I was told I need to work on some kind of ass skin interior to be allowed to post here. Any tips for beginners?
>any tips for beginners?
Yes. Ignore Crownon.
Drive with more experienced 4x4rs and they will give you tips. Bring more than you think you need.
nice monte, friend! i love the 2 door swb
gen 2.5 was best gen although yours looks pretty neat
any plans for it?
what do you mean by tips?
Here's my 2.5 with air locker.
Nice jeep
I wanted tips on how to make ass skin interiors. Goofy dude in previous thread was talking about them. Was just kidding
locker coming soon
For the SWB I'm actually putting in an axle and air locker out of a Montero Sport. Might eventually up the gearing and put bigger tires on it but 30"s and the old man emu lift are good for now. I am able to get most places. I take the 2.5 out on longer trips since I can sleep in it.
Also that's a sweet ride. What else do you have planned for it? Back bumper upgrade (or front first?).
Put yourself on the map here:

user, don't say the word "ass" here. It always leads to bad situations.

the 2.5 is a great overlander nice choice.
>t always leads to bad situations.
bad situations you say
like naughty ones?
What that crow guy always shows up when they're mentioned? lol
I'll do front custom bumper and a winch when I get some more stuff done + my third kid is on the way. I'm also putting a weber and snorkel on it soon.
Ok on the map now.
Spagett!
Yeah obviously I want big ass tires but that's a ways in the future. Plus my SWB is only the 4banger so I want higher gearing and maybe even an engine swap. I've been into fast cars until two years ago when I found out how awesome overlanding was. I have like 5 cars right now and they get expensive fast haha.

Nice. Tailgaiting is really fun with offroaders especially with dual batteries. Weber grill a good choice.
my buddy's CJ-7 has a weber in it, too
What's the front bumper going to look like? Solid or Tube? I did a custom for Taynger and she turned out great. The best part is that I have an easier lift point and I can stand on my vehicle if it's ever in a rut head down. It does consistently look like it has an underbite, though.
Why not both?
Go away >:
whos the girl?
Picc of Taynger's custom winch bumper when it was first put on.
It's a really nice little set I got for just under $1000. The bad part of solids is the sheer amount of paint that will go on it in the next few years. I mean, I could just let it slowly rust away, though...

Buy street tires, don't mind that 4x4 conversion you've been putting off, invest in just lights and bump stops, drive alone, and use "I have a locker" as an excuse to call yourself an off-roader

have you had any problems with your idler pulley squeaking after getting in mud?
I almost have my dual battery stuff setup. Probably going to just do a simple tube or maybe keep the stock bumper and build a winch mount under it. Trying to get some longer trips planned this summer.

Shit guys we're already at 30 images
Almost? I a few threads back, an ENGfag north of Indianapolis was going to help me install my dual battery setup by building a fuse / diode / alternator case from simple items from the hobby shoppe. I know the burbfag in Northern Michigan wanted in on this too.
So If you can wait until April or something, I could take a trip down to the Michigan / In border so that we all can work on the dual battery setups.
I think I may drive down to British Colombia this summer so the dual batter setup could end up saving me a lot of money on motels / hotels. 2-3 weeks of oberlanding and offroading. Can't w8!
Tube would be less expensive for sure. The back looks a bit weak so you could get two tubes for the price of one solid.
Sure, I can
I have the deep cycle battery and I have the wire run. Will probably use something like this
amazon.com
How are you protecting the surge when you connect and disconnect the axillary batteries? OR are you just buying that $350 set that will be able to accompany 250a of power? Thought, if you're doing two deep cycles, you will probably require the 500a just in case.
Why are you using two deep cycles again?
Wait what are you talking about with the surge? I'm just leaving a single 100amp hour battery plugged into the back. That thing disconnects the circuit when cranking and when the primary battery reaches a certain voltage. They use them in boats.
Even cheaper way would be this. amazon.com
When you're jumping the running battery with the axillary battery, it can generate up to 300A through the wires.
How are you regulating which battery is on / off without spending like $500 on a sensor setup?
I will probably never jump the primary battery and if I do it will be with jumper cables.
Here's info on those.
This is very helpful. I'm gonna go message that ENGfag and see how his Fodge is doing then get back to you with the schematics.
Good night, Monterag!
Lunch box aussie locker is on its way!
new acquisition
also fuck going to friday harbor
nice!
what made you go aussie over spartan? currently debating between the two
I don't think there is really any difference and the Aussie has a 2 year warranty, so that's a big plus.
>autismo rack
>backoff flap on the front fender
>manlet steps
holy shit i didn't even notice that until I got stoned
now i can't stop laughing at this. especially the "backoff flap on the front fender"
>Manlet steps
>manlet steps
>on a baby trucc
how tall are you 4'-8"
>>manlet steps
Dumbass that's so the lil hottie hookers can climb in
allowing manlet hookers into a single cab baby trukk.
I guess that's more than enough space for manlets in that baby trukk
you better BACK OFF M80
maybe that truck is bagged
>bagged truck
>still needs manlet steps
Can't make this shit up
Being tall sucks. It's hard to fit in small cars.
fool those are mud scrapers. WA. pac no'west
Then don't buy small cars. Problem solved
MURPHY CONTINUES TO FORSAKE ME!!!!!
Oil cooler and rear main seal are still leaking cuz I've had the flu this week and don't want to fuck with it atm.
Now it looks like the power steering may be starting to leak. REEEEEEEEEEEEERR
Welcome! Nice Montero! Beginner advice for off road or for posting in /org?
>Bring more than you think you need
>Says the guy in a YJ :-P
When I had my old Jeep I couldn't pack much back there. I just hoped and prayed I never got stuck. Actually come to think of it recovery gear can give people a false sense of confidence...
EVERYONE POST UP IN THE MAP!!!!!!!!!!!
Still into fast cars.
I have accepted the fact I'm going to be that old creepy man with a barn full of shitboxes someday
Since when did you get Hellas up front Crownon? How do you like them? My brush guard Hellas are 20 years old and a bit fucked... looking for replacements.

