I tend to be nice to people like Alphys in real life but they're just trouble in the end. It's the sort of things where you just have to learn why people don't like them, often through first-hand experience.

I guess she could. The spider's kisses normally generate cuteness, but she would have to channel extra cuteness into one instead in this case. Not an easy feat.

It's not that weird. Alphys is the least liked character in the game, even more so then Asgore a child murderer. Add on the fact that most skeletonfags only care about Sans or Papyrus and it should be obvious

alphys gets the short end of the stick for a few reasons - she's not easy to like, her section of the game is among its low points, and she's half of one of the game's only confirmed couples which limits shipping wars

also i'm no artist but i've heard she's a giant pain in the ass to draw, her spines don't really jibe with 3-dimensional space so they trip a lot of people up

Alphys is in my top four, but I didn't find her all that funny. She's interesting and her character could be pushed in a number of directions without making her OOC (I'd like to see more of her competent scientist side), but the game primarily highlighted her self-loathing and obsession with anime. That doesn't win over a lot of people.

Plus the way she interrupts the flow of the game annoyed a lot of people.

Papyrus is brothers to Sans who is the most popular character. Most people don't actually care about Papyrus but claim to like him because they actually just really like Sans

i personally like alphys, even though i tend to keep away from people like her irl. i also think her character is part of an important message about tolerance and acceptance. sure her status updates are annoying, but also really funny, at least to me. to be honest, i find papyrus slightly more annoying with his self-obsessed rambling.

also, why is hotland considered a low point of the game? it's one of my favourite parts of the game. the way alphys is trying to be helpful, while actually solving all the puzzles for you, or accidentally screwing them up is really funny, and mettaton trying to murder you as part of his multiple tv shows is just priceless. it also has awesome music and some of the best boss battles in the game.

I'd probably like it if it weren't an Undertale AU, if that makes any sense. Most of the art I've seen is nice.

Don't know. I personally find the Ruins to be the worst overall area but i'm not a huge fan of Toriel so I find most of her interactions in the beginning to be annoying instead of enduring.

I also hate unskippable tutorials and they bug the fuck out of me

i'm not a big fan of ruins either. i do like toriel very much, but other than her, the entire section is just bland and uninteresting. the monsters are generic, the graphics are extremely plain, the characters are spread thin, a lot of their dialogue is just tutorial and exposition... i remember playing it the first time and thinking "so this is the game everyone's been so excited about?" i do like it once you get to toriel's house, because, well, goatmom. my mom left me when i was 20 so i might have slight mommy issues.

now that i think about it, maybe that part is there just to lower people's expectations. :þ
