Why the fuck do people like rotary engines? They're literally the worst thing to own. The ONLY good thing about rotaries are the sound. Other than that, they're absolute garbage
Special snowflake syndrome, you hardly see em on road. Sage'd
Robert Richardson
>Sound >Compact size >Lightweight >high revving >runs very smoothly with little to no vibration
They do have their perks...
Jacob Flores
The Rx-8 is shit in stock from but it has an excellent suspension. Double wishbone at the front and a multi link setup at the rear. There are perfect condition body cars with a blown up enigine on craigslist for $2-4K. All it really needs is a engine swap to be an excellent car.
Jason Butler
it's literally a 2+2 Miata coupe.
Asher Johnson
>sound
They sound like shit.
Jaxon Campbell
Wich engine wouldn´t fuck up the centre of gravity? The 13b renesis is insanely light.
Hudson Murphy
A LS or a K series
Samuel Wright
Too heavy.
Wyatt Hall
"no"
Tyler Thomas
>doubble the weight of a 13b renesis >not to heavy
James Young
>not to heavy tru
Evan Brooks
The RX-8 is already front heavy, increasing the weight of the engine would make it even worse.
Jason Smith
"no"
Thomas Smith
It has 55% weight on its front axle and 45% on the rear...
Caleb Young
D O R I T O
I like them even with all their shitiness
Jaxson Perry
i fixed your car
thank me later
Christopher Edwards
>make 2+2 miata into locan´t turn No, just no.
Robert Moore
According to Mazda it does have a 50:50 weight ratio (including fluids and a 75kg driver).
I mean yeah it does change when the tank is empty and the driver is obese.. That's not what I'd call front heavy though.
Kevin Jackson
55 at the front is not what I would consider as heavy.
Robert Brown
Mazda didn´t mention it precisely enough, I looked it up. According to the RX-forum it is 52,2/47,8 And the fully assembled engine is 124kg, this includes the whole belt assembly. A LS would be much more, even a K-series would be to much.
A way to get the ballance better would be a electric conversion with the battery in the trunk and the controller+engine in the front.
Luis Peterson
52,2 with the original ultralight engine, a V-8 would fuck it up.
Zachary Clark
>coupe Rx8 has 4doors.
Kayden Roberts
More power than a 70s big block v8 Uses less oil than any modern Honda or bmw or audi or vw etc Goes 200k miles on just oil and spark plug changes, unlike the corvette c7 which blows up within 1000 miles routinely (not a single c7 corvette has reached 200k miles btw)
But huur duur rotary so bad
Camden Garcia
>Rx8 has 4doors. Calling those easy entry flaps doors
Anyway... You do know what Coupé means, don't you?
Blake Turner
Yes, anything heavier fucks the balance up, but you already have a good balanced platform so the additional weight won't fuck up as much as something which is like 60+% stock. Also you can go for something lighter than a v8 and contain the damage even more
Jacob Foster
It is already somewhat front heavy. The stock engine is insanely light and pretty short, while the whole car is pretty light. Putting a longer more heavy engine in the front would fuck it up.
If you would go with a 1.0L ecoboost, it wouldn´t change the ballance significantly, but it would loose 100hp. You would need something as light, powerfull and short as a Wankel.
Jaxon Ward
The more forward engine compartment also means swaps ruin weight distro much more than on an FD.
Carter Lee
It'll even out because it'll be so much faster on the straights...
Xavier Wood
>a 75kg driver Is this the average Jap male?
Charles Cook
>Why the fuck do people like rotary engines? NFI personally as i dont like them but studying autism in Veeky Forums for like 10 years i can say this
>Muh uniqueness >Dat sound >meh small package >easy to work on >loves boost >loves RPM >Loves to race and run at the edge Sort of like a big Dorito 2 stroke i guess without the dump downsides
Jace Carter
>Turbo 400 Gross
Oliver Scott
>Not including a picture of an afternoon
Ian Parker
Too bad they had to go and stuff it in a pigfat chassis.