>Are optimas a meme?
Yes
spartan has much beefier components thats why i was leaning towards it
aussie has been around longer tho
Awesome! Back when I had mine the only times I got it stuck could have been avoided if there wasn't an open diff in the rear. That thing will be pretty badass offroad!
why would they need to match?
its actually a lot better if they are different types
>dat deep cycle
hasnt it been established that you should just buy one you retarded poorfag?
i guess im supposed to rip that shit off before i even get it home then eh?
and god forbid anyone potentially leave functional parts like a material rack on it.
>tfw highly modern cell phone telephone
taylor swift posters fuck off you are causing the threads to hit imagecap earlier than they have to
well, regardless I still only have a 4 banger and 31's. Max 33's in the future.
As someone who ran a Spartan locker, and beat the ever loving shit out of it, I'd say they are quite durable. But to say it is noticeably stronger then an Aussie locker is debatable. Plus I've read the Aussie lockers are much quieter, and all the jeep guys swear by them, so they must be doing something right...
I've cocked up and got 35s for my truck.
It is stock 31.5
How fucked am I?
Oh yeah it totally isn't the constant barrage of 10-20 overused memes that happen when someone says an autistic trigger word.
Depends on your gearing. I ran 35s on my jeep with stock 3.73s for years.
See>
Stock 3.55.
It happily cruises home at 55 for 1450rpm now, and can get up to 80 without having to drop out of overdrive.
I'm just worried it won't have the power to cruise in overdrive, as well as the 1400rpm cutoff for OD
>tv remote holster
>mexishit seat cover
>fragrence tree
provingmypoint/10
Because their uses are different. Especially with their discharge and recharge of current over unit time.
Though, the build is normally negligible. It only starts to show itself if you do a lot of quick charging or jumping each other or other high stress work.
Also see:
>you can modify them from there kys i hate you
Nah. We're making fun of the previous owner, user, don't worry. You have to admit that it's at least a bit funny.
Are you going to build something on that rack or just dismantle it? I can see some really good oberlanding adventures if you keep it on!
Also the interior. Mmmmm. Aesthetic.
Why do you hang your black ice on your shifter, user?
What's the gearing? I'm up 4inch up to something like 4.80 or so. Really good for the highway. I don't really want to regear because not really worth it at this point.
>muh work trucc
You done fucked up, you're gonna kill your transmission...
If I do, I'm putting a 6 speed in it anyway.
Did I miss something? How are stock 3.55s killing his transmission
Stock 3.55s with 35" tires will kill the transmission... Dumbass
The gears are different after the size increase.
How are the gears different after changing to a bigger tire? He said he added bigger tires, didn't say anything about regearing. IE the transmission will have more stress on it due to the high gearing with the taller tires.
The 2wd versions had 3.12s, I'm sure it can handle it down the highway.
I think he's confusing stock gearing with the gear after tyre increase.
My question is what stock vehicle is 3.55 with 32s. Also, how easy it is to switch in a 6 speed.
Considering hacking up the rack and building a camping shell off it since it's a quick disconnect setup and it's sturdy as hell.
As for the trees, that's just where they were when I got it and haven't bothered with them yet.
Been going through all the mechanical goodies to see how good a candidate it is for a mild built 360 swap first.
I found the original owners maintenance booklet in the cab, he was definitely an autist, he logged the date and mileage of all work done even logged every tank of gas. So I have anal retentive accurate logs up to about 8 years ago.
>I found the original owners maintenance booklet in the cab, he was definitely an autist, he logged the date and mileage of all work done even logged every tank of gas. So I have anal retentive accurate logs up to about 8 years ago.
I-I-I did that to Taynger until she got mugged at knifepoint and they stole only a tyre repair kit that had all my work done to her in the past year... ):
That's really helpful to have, though. One of the good types of autism. Picc of front of trucc pls.
Also consider rotating the mudflaps.
Ram 1500. As for the 6 speed, I'd have to find a donor truck, but as far as mounts and transfer case, it all just bolts up. Can even use a 2wd 6 speed on a 4x4, it just werks.
Just swap columns, interior trim, ecu, pedal box.
Probably can use the auto column and just take off the stick, but ehh.
1500 might have room to put in a gear depending on the year. At least you'll definitely be able to fit in the 6 speed tucked underneath.
I was looking at getting Taynger a 6 speed but I don't think I can fit the extra few inches of length under her belly.
Swap the seat off it too, ofc. Also... yeah the stick.
I'll have to get some pics later, work has kept me out from dark to dark for the most part and my few early days I had spent fixing the fueling issues
>efi somehow worked on
>too busy fixing shit to put my lift on
Hauled to the shop today, probably something simple, haven't had time to look at it.
