Sticking to one nation will cause you to get one or two shit lines for every good line.

The latter. In my case my Minekaze (old) XP was transferred to Minekaze (new), though. This was probably an error, as if I was at Minekaze in the grind, I wouldn't have been able to use the XP to continue up the main line. I sent in a support ticket and they converted my Minekaze XP to free XP.

No. They stayed at whichever tier they were on. You also received a captain with a few points for each affected ship with a captain assigned to it (n.b.: one captain per ship, not one captain per captain).

They gave you free ships. If they were at the same tier as their replacement, you captain kept the specialisation for that tier. If they were moved down, you received a new captain with a few points.

Example: Fubuki (VIII) with Yoshimitsu Fujita becomes Kagero (VIII) with Yoshimitsu Fujita and Fubuki (VI) with New Guy (5 points)

I've been grinding on the NC for a while now and I'm starting to get tired of it. Is Iowa really worth it?

Iowa is way more frustrating than NC due to raised citadel, poor maneuverability, high tier gameplay.
Honestly, Iowa is probably better overall but NC is just more fun to play.

The Iowa is basically just the NC with better accuracy, more HP, faster speed, faster shell travel time and the shells are way less floaty.

You have probably learned from the NC to never show your side, so you probably won't have any problems playing T10 games.

Always spec for stealth. Use your speed to your advantage.

What I meant was that the Iowa seems to have better horizontal dispersion than the NC.

Plus, with the Accuracy Module, you can tighten up the Iowa's shell grouping even more.

The NC's more floaty shells seems to make the shell disperse wider the longer they stay in the air.

After almost 300 games in the NC and 144 games on the Iowa, you can observe it pretty well.
