Why is this surprising? It's been an established fact that electric motors are great for 0-60 times due to instant torque.
The reason this doesn't matter is the masses have no use for this. Once a major manufacturer gets serious about electric Tesla is going to get blown the fuck out. This is what happens in business, the bigger you are the harder it is to follow the trends but once you start you have all the R&D money to throw at the trend until you beat out all the competition.
