Meanwhile the effective difference between "4X" and "Grand Strategy" is so nebulous that people honestly think a game must be historically set on Earth and broadly follow historical developments, or else it is not "Grand Strategy." In my personal view, the only 4X games that aren't also GS are games that simply don't bother to have any kind of plausible consistency, like the Civ series (lel Washington fighting Ghandi in 2000BC xDD). Meanwhile, I don't see how SM's Alpha Centauri couldn't be called GS even though mechanically it's a near clone of Civ 2.

I'm wondering if, for the text of a historically-based flavor event, I should just describe what happened historically (as in the Asmara event there), or be more vague to give more leeway for the game's alt-history, so leave out stuff like the last part about the population, because it might not reflect the in-game population?
