Quick question, what's better: functional programming or OOP

feminine programming

>spend hours on dungeon
>have friend playtest
>it takes him 1 minute to finish

Fuck me.

HARD WORK AND GUTS

I always feel sorry for the people who make Sonic levels

>gunbuster
Should be called nut buster instead tbqhwyf

reposting my question in this thread i accidentally posted it twice in the last one kek anyway here

are twitch dev streams actually any good for getting the word out about your game/getting donation shekels?

i mean if you trudge through the shit that is the livestreaming community and deal with all the bullshit you have to do to get a decent stream set up does it actually amount to anything?

PUFFY

thanks for not fucking up the OP

The only people actually interested in that kind of stream are other devs (and very few non-devs). And those will usually stop watching when they notice they can't learn anything from watching you do it.

I would say the livestreams are bad for your personal development

If you want to do it, I would honestly, record the development session offline, then just stream the video playback and answer questions in chat when/if they come up.

Unless you're doing something like that project that's being entirely streamed, its not worth it.

Twitch as a platform is good for a lot of things, but it's absolutely not good for game development since there is a lot of fucking around and often you're going back to something way after the fact.

Youtube is a much better platform for game dev stuff imo.

I can understand people watching video games. Watching other people dev though? Unless you're already friends with the person or part of their dev team, I literally see no reason why would you do this other than looking for more things to procrastinate to.

live coding can teach you a lot.
art as well.

Is there an AGDG for nongame dev?

> other than looking for more things to procrastinate to.
That's the appeal maybe. It's a kind of procrastination, but not as bad as marathoning some tv show or edging for 5 hours

I wouldn't watch deving but I'd watch art/animation under the right circumstances weed and comfy music

Some fag called Dan Schifferman (I think) does dev streaming, but he's doing it as a tutorial session, not as progress stream.

>entering college for software engineering
>can't even see second semester classes because of pre requisites
>can't even see linear algebra until second semester this year
>calculus I
>can't even enroll in japanese because it conflicts with calculus I
>had to take sports and deaf language as aditional (for fun)
wew lads.

Damn I love strong women.
Too bad there's a lack of them in real life...

>frogposting
>blogposting
Quality.

>linear algebra comes after calculus
tired of this meme

you'll never use any of those in game dev

Give me some different punch attacks

I have normal ones, a lunge with a bigger range, and an uppercut to knock enemies into the air.

>be NEET
>google "how to software engineer"
>google "how to calculus 1"
>google "how to Japanese"
>learn everything for free

sluts and whores

being a software engineer is the most usefull thing to gamedev.

>self study meme

>discover that calculus is a lie
>get stuck on reinventing math

I admit Japanese self study can be hard, especially if you want to be good at speaking it.

Isn't Japanese one of the 5 hardest languages to learn or something?

>linear algebra
>literally just studying lines
holy shit the autism

>self study meme
It works as long as you have discipline and a decent attention span. If it doesn't work for you is because you lack those.

depends on your culture, the hardest thing is from east and westerner to learn each other language.
japanese and chinese are extremelly hard for a westener, meanwhile english and romance languages are extremelly hard for japanese.

>rather than going to planet fitness this retard uses calisthenics and a home made gym

>he doesn't know opengl and computer graphics are basically linear algebra with trigo

>I need someone to teaching me how to wip my ass.

>I need a strong woman to whip my ass for motivation

That sounds hot

dude I wasted a decade with the self taugh meme.
I could had get a PHD by now.

fuck you.

PHD's are meaningless self congratulatory participation awards

This would honestly help me dev more.

if you wasted it you weren't doing it right

Reminder that you're all just going to die someday and all of your hard work and the games you'll make or you've made will be wasted and forgotten.

>implying the heat death of the universe will destroy something meta like information

>first year nihilist baby
>not becoming like notch and fucking whores all day

mine won't

A game which takes place entirely in the installation process. Once the game finishes installing, it is over.

Or has it just begun...?

gunbuster is Cute!. ... CUTE!!!

>aced my final Uni exam
>now I'll have more time to dev
YES! GET READY FOR SOME WIDE PROGRESS

[x] gonna make it

If there's one thing that this general has proven it is that anime posters don't make game.

Reminder to not add a red cross in your game. A red cross is a trademarked symbol by the Red Cross.

>Starts off with the default EULA, next next next crap
>gradually asks more odd questions with spooky background transitions
>Installation complete, [x] view readme.txt
>Never actually installs anything, it was a regular.exe

That's bullshit.

t. Animeposter I suppose?

put a swastika in your game instead

heh, you're a queer fellow

The Prison Architect devs broke the Geneva convention because the game had a red cross on paramedics and ambulances.

which one?
>client code passes a function pointer into the object pooling system which it will call to configure the spawned object before it goes live
or
>the pooling system only spawns it in a deactivated state and the client code configures it and then sets it live

It's not a trademark violation, it's actually worse than that.
youtube.com/watch?v=ciTkI6FqZqw

Should I implement saving and loading before or after I make all the game's menus. For some reason I feel like one or the other is worse.

what about EA?

I can't believe that after all of these years of being a nodev failure I'm finally almost done. I know commercial success isn't likely but.. at least I'll have done something in my life. Finished one single thing.

Heya! It's me, ____

Different types of study work for different types of people.

You literally did though...

do you remember the dunning krugger effect?
that's self taugh faggots.

...

there was no one to teach him how to do it right of course he didn't do it right

>check to see the red cross meme on google
>is legit
>you can get in legal trouble for it

>meme

...

...

i have a great idea, i post my code and you refactor for me?

Anyone got tips on designing towns

if american: use a grid
if european: use a random net

They don't count because they're large and rich.

if c/++, yes

It's not video games

There's a war criminal in this thread RIGHT NOW.

can you do c#? please?

sure why not, you can fix any irregularities, close enoughs.

Well why aren't you devving on your video game

You better not sit close to me, boy.

>making simple prototype game with red rectangles
>by chance some rectangles align in a way that forms a red cross
>now a war criminal

thanks, the update function really is the biggest mess

I haven't been working once since I've entered the art part of the dev.

I was thinking of starting a new project but it's going to end the same with no art so there's no point.

What's /agdg/'s opinion on Clickteam Fusion 2.5?

i'm continuing my work from last night and checking different styles for the HUD elements so they can fit my new style and be easier to draw on screen

not pictured: me making notes about gauge animations and how to implement "extra" HP and MP

not enough fusion desu

Will your game have jump scares? I love spooky things but I can't stand jump scares or screamers.

You should add those patterns on the HP and MP bar, and make the empty spots a solid color

Well, I'm working on getting techniques and stuff going and then I'll get down to doing the gameplay finally.
