more like what a bunch of bloat that should be removed

Just how low does your CHR need to be to sell it for 11 gold?

Also first

>Dungeon on the Everchanging
What the fuck did you say?
It's Dungeons of Everchange, ya dip.
One job...

4th for is a shield good on a DrFE or should I not bother unless I'm doing extended?

I copied that shit from the last OP.

Blame that guy.

equip buckler

It's Bullseye, but I'll look for a buckler. There's probably one in Orc or Lair.

a waste of exp extended or not

Unknown potion.

Let us remember when dorkgod nade wyrmic fucking BONKERS by failing basic math.

Off-by-one Kenobi

I was not around for that, elaborate.

Stupid question alert - I'm currently playing PCB 5.0.3, can I upgrade to 5.0.5 without it affecting my savefiles?

G-guys I'm literally shaking right now. What if they remove Regeneration?

Most probably yes.
You can just copy your save over and check, can't you
I mean
You can
So do it

Also anyone know what the changes are?

then the fire rises brother

Then maybe you will start playing real roguelikes

this

>drops nothing
I see.

Wraithform is basically amazing, especially against hit-to-earthquake monsters.

>remove regen
>remove food clock
I'd actually play it.

I noticed Dungeonmans is on sale on Steam. Anyone tried it? Good or nah?

>paying money for nocontent when you can get Crawl for free
but why?

i just found out you can study the same spell again in poschengband

What happens if you do?

it alarms the sharpshoot-

yeah wraithform is really nice
how are you getting wraith and stoneskin? Or are you not casting stone. I guess your hp is low and mana high, are you a regular 2-realm mage mage?

It increases your spell proficiency, which will reduce the mana cost and failure rate (not much, for that though).

If you're one of the mages, you'll get more spell levels that you need to learn all your spells (assuming you're not doing any realm swapping trickery), so you can spend some extras to immediately master your favorite spells.

If you're a rogue or something, I have no idea how many spell levels you have to spare.

Already played quite a lot.

Strange though that you argued for one specific game instead all the free games that are good (also played quite a lot of each that I know of).

>*bands
>*hacks
>nocontent
I'm not sure what you're trying to say, but I'm pretty sure you're wrong.

I'm a priest, which is mage but better if you are willing to take death as your primary realm.

this, but worth noting spells already increase in proficiency with use in the depths, so it's most useful to improve a recently acquired key spell. But yeah mages end the game with a billion unused spell slots (possibly useful if you swap secondary realms though, since [only] mages can do that)

eh maybe, certainly the melee and hp is better, and in the lategame priests come online in a pretty good way, but losing magey access to Eat Magic is actually a very big deal, since that ability alone basically more than triples your mana pool in the mid-lategame.

>pump shotgun and two sticks of dynamite on D:1

Feels good.

>blame previous OP
Fair enough. When the next OP copies the crap that you did not correct, then we will blame you.

>decide to get tileset version of Cata DDA, last time was when played the game first time
>decide to add sounds pack for first time ever
>that music
Legit spooked.

infra arcana music spoops me, haven't tried cdda yet

>>nocontent

I'm going to guess that roguelike. Tell me if I'm correct ok? Is it Sil?

He's not specifically talking about free games.

He's saying, "If you wanted a nocontent game, why wouldn't you get the premier nocontent game, Crawl, for free?"

you can already sell items in dcss?!
Are you serious?

No, you can't sell items.

What game? Looks fun.

I really love IA and I hope you are enjoying it too

I hate both IA and you and I hope you choke on a dick

lmao found the butthurt dcss/pcb babby
sad!

Theoretically unlimited resources are not a meme, you dip. Limited resources are the real meme, a meme repeated by thoughtless Crawl players with no sense of perspective on the genre.

Access to resources determines how you play a game: In Crawl, they're given to you, at random, throughout the dungeon. You might find a fuckawesome weapon on D4 that trivializes the rest of the game, or you might not. You might find 5 blink scrolls, you might not. It's a roll of the dice. It trivializes any sense of equipment progression, just like that other boardgame, Brogue.

