what went wrong
why did it go wrong
why does mitsu hate its modern car division

...

They hated dealing with typical american mitsubishi constumers

...

...

KIA and Hyundai gained momentum and off set Mitsu market share.

shitbox market share,maybe
but there's room for mitsu that isn't just ecoboxes

They couldn't get away with crazy shit like they could in the 80s and 90s, and with the change from Group A to World Rally Cars they stopped giving a shit about keeping the Evo fit for WRC.

Mitsu did so well with the newer Gallant, even if it looked like a Nissan Maxima it was a solid car. now instead of those, people are getting the KIA optima. 3000GT lost its slot completely when the mustang and 350z got a lot better of a car.

dsm gallants are shit

If only.

>Ghosn decides to be cool and breathes life back into Ralliart
>Mitsu brings back the Evo, performance-oriented hybrids and EVs, makes proper turboed sports trims for the Lancer and Mirage
>RWD platform developed for a Starion and Silvia reboot
>3000GT/GTO
>critics and automotive "journalists" still bitch about shitty plastic Mitsu interiors

WRC changed rules
Japan got all the cool stuff
Lancer EVO didn't make it to US until it was too late

...

honestly i would be ok with pontiac-ing mitsu
but the most likely scenario is that mitsu turns into a cheaper nissan

Reminder that the Cyborg R was an underrated piece of fun.

I know it's fwd but damn I want one.

>dude nice EK/swift

im considering getting pic related sometime this year as my first car. any thoughts, is it a good idea?

Very good idea, very reliable. But get one with over 100k on the engine because they take a long time break in.

As if Nissan weren't already cheap.
DESU it would be cool if Ghosn used Mitsu as the sports car development, moving cars such as the Z and anything RWD and fun to Mitsu and keep Nissan as cuck boxes.

Are you Jackie Chan?

My car

Nice quads equatorbro

Have you already spent a ton of time wrenching and learning about turbocharged engines, transfer cases, and electrical systems? Do you have a lift and an engine crane? If not, you may be in for a bad time.

who owns mitsu now and how have they affected the brand? did their products increase or decrease in reliability?

Nissan owns mitsu now.

>"Have you already spent a ton of time wrenching and learning about turbocharged engines, transfer cases, and electrical systems? Do you have a lift and an engine crane?"

nope

>"you may be in for a bad time"

elaborate

My desire to own a 1st-gen AWD DSM is stronk.

® "6-bolt" 4G63 which doesn't get crankwalk.
® Easily modable and stock engine can take moderate-high boost.
® AWD TURBO 2-DOOR COUPE WITH POP-UPS BITCH

Pity they're all goddamn landbarges.

>4G63
>no crankwalk
Does it even exist?

god i hope this jet turns out to not be dogshit.

>Landbarges
>2500 to 3100 lbs

Not that heavy, dawg.

Yes, the only 4G63s that walk the crank are Eclipse/Laser/Talon ones from the 1992.5 model year until 1999, and even then, most don't walk.

I recently bought a mighty max for 300 dollareedoos.

Diggin it. Plans for rallycross.

>Clarkson
"Today on THE COOL WALL - The Mighty Max!. What does our audience think? How about you, madame?"
>Fat british bitch
"Uncool, seriously uncool"
>Clarkson
"Ooohhhh. no, see that's where you're wrong..."
"SUBZERO!!!!"

I had '95 VR4 as my first car at 17. I had it for 3-4 months. It was reliable for the time I owned it, but the next owner was not so lucky. There are cars that are better and cheaper.

I have been driving professionally for the last 17 years, plus 15 years private motoring before that. Seen a lot of cars. Just about every time I see a car belching out blue oil smoke, it's a Mitsubishi. Their engine components are made of chocolate.

THAT ASS

Crankwalk develops when shithead "modders" remove the balance shafts and change the weight of pulleys, flywheels and replacing the OEM clutch with a "heavy" or "hard" one. In rare cases crankwalk develops by high mileage, while in most cases its the fucktards fault who "mod" the engine while increasing the main bearing wear by 5 times.

Crankwalk is a meme created by fucktards that can't take the blame, that their actions fucked up the engine in the first place.

...

As a first car, i wouldn't buy it, especially when its past history is unknown or missing maintenance records.
As a 2nd car for driving on weekends or inbetween, sure why not but not as a daily.
Most of them have been abused (modded) to shit and have piled up never done maintenance schedules.

Get something else that is easy to wrench on and learn the basics and think about a 3000GT a few years down the road, when you gathered some wrenching experience.

Knowledge about electrical systems won't hurt you either, since it is indeed a complicated car with a fuckton of sensors.

At the moment its hibernating in a dry garage.

Quite excited for spring and to do the first spring cleaning, polishing, rustproofing and maintenance.

Depending on how mature you are, you'll be fine. You can learn to work on your car but you need to be precise and careful. Make sure you have the right tools before you do anything, and diagram where every bolt and screw you took out went to.

The engine is very cramped so there is no room for error. Buy a telescopic magnet and use it for every thing you remove. A garage helps too. If you are noob you can add a air filter, but don't even think about replacing lifter or a tranny. Take that to an engine specialist

3000gt, mechanically are cool, but if you are buying a 20yo car the interiror is guaranteed to be falling apart and might need repairs.

Get the twin turbo versions too, and don't get suckered into a price only to find out its the base model without the cool shit the car had(turbo/awd/awsteering/aero)

Don't buy one with any knocknockknocknocking sound(its about to die), but a tickticktickticktick(depending on how many miles) you could be alright.

>silvia
do you not know what a Silvia is, or do you want a nissubishi to counter the toyobaru?

sorry, I didn't know

>tfw nothing will ever replace my 2007 eclipse when it dies

138k still going strong pls don't die ;_;

i love the car. just wish it had AUX REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

This is autism

Thicc

My 2012 Lancer 2.4L AWD

given that my only driving experience is with a taurus, cavalier, mustang, and a small kia
the 01 galant ES is comfy as fuck and feels much more spacious
