There should be an import tax based on location of assembly/manufacture and whether the car has to be actually imported, rather than the car company's HQ. Encourage foreign companies to open manufacturing plants in the US and improve our economy, or pay a tax to sell their shit here.

The best he can do is 15% for 150 days and then congress must approve it. There are a couple of antiquated laws about emergencies or war time that he might invoke, but do you really think that bullshit would survive a court challenge?

If he wants to impose an import tax, congress must go along with it. The business sector has the republican party bought and paid for. Do you think they will let their paid-for stooges do this?

Naw, Trump doesn't work like that. He'll either go all in if it can make him look what he thinks is good or not at all. Since I don't see any way for him to "win" on those matters I expect no change at all unless somebody does something that requires a response and then I would expect something over-the-top to happen.
