hows my hmls for my 25/50 str/arc build (made it as autistic as i can in about 3 hours): ATK up 19.5% phys 7.8 atk vs kin down 10.1%, atk up 21.5% add phys +15 atk vs kin down 11.3%, atk up +21.5% boosts rally 2.8% increase stamina cost 3,2%

It already is. Combat is pretty decent, the bow works very well, don't care for the movement or the meme-tier lethality where you die in 2-3 hits and everyone else takes 5-6 at least, which exists solely for hardcore elitists who define difficulty as quality. Also, no atmosphere. One of the most important part of Souls and Bloodborne is atmosphere.

Gitgud by changing your L1 with circle button via the accessibility menu, also by practicing the game because you will only get better over time. Farming for health potions can be done by getting a bunch of blood echos and buying potions with them. Chalice dungeons are a good source of blood echos, but you might not be able to fully utilize the dungeons this early in the game.
the L1/Circle swap is purely experimental and boils down to personal preference

No, unless there's a glitch I don't know about.

You can equip any rune you find, there's no pre-requisits save for actually having the rune tool from Hemwick. You can equip level 1-3 runes and they stack. Of each type of rune (metamorphosis, deep sea, arcane lake, etc.) there's three levels (I think there may be one or two rune types with four levels). You can equip and unequip runes in the dream any time, they're not permanent.

What is the best secondary effect on a gem? Flat damage?

ATK vs open foes UP, most definitely.

If you have two of them at ~5%, it turns your weapon into a monstrous critical hit machine. You do like 40% more damage on counter hits vs regular hits

I fought him at the end of his quest when he had the wheel and he was really fucking strong. Never fought him in cathedral ward; over there he has a Kirkhammer and he's supposed to be much easier. My bad, I thought he would be like he was when he had the wheel

this I always 600 bullets/vials and then I spend money on any other thing until my storage is full.

I wont stop leveling up one of my characters until I get 99 VIT, 99 ARC, 40 END and 50 of everything else. It seems extremely pointless to level anything else beyond that.

I already have 99/99 + 99/99 of every item you buy with echoes, and I'm starting to get to that point even with consumables you gotta buy at the insight shop (just from finding them)

why is it considered preferable to use two cold abyssals and only one fire/bolt/arcane ATK UP gem when converting a physical weapon to elemental? I thought the scaling effect can only do so much past a certain point? Why wouldn't a second percent-based gem be better for damage over a second arcane scaling abyssal?

You will never be able to beat it, anime-kun, just accept it.

Echoes will be at the top of the ladder/close to the wolfmen, you respawn at Cleric beast and you get around 30/40 vials each run iirc.

It's true that scaling will do no good past a certain point, that's why you only put one Heavy Abyssal when doing STR builds, but most weapons have poor arcane scaling so another Abyssals is preferable. Notice that arcane weapons like wheel and moon sword don't require them.

they put so many weapons in the DLC, and some of them are really fun. as someone playing through this game for the first time, im kinda annoyed that i stuck so closely to the vanilla weapons (basically only used cleaver/axe) and have only just now (as the game draws to a close) have got a taste of all the new shit, but i guess it basically forces me to do a NG+ run at least...

this saw-blade thing feels way too strong...

every rune has 3 types apart from communion and formless oedon which have 5, and guidance which only has two (third may exist but has never been found). you cannot equip the same rune more than once even if you have multiple copies, but the same rune of different strengths can be equipped in all slots ie you can use communion +3/4/5 for an extra 12 vials