But that would never happen in PCB, because PCB is about taking risks in deeper levels for better loot, not having the assurance that if you follow the exact same route each time, you're guaranteed a win provided you're not a fuckup. A weapon on D4 (or even D40) is never going to last until D100. There is actual incentive to play ambitiously, since deeper levels are guaranteed to drop better items. Having (theoretically) unlimited escape options is irrelevant, since you're 100 times more likely to find an enemy you can't defeat than in Crawl.

IA is suffering, but it's still fun.

Still, I really don't think I'd be playing it if it didn't have the satisfying sound effects. The shotgun and dynamite sounds are like little bursts of dopamine that keep me going through all the black mamba snake trap bullshit.

>PCB is about taking risks
Actually, PCB is about not taking any risks.

pcb is about 3 things:
crawl withdrawal
bloat
grind

I like both Incursion and stable games and I hope this Priest 3 Mage 2 Orc with maxed out Int/Wis/Cha (thank you fae) stops crashing every time I try to sleep.

yeah, just like how in Crawl you can find the orb in lair if you spend enough time there

>go up one floor
>sleep
>it doesn't crash
>try to go back down
>it crashes immediately
AAAAH

I'm using ChestHole soundpack, if you're interested.
Download, insert into data/sound folder, change soundpack in settings and then relaunch the game.

Finally got a MiBe win after my first three wins being non-Trog.

Man, maybe I just completely suck, but right around Vaults:5, Trog becomes completely useless.

* Burn Spellbooks: trash, plus inventory bloat.
* Berserk: strong, but ultimately garbage against Zot-level enemy patterns, where multiple fighting techniques (melee + range) and high movement/attack speed are always needed.
* Berserk bonus: even at high piety levels, the chance of getting more turns is still retardedly small.
* Trog's Hand: admittedly kind of useful, although you'll probably be MR+++ by the time you're doing Zot stuff. In any case, besides maybe Regen, it's not that helpful late game.
* Brothers in Arms: Absolute. Fucking. Garbage. Depths and Vaults:5 are literally the last places in the game where the summons are halfway useful -- after that, they're just too flimsy, even with a complete team via multiple BiA invokes.

* Gifts: useful if you haven't gotten a good antimagic weapon yet, although that's a bit unlikely.

I've said this before: MiBe, at least in current Crawl, is vastly overrated. While early and easy access to Berserk seems nice for noobs, late game gets quite difficult very quickly. Okawaru non-Slow/Exh buffs seem infinitely better even without summons, and TSO's 6* passives (rN+++, SeeInv, increased accuracy) along with his abilities (most powerful non-evil summons, increased shield, strong 2-3 square-range attack) make him probably the best melee god.

I think, overall, Trog might be nice if you want to get your feet wet: if you want to reach Lair for the first time and/or get your first runes. But once you're not outright terrible at surviving early Dungeon, you should _never_ play with Trog again.

>not dualwielding broken axes
What are you, some fucking casual?

Good OP.
I approve.

Typical game of IVAN:
>good drops
>pick them up
>kamikaze dorf comes and explodes you to death

>OK drops
>pick them up
>step on mine
>wands in your inventory explode and you die

>whatever drops
>something throws dorf nade at you
>mustard gas kills you even as you keep trying to heal it

>god gifts you allies
>something oneshots you from outside your vision

...

>step on mine
stopped reading right there

angband.oook.cz/forum/showthread.php?t=8223

that's poschengband

So you're saying there is a 100% guaranteed way to get permalevitation that doesn't require grinding your ass out for sumo fight?

>grinding
>for sumo
How are you even real

>not having a resist fire cloak+5/2 fire resist rings in gloomy cave
>not keeping your wands/grenades in a box
Fault

Not him, but I believe they removed most of the exploits.

>exploits
But what if it wasn't an exploit?

I don't think you can even move him from his house now. At least he didn't seem to react to bananas.

Maybe I really need to make a trail, but I can't be arsed.

>I don't think you can even move him from his house now.
I just tried it yesterday, user. Two bananas outside his house is enough.
Can you really not waste 2 (two) bananas to shitpost about ivan?

That's some decent gear to start GC1 with.

Oh shit, what do?

Are you using a recent version? Because it's in developments and they are fixing things like shopscumming.

Sure am. And they fixed shopscumming in 5.1 user, among other things.

Well, I guess I'll be scumming myself easy levitation belts in my future playthroughs.

You sure will.

