You know why those A8s are so cheap?

Because NOBODY in their right mind wants them. They're technology showcases that use all of the latest, newest, shiniest gadgets and engines when they're still cutting-edge stuff, so they're very complicated and usually have lots of proprietary, very expensive parts.

So what usually happens is a richfag buys it new, drives it for a while, then sells it off right before the first major service and moves on to the newer model.
The next buyer thinks "a flagship Audi for less than half its MSRP and it's only a few years old? fucking score!" and promptly gets slapped across the face with a huge service bill, which makes him realize he really can't afford to run a car like that, so he sells it off at a big loss again.
Repeat until you end up with D2 A8s that cost literally less than 1k.
