I really thought the same about other games, but at the end NV got a 2-1 result. Even if I do lean towards fnatic, it's still not an absolute sure win.

How do you rank up if you keep getting matched with teams of lower ranks?
I only get to play comp like 3 times a week, but every time, I'm stuck playing with nova 3-4s and mg1's, and rarely an MGE

I've won around 17 games and lost 5 (silver-tier nova 3 are always on my team, and sometimes I just can't carry hard enough; 16-13 is still a loss), it seems the elo required to get past MG1 is enormous.

Should I play casual and try woo some higher level players into lobbying with me?

You can't know that, because elo isn't visible to players, and you have no idea how it works.

I've won a lot of games, and I'm probably on the verge of ranking up, it's just been very, very slow.

I think I have a grasp on the concept of elo, friendo. Valve matchmaking is probably sticking me in purgatory, because I live far away from the nearest server. The other people my rank all get shuttled into lobbies of 5 ping. There's more to matchmaking than elo.
