What do you guy think of old retro style bikes? I think they look awesome, pic is of the mutt mongrel. It's got the guts of a 125 Suzuki but is made to look like an old 60s/70s English custom. I relly want to get one, what do you guys think of it? muttmotorcycles.com/mutt-mongrel/

Overpriced and will not ride very well, however that's no reason not to love it if it's what you want.

They are cheap as fuck and ride just fine
What the fuck?
The 125 is super slow and overweight.
Suzuki also makes a 250 and yamaha makes a 400?? I think.
Triumph makes 800s
Ducati makes something larger too.
All depends on what you want to use it for

This will be my first bike if I get it so the 125 is my only option for now, but I will keep that in mind for when I upgrade thanks :-)

Are you set on buying new?

xsr900 is a fast and decent handling bike
triumph thruxton r is an awesome bikeand has one of the best suspensions out right now in a retro bike with 120hp

18" front wheel on a 125

Triumph makes 900's. They used to make a 865's.

no, I'd actually prefer second hand because its cheaper and I'm probably going to knock it up pretty bad learning

Thanks for the correction. Was too lazy to look it up

Look at XL185s
Street legal, light, 16hp, very easy to learn on, can take a beating, overall fun bikes, and really cheap

Thanks but I live in England where the biggest bike I can get as my first bike is a 125, after two years I can upgrade up to a 500 then two years after that any bike (I think, this is off the top of my head)

Join CG125 master race. More people look at me on my CG than my CB500, my CB500 is spectacularly grotty though.

>tfw you'll never own a street legal dirtbike
>tfw you'll never cut through a park on your commute

>the guts of a 125 Suzuki
hahahahahaha shit. this is technically true, the factory that came out of is an OEM for some third-world suzukis and peugeots. dunno why you'd think this was a good thing.

if you really want that specific piece of chinese shit, buy straight from jinan qingqi instead of going to a rebrander like mutt or mash, save yourself two grand.

gwan OP , i am in a similiar position to you, britbong 125cc thing, was thinking about getting pic related as a first bike, but pretty much every person/review/anything has ever said is avoid and get a well known make.. shame because i think it looks dope..

I am really struggling to see the appeal of these motorcycles. For some reason, they have exploded in popularity over the last few months (particularly among redditors). I just don't get it. They are weak, underpowered, poorly made motorcycles that just look hip. What the fuck is the appeal. It's not a performance machine. It doesn't have the comfort of a cruiser. You can't do anything with it.

The closest thing I have seen worth getting is the BMW R Nine T or Yamaha's FJ800 or whatever the fuck those retards called it.

I personally am not looking for a powerhouse bike or even anything poetically fast or high performance as this will be my first bike and I will still be learning (slow will probably be better for me). As for the build quality, if I buy one new I will have a two-year warranty on it which is precisely how long I plan to keep it as I live in England and that is when I can upgrade to up to a 500cc so lasting a particularly long time isn't really a worry in my situation. And as for look, as I mentioned, I am from England and this style has strong roots in the culture that I guess has rubbed off on me a bit because when I saw this design and the aesthetic the matt black paint job gives the bike I really fell in love with it.

It's aesthetically pleasing to people who like shit like steampunk.

I think they look okay, but I don't own a bike at all and if I really wanted that look I'd just rip all the paneling off another good bike and spray paint it bronze or some shit.

I could even understand it if they were actually hand made but it's just a shitty frame wrapped around a cheap chink engine.

If you're going to get your first bike just buy a used bike you can bang up a lot.

I used to be obsessed with them. Then I realized there's no point in getting infatuated over the past when the bikes that exist today are superior in pretty much every respect.

Cuckold beta nu-male hipster shit just go back to Veeky Forums or /lgtb/ cuckboi

aww man! I can see why you would want that bike it looks so cool dude, and I have looked up some reviews for the mongrel and they have said it's a surprisingly smooth ride and a bit more nippy that they were expecting. Plus if a buy one new I get a two-year warrenty, which is how long I plan to keep it as that is then iI can upgrade to anything up to a 500cc. So I'm probably gonna get this one.
