Would have to agree with this, he's the only consistent villain. Plus their conflict is what the series was originally about.

Sonic vs. Edgy Sonic, Sonic vs. Time Traveler Sonic, Sonic vs. Bird Sonic, and Sonic vs. Alternate Reality Female Fire Sonic are all neat concepts, but Sonic vs. Metal Sonic is the older, more meaningful conflict A small and abnormally fast animal fighting warped robotic animals is how it all started.

I liked them all except for Lightning, but I do like Lightning's story, simply because he's such a fucking emotional wreck. I like him as a character I guess...his whole honor and embarrassment thing and want for revenge makes him easy to manipulate in the best way.

I'd be fine with the comic ending under one condition: The next few issues are dedicated to addressing the plots set up in Unleashed, and issue 300 is a mega sized issue that wraps up everything in a gigantic mess of fanservice, action, and madness

When the comic does end whether that's this year or in 10 years, that definitely won't happen. It's going to be like the reboot: a scramble to throw something halfway coherent together at the last minute.

Knuckles is "The Rival" of the franchise. He's the one with Main Character and Best Friend status, embodying the right concepts and ideals that can clash and conflict with Sonic. He's the one that, although he's on friendly terms and is often helping, he also challenges Sonic and competes or fights against him quite often.

As Rivals, Metal Sonic, Shadow, and Silver are all counterparts of Sonic. Evil Counterparts, Shadow-Archetypes, or Future legacy successors, they are like reflections of Sonic himself. But it's Knuckles that embodies counteract traits and ideas that rival Sonic's. Their rivalry is like "Is X better than Y, or Y better than X?", instead of "X is the the superior X".

There's also Jet, I guess. He's cool.

Knuckles isn't a red Sonic. Knuckles is like... like... the 'anti-Sonic'. Not like Scourge or anything like that, but more like, the one thing that can counteract and stop what Sonic is. Like, the immovable object to Sonic's unstoppable force. Shadow, Silver, Metal, and even Blaze and Jet are all unstoppable forces against Sonic's unstoppable force.

I'm going to laugh if it turns out some intern fucked up and removed the subscription renewal instead of the backissue order and it gets fixed tomorrow.
