If I understand DnD alignments correctly, Lawful is about following the law, or otherwise whatever's considered right or socially acceptable. Neutral is about following your own conscience even if it isn't considered right.

Lawful Good means he would be doing everything by the book. Chaotic Good is the better fit since a vigilante does things for a good purpose, but may go beyond the limits of laws to achieve these goals if necessary.
