Ben said they might lock ranks 15, 10 and 5 so that once you past them, you can't drop lower for that season. The same way it's done for reaching legend.
Now Reddit is in full force saying how it's bad because more people will reach legend and there would be less of a grind.

I hit legend one season way back when that card first came out. Made a Reno Rogue back when Control Warrior was very popular, and FROM THE DEPTHS destroys Control Warrior.

I'm assuming that Rank 5 and legend would automatically go between 15 and 10. That way rank 20 wouldn't be infested by them.
Would also prevent people from farming rank 20 for wins and golden portraits. You would need to skip a month of ranking up to 5 to be able to stay between 20 and 15. But that's just my guess. They only said extra stars and this seems to be the most logical thing.

However, I'm talking about Team Incompetent so nothing is safe.

Buy first wings of adventures so that you don't have to craft cards for wild.

why would legend players be afraid of this? the actual climb is rank 5 to legend, everything else literally doesn't matter except for the few streamers that try to get to legend in like the first few days
