Slayer to 99 and Firemaking are both fruitless endeavours even within the confines of the game. At least PCing your combats to 99 takes like 3 hours tops, 99 Slayer takes about 2 years and doesn't do anything in excess of 7mil exp

-You get the best looking skillcape in the game at 99 Slayer
-The same cape is proof of maxing one of the slowest skills to train
-You make mad dosh along the way depending on what you kill

This. If you're gonna be killing shit for profits anyway you might as well get extra exp in another skill as you do it. Think of Slayer like an extra-hard Hitpoints.

This too. The only "top tier" is having every skill at least 90+ or being maxed out completely.

Crafting, herb, smithing and RC are at least respectable and some produce cash is why they're good 99s, maxed slayer just means you spent time rolling. You can grind for drops without a task.

Once you hit the aforementioned softcaps of those skills there's no higher potential for profit, only showing the achievement of 99ing them. And even then, Smithing and Herblore are hardly ever profitable no matter what, Crafting is mostly an alch fodder skill, and RC is too slow to be economically viable so this "profits>skill levels" meme needs to die.

I never said profits > skill levels. Those skills happen to net you exp while producing profitable materials with them, AND they are respectable. Slayer shows dedication to spending a bunch of time rolling tasks, nothing else. It is for sure the same tier as firemaking and agility. There is NO reason to 99 them.