Brandon Carter
No idea what im talking about, the post
The chassis is the ONLY good thing about the rx8
Ayden Mitchell
I think that people who know what they are doing or have read up on them go and defend them from the repetitive shit that is 'lol apex seals' and this is interpreted as loving them by those who see no upside to them. They have their ups and their downs like every other engine. The 2 sides for and against rotaries just seem to be at each other's throats all the time.
The new C7's have the kinks worked out and are just as reliable. They're too new to see that mileage yet.
Isaac Powell
Very true. Any SERIOUS racer is a rotary enthusiast
Thomas Anderson
Or the engine that puts out 20hp less than a 13bre while being 100 times more reliable
Chase Phillips
oh fuck that benchracers love rotaries because it makes them feel special.
Jaxson Hughes
Bench racers hate rotaries because all they can look at is horsepower and mpg
Jonathan Evans
As a matter of fact thats 20 pounds more than the average Jap male and about 10 more than the average weight of a race car driver (who are still mostly manlets)
But knowing what they use for a reference does explain why I don't fit in a Miata at 6'4"
Jackson Young
I've got the Solution to the problem.
Landon Carter
You forgot >Endorsed by Britney Spears
Hunter Taylor
>4 cylinders >4 camshafts (complexity and weight) >weird as fuck layout for wrenching >muh head gasket
I can admit I love the sound of a flat 4, its just the added complexity of two headers and 4 camshafts for just 4 cylinders. A lot of weight on the front axle.
Nathaniel Powell
13b Renesis weights 247 lbs, EJ207 324lbs. So We wouldn't be adding that much more weight, and if were already going to do a motor swap, putting in 3 ply headgaskets wont be a big deal.
Plus muh lower center of gravity meme.
Landon Perez
It's at least 30% more weight.
Guys who will debate till the sun dies that swapping is better need to realise that any piston engine with the same or more power will weigh more and/or put more weight in front of the axle. Both are bad things.
At the end of the day the car was designed around the rotary. How it is packaged means that it is always the best option.
William Gomez
Don't these things weigh like 3000+ lbs and only make around 200horse?
James Smith
kek
Gabriel Moore
its a two stoke m8 everyone knows the closest to straight explosions are the best, why need 4 strokes when you can have 2. fuck rockets are even better, the 1 stroke, they even explode.
Gabriel Adams
230ish
Not much better, originally mazda was just going to use the 13brew again, but new emissions standards wouldn't let them.
fuck this gay earth.
Jaxson Gonzalez
Just don't get mazda "performance" cars in general. They're bad at it. I had a 944S as my first car and got amazing gas mileage out of it with decent power (it had a s2 swap in it, n/a tho). The car was just efficient as fuck. Now I have a speed3 and the mother fucker needs to fill up every week after only traveling like 100 miles while not even hitting 300hp. Fucking japfags can't do shit right
Isaiah Morgan
Mazda was always more about light weight and cornering than about power.
Lucas Taylor
Yea, all that cornering I'm getting done in a 3000 pound fwd car. As opposed to the 30 year old, 50/50 weight distribution shit box I had before retard
Connor Perez
The Mazda3 was never meant to be a performance car. The Speed3 is just a better trim level.
Julian Bennett
Are you retarded or just retarded? Not performance lol just performance suspension and turbod with 100hp on the normal 3 lol. Just designed to go up against gtis and stis, you know...the performance hatches. That's like calling a SHO a trim level lol.
Carson Johnson
Why bother trying to find ways to do a swap and not fuck up the car's dynamics when you can buy a non-Shit car and do whatever you want with it?
Liam Phillips
Show us where freedom touched you
Brandon Gutierrez
I had a good friend from highschool buy one of these in automatic as a graduation thing. Cock
Dominic Miller
Same here, his parents got him one in 04 for graduation.
Shit got keyed in the school parking lot the first week.
