>Americans will stop mass importing jdm and bring the prices back down to early 2000s level again.

feels good man

>americans will finally lose access to good cars and will be forced to drive their domestic shitheaps

Lmao, thanks trump.

>guy on the lower left is like "Can you believe the shit coming out of this moron's mouth?

>americans
>mass importing JDM

It's only just become legal to import cars made in 1992. Please shut the fuck up, dumb strayaposter. All of the good cars still can't be touched by the US.

Trumps still going to let us all buy cheap skylines right?

his policies have no effect on the used market. I believe he's referring to the fact the top 10 best selling cars in America are pretty much all Japanese.

>implying flooding the market with cheap high quality used cars wouldn't effect sales of new cars

8 out of 10 are Japanese on is Korean, why not fix the underlying problem with domestic cars rather than impose tariffs?

Because Trump is a retard
That's why we have the 25 year import law. If it wasn't sold here and doesn't have an equivalent model, you have to wait 25 years to import.

You do realise these cars are manufactured in the USA and 80% of the parts are from the US aswell.

do you honestly think Trump cares? He sees the badge of a Japanese company and immediately thinks import.

good
as a ausfag that just lost the very last car maker here this.

Imports killed our cars

>ISDS [Part of TPP] would allow foreign companies to challenge U.S. laws — and potentially to pick up huge payouts from taxpayers — without ever stepping foot in a U.S. court.

b-but muh jdm tyte

Unions killed the local industry faggot.

>i need 100k per year to fit this one panel!

All those overpaid union cunts are now in financial therapy to cope with getting normal wages since their being overpaid caused them to have their workplace close down.

You do realize that manufacturing costs isn't the only thing contributing to a vehicles price.

TBF they were only making sedans and wagons here weren't they? They could've made some quality cars that people wanted (ie not V8 commos) and they'd probably still be around today. Even if that means crossovers and hatchbacks.

If Volvo of Sweden can be competitive and make genuinely nice cars, I don't see why Holden couldn't. Mind you I imagine a lot of the decisions came from GM, probably screwed them over a bit.

t. Commodore operator.

A lot came down from GM.

>generally more reliable than American or European vehicles
>generally cheaper than American or European vehicles

I still don't understand how the Jap's make their cars so good. Our family has had many used cars, including an 89 Caprice, 87 Dodge Lancer, Ford F150, 96 Cirrus, and an 04 Mazda 6. All those cars had major mechanical problems with them as time went on, yet our 92 shitbox Camry that was literally saved from being sent to the junkyard with 250K+ miles on it was the one that would never give us any major problems. And even so, the only thing it was sent in for was for a timing belt replacement once it broke - twice.

One can dream

a combination of cultural work ethic that gets pounded into every kid growing up (which sure has it drawbacks as well) and very early adoption of cutting edge data analysis in manufacturing
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statistical_process_control#History

>"If, as an example, we sell a car into Japan and they do things to us that make it impossible to sell cars in Japan ... we have to all talk about that," he said. "It's not fair."
It's not about protecting the US domestically, it's about making it easier for the US to sell in Japan.
>implying the Japanese would even want American cars

>people voted for a whiny manchild as president

all the US has to do is build better cars but seeing as America has done nothing but produce shit for decades on top of decades it will never happen

Basically this. I remember reading a book about Police culture in Japan is its a polar opposite from the rest of the world. Its basically a disgrace to yourself and everyone you know if you fuck up.

Domestics are greatly more reliable than imports don't believe the marketing hype. Toyota = Trash

GM makes a better product than Toyota, charges a lower price and yet they are outsold, does anyone trust the veracity of these numbers?

Obama did nothing for the auto industry but send jobs overseas and make it easier for cheap imports to take a huge share of the market. Absolutely sickening.

>>people voted for a whiny manchild as president
More voted for HC

there was no way to win the election so I think the electors just chose who would be the most hilarious

>Trump
>he

That is a primarily American way of thinking.

>HURRRRT DA TUNDRA IS AN IMPURT

To buy a tundra in Japan you have to import it from America

>electors
Putin is an elector not electors.

that was nafta you dumb fuck

who cares, our cars just weren't as good. It's our own fault

>being this fucking delusional

NAFTA didn't kill the engineers, marketers and board of directors. GM it Ford at any time has the resources to make a car as good as can be, but they usually just don't

Yeah but if we shipped all the plants to wherever the fuck they did and hired cheaper labor the engineers, marketers and board of directors are useless

...

>posts picture of Gabriel
>muh whiny manchild
lol

That wouldn't kill the industry. Americans don't really care where the vehicle itself is made, more about where the company is based out of.

Nafta if anything should have helped vehicle sales by reducing prices, which it did. Problem is not many people want to drive a heavy plastic filled domestic product.

People want a good product, no trade deal can make people want to buy an inferior product

Yeah but do you understand the issue with this right?

...

>kit kat !0CATsq0Myk

hang yourself

Or its that they shove their way into markets and replace everyone with one of their own.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keiretsu

Get with the program. We're Making America Great Again

What is it? I can't tell under all that plastic.

Pretty sure its an ls1

Your issue is that it takes american jobs. My response to that is that if you want to protect the jobs, stop trying to prevent an economic movement. I'm sure blacksmiths who made horseshoes were fighting tooth and nail against the automobile but the fact of the matter is that the market determines things like this. Forcing domestic companies to manufacture domestically instead of Mexico or Canada means that the same cost is now put on the only other side of the equation, the consumer

looks and sounds like its getting worse tbqh

This

>Americans don't really care where the vehicle itself is made, more about where the company is based out of.

