I usually have no problem with needing to put in some effort to make my H-Simulation games work. But CM3D2 just seems like to fucking much.

Loads of them. You need a guard, a decoy, cross invalid if not full range invalid, and magic resist for each squad, and cheap units often make good decoys. Ideally you want to slot multiple roles onto one person so you can free up more slots for damage dealing and optional support. A cheap guard can easily do decoy and cross invalid at the same time. Cheap healers can sometimes get away with decoy and magic defense if the rest of the squad has high defense, often happens in devil caster squads or high activity squads

Daemon knight can do cross and magic.
Kurlahon the drunk imp is pretty good when you get accessories that enhance combat skills.
Priest and high priest are great healbots and magic defense.
Nocturne blade is a good damage dealer with generic activity skills.
Kappa is decoy, cross and flank invalid with a shield slot free.
Kaasu is highly intelligent and good for dropping into a squad for the assist skill boost when maxed out.
Heirophant has a 20% full capacity up AND down tactical skill.
Kobold engineer isn't quite as mental as she was in Hypno but she has aux tactics, which is now much rarer.
Any S-rank shitter with a whip slot can use either the lindwurm tail or the genesis tentacle to instantly become a competitive damage dealer, even if it's just your starting imp.

Probably the most notable trash unit is the Gravedigger. Absorb 50, shadow court in his armor slot, and target pass would let him do 3 roles at once. That means 4 free slots, which is huge.

Because you have 10 squads to kit out and there is no point in paying over the odds, especially since being S rank is quite powerful in its own right. Find me 1 unique who can compress 3 roles into 1 like the Gravedigger, then 9 more, because that's how many you'll need to make him irrelevant.

Not much choice other than carved seal and either gjallerhorn or the 40 slash. She's kind of a killing joke unit, I could probably find a better place to put it like on a genesis tentacle imp. She does have ranged invalid, though.

Well you would when you realised that both absorb and reflect work differently in this game and it in fact works for everyone. 50 absorb is 100% cover. Asura has it too, giving her cross and magic resist 100%. This means Norn's best title is her reflect bonus.
