Bows aren't really that bad, they just don't do as much DPS as other weapons so people automatically think they're shit

Dread is useful for bow-only sorties and the like. I also find it pretty fun since you can easily get red crits with it and it has a great chance at proccing bleed.

Dread is best bow. Bows are good for assassination missions, and there are bow only mission. Just don't bring a bow to a defense mission, and no one will complain.

Bows are fun and can do some pretty good damage, it's just that single target damage isn't that desired in a game like this but innate punch-through can help. Plus Rakta Cernos' syndicate proc.

Making Frost as my first warframe was a mistake. He ruined me for every other frame by being too good. All the other frames I've made just feel like complete garbage and make me want to finish leveling them so I can switch back to Frost ASAP

The path I took was braton and braton mk-1, then karak, then boltor, then soma

Don't do this. Stick to things that use rifle mods until you have all the core rifle mods max. Trying to max them and shotgun mods at the same time is counter productive. There are a lot more things that use rifle mods as well, which makes sticking to rifles better for your MR too.

Shotguns are infinitely easier to build when you first start out as all of their basic mods are dirt cheap and not a single one of them is r10.

That's the point, serration isn't a primed mod so it is easier to comeby, works on far more weapons and weapon types than primed point blank and isn't just wasted effort because of a prime existing.

Why the fuck would an MR4 have or worry about primed fucking point blank? Common rank 5 Point Blank costs significantly less than an uncommon 10 rank.

But shotguns are so powerful that they don't need a primed damage mod to be useful. Less money and endo into a Point Blank and a Hek is more effective in the long term than most rifles with a maxed Serration. For a new player they stand to lose little by switching to shotguns early on and taking them all the way to sorties, then going back and reviewing their rifle selection.

Shotguns also use very low mod capacity, though granted I don't think the Hek starts with any polarity slots which IS a little shitty.

It's also useful just to have one around anyways for weapons later on that can't support a fully ranked prime point blank without more forma.

That's like one or two hieracon runs for us, but it is a lot for new players, plus he would need to max the other shotgun mods too. Then they would only work on shotguns.

Meanwhile rifle mods work on rifles, snipers, bows, launchers, and so on. That is a lot more versatility and MR potential.

No, he should focus on rifle mods and MR first. He is likely to have PPB by the time that is done anyway.
