that everyone gets three utility slots. I would be guessing this is at max though, no way they would give three at the start.

So this means that grenadiers get 4 slots, one for grenade, and then 3 for whatever they want. Time for even more destruction every mission. Guess this is a good thing since Grenade falloff is going to be a thing, need more of them for everything. No cover shall be left.

Now they just have to show how the fuck they are going to fix Sparks.

>Now they just have to show how the fuck they are going to fix Sparks.
they're not going to

And why not? They completely ignored them for the perk pack and didn't even give them a leg up to compete against all the new aliens they put out for the Alien Pack. They have hit in the 50% range against almost everything in the late game because they don't get any kind of aim up.

I don't use them, even with Metal over Flesh.

It's DLC so they probably don't care about it. Do you also expect them to rework Alien Rulers as well?

they said the time spent on sparks is better used elsewhere

Yes. I expect them to rework all aspects of the game, or it is inherently flawed. That's like saying they shouldn't do anything with Exalt in EW because it's just an expansion.

BOO, they already lost me. Nobody else has come close to a real solution for these pieces of shit and I'm disappointing in Firaxis for them as well. If they are writing them off as a lost cause then X2 is overall a worse game then X1

>X2 is overall a worse game then X1
Xcom 2 is very schizophrenic, it feels extremely unfocused. It's almost like the people that made the first one were all on the same page and working as a coherent team while the second one was made by a bunch of people that didn't know eachother.

I meant NCR for XCOM2

it really doesnt

nerf shotguns

>t. ADVENT

Long War came off as such a tight experience on an already great base game. I'm worried they're not going to catch lightning in a bottle a second time

I think you're just nostalgic about Long War user. You're forgetting all that magnificent design that was also in the mod.

>no Dr Vahlen waifu

t. viper king

is this the reason he broke out?

Welp, time to wait for Long War 2: Fan Expansion edition.
To me XCOM2 isn't complete without the DLC. Ignoring major gameplay elements like SPARKs seems retarded.

I bet if we do get an X2 expansion, Pavonis will have already moved onto Terra Invictus meaning we'll have to wait for 50 different LW2: Expansion Edition

If the Guerrilla War guy put together a team I would be pretty happy. He has the best concepts for re-working the strategic game.

Evidently.
Gotta get that body warmth.

I'm curious, how would you fix them? Most people say that metal over flesh and being able to customize their weapons fixes them.

So what do they need to be good? Better abilities?
