Hey Veeky Forums, in my search for lightweight car with decent power I've come across two great options. Both options are dead reliable, and with all said and done I plan to drop $15,000 into the car and will daily drive it once done so no forced induction.
>$2000 nc miata with no engine >$6000 to goodwinracing for 2.5L mzr swap (200whp) (this includes labor) >$7000 left over for mods
>$2000 mr2 spyder with no engine >$5000 1.8L 2zz monkeywrenchracing swap (190whp)(includes labor) >$8000 left over for mods
Which do you guys think is better? I'm leaning towards the miata of the torque, the MR-S doesn't really make power till 6k rpm.
the listed engine swaps drop right in and bolts to the stock transmission, it's basically like swapping in an oem engine

Why not just buy an FD RX-7? For 15k you're really going to buy a tarted up version of a cheap little car rather than getting something in the league above?

because i just want something fun and reliable to beat the shit out of

OP, go for the NC i literally cannot wait til the 2.0 shits the bed in mine
dynotronics in texas does built 2.5 installs for under $7k easy 225+ whp
>tarted up fuck off bong yer just mad u fags only 1.8 liter NCs

this
the 2.5 mzr is literally bored and stroked 2.0 mzr
dynotronics did 2 of my friends NCs and the power is great
it wont rev as high but the difference in torque is ridiculous
driving a swapped NC made me want the 2.5 over a FI setup fer dat reliability

What about the S2000 if you have 15k? I guarantee that it would be a better daily then those 2.

It wouldn't because all the power is up top. The miata beats it out in daily drivability
