Buy a hybrid, they said

Buy a hybrid, they said...

>he actually did it the absolute madman

Its not what you drive. Its how you drive.

Jesus. My Mazda 3 has better mileage than that.

>t. bill cosby

>286 miles on a full tank

End me.

Forgot my pic

Is it cold out where you are at? I'm doing some testing now on electric powertrains for marine applications and cold weather applications is an issue right now.

Buy a hybrid*

*make sure its new. don't buy a 5yr old hybrid with 70k miles like an idiot

It's a 2016 with 3000 miles on it. It's the worst car I've ever driven.

It's about 2c

>tfw 610 miles from a tank in my shitty old diesel

why do hybrids exist again?

Yeah, that's chilly. Lots of highway driving?

My shitbox can't go that far, consider yourself lucky

kek my 2500 dollar shitbox from 04 still gets 30 or more on the highway

Do you drive in second gear all the time?

Yes&No

>he didn't get a first gen Honda Insight

That's because you're retard and don't know how to drive it.

With a full tank (45 liters) at an average consumption of 21 km per liter I can drive for 945 km.

Also consider that Toyota/Lexus has this autistic habit do indicate the car's autonomy based on how much fuel there is until you reach the reserve. When that indicator reaches 0 miles and the reserve light pop up you have at least 7 liters more in the tank.

...

...

kek, fucking hybrid cucks.

>after a 700km trip with 3 people plus me in the car and boot filled to the brim
>450km always at a cruising speed of 130-150km/h
>50km WOT
>200km city

>5.8L/100kms
>41 us mpg

dieslel fiat

Indeed, I get 60mpg on a tank of gas on my non hybrid non turbo DD because of my type of driving.

Some people can actualy exceed 100mpg with conventional cars using pulse&glide with engine off coasting.

The simplest trick is using the brakes as rare as possible.

>Not buying a hybrid

>don't buy a 5yr old hybrid with 70k miles like an idiot

Friend bought 350kkm 2nd gen Prius with dead battery for next to nothing.

We pulled the pack out, found 3 dead cells, bought used cells from ebay for like $80 and it was back on the road.

>5,8L/100km
>diesel

Even my gas powered car gets about 4L/100km on average, when I was flooring it for a whole tank I got 7L/100km doing 170km/h most of the time.

I get around 8l/100km in average TDI, 11l in diesel Hilux, 9l in small gas Polo, 13.5l in gas Focus with AT trans and around 6.5l in Prius mk2.

EG Civic averaged respectable 8l, very good car for fuel economy.

Live in big euro city with horrible traffic.

Get a old Lupo 3l, it can get as low as 2,5L/100km on the Highway.
Only problem is, it only gets Euro3...

Nah man I'm not in that euro culture of saving every pfennig possible so I drive normal gas car. Would really not like my DD car to be diesel. I do have diesel truck tho.

Auch Deutscher?
As a Student I don´t have much of a choice...

holy shit that's awful lol

>9l in a Pololol
>13.5 in a Focus

How?

Croatia but we still use those old sayings with pfennigs.

Would not go for Lupo since 3cyl. Better look for mk1 Fabia SDI. Had fleet of those at work. Very reliable and cheap to run, still gets great mileage, nice to drive.

my 334k mile hardbody gets 25mpg and 400 miles per tank. how are you fucking up that bad?

If you like 4+ cylinder gas engines so much, why not use LPG?
It is much cheaper than gas, like 40cents/l compared to 1,30€/L for gas.

How should he drive it?

All you need is big city with traffic problems.

Have 24km daily commute that takes me almost 2 hours.

Most taxis here are 3 cyl turbo running on lpg.

As for diesels they're already bad with 4cyl, need ton of dampeners everywhere that wear out and don't last that long you can only imagine what kind of damping is required on 3cyl diesel in lupo.

How about a Toyota Aygo?
It may be a 3 cylinder gas engine, but it runns fine and needs verry little fuel.

I don't drive like a granny, friendo.

Neither do I.
But I don´t drive a Diesel Fiat.

I can't do more than 250 miles on a full tank.
LS1 life, I guess.

>tfw 500miles+
>with less than 10 gallons

1KR-FE is fuel efficiency champion.

But you'd have to drive an awful 3cyl.
So it balances out.

At least I can drive it at 100mph+

Aslo it sounds incredible good, especially for a 3 cylinder.

>Toyota Aygo
Had one of those for a week. Literally used it for just getting to work and back, 8 miles each way, I filled it the entire way from nearly empty twice, took it back with less fuel than it could actually indicate.

Fuck that.

It was actually a hire car just after my crash, so obviously I wasn't going to be trying to hammer the speed at all after that. So my that ruled out blame on my driving.

I get that in my manual 2.0 focus in traffic

The fuel gauge is indeed shit, but as long as you don´t stay in second gear driving 100km/h, you will get good fuel economy.
How do you do that?

Well the golden rule is that you don't have to use all the battery running exclusively in EV mode, many does this because they see 0 consumption but if the battery drains completely the ICE turns on to recharge the battery using fuel.

Plus there are other things you should learn, it's not complicated and you have to learn with use but definitely you have to modify some of your driving habits.

With the Yaris it's easy to have consumption > 22 km per liter for a novice and if you're experienced you can aim at 25 to 28 km per liter.

With the 2016 CT I have an average consumption of 21 km/l considering my usual roads and my record is of 24 km/l.

Just look for guides and tricks such as pulse & glide on YouTube, they're useful.

I can drive at over 120mph, what's your point?

>engine off coasting

This is some seriously dumb shit, you consume precisely zero fuel when coasting with the engine on above idle unless your car has carburetors
It's called "cut off"

Not on th road...
It slows your car down, wich means you have to pulse more, but EOC is a hardcore hypermiler techinique anyway.

>Not on th road...
That sounds like a challenge to me.

Pics or didn´t happen.

Prius c, how I miss that car

Coasting with a conventional car "costs" in terms of brake engine slowing down the car more than what it happens with glide.

With a hybrid you can glide with zero brake engine like if you're in neutral, with latest Toyota HSD4 you can glide also at 62 mph with engine off and above that speed the engine stays idle to keep the electric engines rpm low.

This thing is possible with latest car engaging specific drive modes such as BMW Eco drive Pro, the gearbox engages (virtually) the N position while coasting, but if you change drive mode when you lift off the foot from accelerator you have engine brake again.

>18mph avg speed

Why don't you just ride a fucking bike at that point?

Your mazda 3 regularly gets over 50mpg and sometimes even hits 100mpg?

>4L/100
>on a petrol
>doesn't drive like a granny
I'm calling bullshit.

Lol I got a manual swap and everything went better than expected thanks Veeky Forums

>40 gal tank vs 12 gal tank

>dropping to 2. gear entering highway
>taking corners fast

Yea, typically grannys style of driving.

The trick is not to use your brakes.

That's pretty good.

thats fucking worse than my ls1

the fuck?

>"fuel economy/regen" indicator instead of tacho
besides what model is it?

2nd gen prius is a great poorfag/second car now since they're so cheap to buy, have plenty of space for carrying shit if you need it and use fuck-all fuel

almost makes up for being so boring to drive

>24km
>2hrs
why not ride in on an ebike or something like that instead?

fuck sitting in that kinda traffic if it can be avoided

3cyl are the second best sounding engines after inline sixes

My car only has a range of about 300 miles, but that's because it only has a 9 gallon tank.

>The trick is not to use your brakes.
Like that would be possible on the city.
