Appalachian Veeky Forums Meetup Thread: We're probably gonna be in Virginia edition

STRAWPOLL TO DECIDE FINAL DATE: surveymonkey(insert . com here)/r/G9659VY

DISCORD: discord.gg/RJG5rsC

Looks like we're gonna have a pretty decent turnout based on survey results. This friday when the survey ends the final map will be drawn, and we'll be all set to go this April!

Be sure to join the discord to keep up with all further announcements

remember not to touch the plants in the national parks while doing th curves at 70

Glad to see another thread up. Traffic on this board has picked up alot since last year it seems.

Yeah with /pol/ raiding us and the massive amount of people trying to get away from politics I'm not surprised. People have been questioning me on why I'm using a Discord and decentralizing the meetup from Veeky Forums but this is exactly why, the only downside is it's hard to keep the thread going

Bumping.

Are there any NC fags here? Specificity near Greensbro or Siler City? Maybe even Asheboro?

Used to live in GSO, live in the Triangle now.

i've found myself getting further and further away from /pol/ and the other meme boards in favor of the slower ones

If it is on the 15th I will definitely come.
Also i just made this...

>having an appalachian meetup not on the dragons tail

Just got back from vacation in North ga and seriously how do you guys drive those roads so fast without shitting yourselves? Does it just get more comfortable to do with practice? How long does it take to accept the fact that you're 3 feet away from a 300 foot drop?

I'm in clemmons

get faster everytime you go on it till you remember the curve and feel the need for speed

git gud.

This is difficult because my gf would literally puke any time I drove remotely spirited. Does the body eventually acclimate to this?

Clayton.

I drive like an idiot to i have no sense of fear till shits already happened.

Sounds like you're over thinking it m8, just don't fuck up!

hahahaha what

I'm on the border of NC and TN, 30 mins from tail of the dragon

Part of it is trust and part of it is balls or aclimation of danger.

You have to trust yourself and your car to have the skills and equipment necessary to make it. The other part is being unafraid of sliding off the cliff either from being brave stupid or just getting ussd to it so it doesn't bother you.

I love it personally. Grew up in the piedmont. Went to wcu for college and eventually got a job up in the mountians. I love it up here.