>* Burn Spellbooks: trash, plus inventory bloat.

lmao git gud

>free conjure flame

I though artifacts were unique.

Also lycantrophy is the most annoying shit ever.

Keep them for dualwielding (and teleport everything away) or sell them for profit?

Today I learned that
A)monsters breathe through enemies who are immune to their breath
B) having no pips of Rpois is a very bad thing

Well shit, this is with heavy survivor suit, good thing I have Tough trait.
Next time I'll just use EMP grenade to neutralize all the remaining hacks.

>A)monsters breathe through enemies who are immune to their breath
Monsters also breathe through enemies who AREN'T immune to their breath, user.

If something is in LOS, even with a blocked line-of-fire, it can hit you with everything other than bolt spells and rockets

>killing defenseless monsters just to try and get you
How unfair!

if you summon shit, your friendly monsters will also friendly-fire each other

>get a pack of chaos hounds plus some random monsters
>the chaos hounds polymorph your other allies 15 times per turn from all their breaths

damnit user that's like the only way to mess up one of the grid/checker vault designs, besides failing to notice a spectral wyrm or other passwall danger

Why weren't you fighting in the bend of th corridor? Maximum fault

Gonna try ADOM for the first time, wish me luck lads.
I can't decide between Drakeling Merchant and MistElf Necromancer.

>a pack of berserking giants and trolls is weak
that is really really strong, you just have to learn how to manage your summons. If you summon your BiA between you and an orb of fire, then of course the orb is going to blow them all away with fireball in a few turns. But if you make the summons not between you and the OoF, then they don't get hit by the fire, and they start tearing that OoF in half.

git gud BiA is one of the best summoning abilities in the game

>Drakeling Merchant and MistElf Necromancer

Those combos are both pretty much hardmode.

ancardia.wikia.com/wiki/Classes

You should pick an "easy" class at first.

Well fug, i really liked the idea of either going full Smaug or full Sandro.
By the way, any means of taking a screenshot? They say the command is [, but i can't seem to get the picture or find it (prnt screen doesn't work)

Trog is retardedly strong, he's so strong that you can literally do dungeon -> depths without requiring exp or items from any other branches. There's no other god that can give that kind of raw power, except for maybe Chei.

>prnt screen doesn't work

Is your keyboard broken?

No, it simply shows ADOM as either windowed (with only the title tag showing) or black screen when i paste the prnt screen in paint.

>roguelike screenshot button
it's probably putting the text from the screen in your clipboard

ctrl-v somewhere

That's a lot of letters.

And it kills things good.

Your screenshots are probably either in Libraries\Pictures or C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\ADOM.

It's usually wherever your ADOM config folder is.

>Chaos AND Vamp AND Sharp AND Manabrand
>but only on a 2d5 weapon
life is suffering

regular falis is really good so this makes some sense. But regular falis is also rBase 4d6 slay *evil* and other things so....
still really nice statstick

What effects do slay and *slay* and the various brands have on the damage dice of a weapon? Is it just a flat bonus to each strike or does it multiply the dice or something esoteric?

It multiplies the dice.
Slay evil is x2
*slay* evil is x3
most slays and brands are x3
*slay* dragon/undead/etc is x5

the game just picks the best applicable slay/brand rather than applying all of them, except sharpness/mana which both stack multiplicatively with other shit

for exacties read in the help files (use ? ingame) but it's a multiplier to base dice. Thus, the very best weapons tend to be ones with large base dice, good general slays (like *evil*), extra attacks, and generally best with fewer larger dice than more smaller dice (e.g. 1d30 is better than 30d1 because wearing vilya would turn them into 4d30 and 33d1 respectively)

Chaos brands choose different brands each time (weighted towards ones the target does not resist), it's not a brand of chaos damage. Vampirism drains life from drainable (generally, this means living) opponents based primarily on the damage dealt.

Sharpness and *Sharpness* each work with an exploding die roll that can keep increasing the damage, so theoretically they could do an arbitrarily large amount of damage in any given blow. In practice regular vorpal increases damage by around 22% (and is accounted for in your charsheet), vorpal_2 is better but I'm not sure what the average damage increase is.

Poison maxes out at 900. So, yeah.

Or was it 600? Still, way too nasty to go around unresisted.