You say that what car took the top spot in 2015 as the most American-Made car with over 75 percent of its parts and manufacturing coming from the United States?

What was the best selling car of 2106 in the USA?

The Toyota Camry answers both questions. People weren't buying it for the looks or interesting drive.

Checkout his picture title.

No people buy the Camry/Civic/corolla because they're cheap to operate, cheap to buy, well equipped, get good gas mileage and are reliable as old faithful.

If you asked the average person where those cars are made, they'd usually be baked that they were produced in the US.

Underrated post

> he's going to impose massive tariffs on cars manufactured abroad
> my wrx value will triple overnight
Feels good man

You're a fucking retard
Grey market imports =/= official imports you fucking imbecile.

The real problem is that American car makers can't compete with the quality and reliability of Japanese car makers

>Fuji-heavy somehow gets even more overpriced

Better hope they keep giving loans to vape-lords user.

**Cough cough**

Who cares that's irrelevant

>Kit Kat is a raging liberal retard
I'm not surprised. But I guess it's only natural when you're a litteral nu-male.

I'm talking about consumer models not sports cars. Gmc has had so many large fuck ups in the last decade and make their cars out of shit

Only if the producer is too greedy to not demand a 7 figure salary

This.

That's a very socialist ideology. You do know companies are in business to make money. If you're the head of a company, your goal is to make a lot of money.

Why would I benefit from vapefags spending their rent money on car payments?

And consumers desperately want to spend all of their money on crappy unreliable cars?

Literally what I've been doing the whole time. That's why it's the fault of the execs, engineers and marketers for not selling a car people want to buy. It has nothing to do with where the car was manufactured.

and you've figured out the inherent problem with all of america

It kind of does, some Americans feel a sense of patriotism and supporting American companies even though they also make cars completely outside of the US. I also believe that marketing teams can effectively market a shit product that people would buy even if it's shit. Mix that with things like consumer reporting being unreliable as fuck in determining whether a car is good or not the only thing you can really rely on is your own research and what you already know. The car Industry isn't apparent enough for Companies like Gmc to go under for their shit quality

Democracy
>irrelevant

Welcome to murka

America isn't a democracy and the presidential election has never been determined by the population.

>overpaid

median wage at a uaw plant is $5-10/hr less than a import plant

>GM makes a better product than Toyota,
GM made in San Luis Potosí
Toyota made in Kenetuky

Not really. The opposite is just as bad.

See I think we're looking at this from two completely different perspective. If you're in 'Bama or Detroit, odds are you'll drive an Impala or Taurus. But if you are just the average consumer, I do honestly believe that you'll try to buy the best car for the money, which is the cheapest vehicle that happens to be the most reliable and the most "safe."

We've got limited resources (money) so you'll but the best car to fit your needs with that. That just happens to be the Toyota Camry.

I don't know what to tell you OP, it requires you to understand basic economics.
>freeeeeee trade
>there's no tariff on american cars *wink wink*
>meanwhile it's been Jap policy since the 70s to hammer their currency as close to the point of worthlessness as they can manage
So Japan will keep doing their thing calling Americans ebul or something because there's no tariff and fucking stupid people will eat it up.

Half of Toyota's inventory is made outside the US dumbshit

tell that to the penis ring

It's fake new people totally false laptimes the corvette is faster and cheaper

All of ford's manufacturing is done outside the us

He's taxing them too Restart

I'll buy ""American"" when they are good

I'll stick to reliable foreign cars that are actually made in the US

Dont forget all the sick days

Toyota shut down in australia because all the workers were turning a single public holiday into plant wide 7 day weekends
and two weeks either side of Christmas holidays they were taking off, so six weeks across the entire plant
And they still had to be paid while the plant was shut down and not making anything

>Restart

Only Japanese pieces of shit hide their "enignes" under plastic.

wtf i hate trump now

It's 2017
Government has no place restricting freedom to buy whatever the fuck you want unless you're in some dictatorial African pirate nation

People should realize that bottom of barrel work will always be outsourced to chinks gooks and pakis, because it is in best interests of maintaining their life style

Instead of trying to prop up dead industries, why doesn't trump cry and create some new ones... like every other 1st world nation
But of course America is full of dead shits who are only good at standing in a production line making cheese sandwiches for 10 hours a day

Why is everyone on Veeky Forums a globalist shithead

Last thing I expected

this

Trump is literally anti-freedom

You realize American makers do this too

because globalism is awesome you luddite faggot. fuck you and your grandpappy's job.

pretty ironic that trump advocates authoritarian state run capitalism and hates china

You realize that union protectionism, domestic protectionism, high trade tariffs and restrictions is an extremely socialist and a liberal platform?

>globalism is awesome
Enjoy your pink slip as you're replaced with cheap labor from over seas who will do your job for pennies a day

I don't work at a laborer job, and the rate of unemployment is at pre recession levels. Git gud.

You're still gonna get replaced under globalism (which we aren't under at all) any and all jobs can be easily replaced by cheaper pajeets

I'm not. My job is in the tech industry, specifically dealing solely with domestic cellular telecoms. The odds that our small/medium sized business gets outsourced is less than 1 percent.

>my job is in the tech industry
The most outsourced field next to manufacturing

I love how you're telling me what my job is, thanks I had no idea what I was doing our anything about my company

I'm a highly skilled professional who's in little danger of being automated and who's job can't be easily farmed out to pajeets.

Sorry you flip burgers.

A retard worth billions of dollars who beat every single thing the entrenched political establishment could throw at him.

>muh jerbs

kek

That's weird, i work at a shop and every single chevy and even dodge/jeep has had a similar sticker in their doors so idk where ya'll niggas get your info?
