Downloading the game for the first time after a friends recommendation and was curious about the PvP Scene and how bad or good it is pertaining to griefing.

I'm a fucking care-bear, pussified PvE player and I'm not big on PvP especially not World PvP where you get ganked countless times, had that problem back in WoW trying to level in STV.

What's it like and is there anyway to avoid it at all?

Even on double xp weekends I've never ran into too much trouble with PKers at the popular end game spots.

Yeah I somehow managed to get 57 without killing myself but I'm done grinding forever now. I just do comfy lifeskilling and world bosses now and it's fun.

It's not as bad as people itt will make it seem. There's a lot of anti-social faggots playing this game and they'll leave you alone most of the time unless you try to grind in a few commonly contested areas. Even if you do come across a pker there's plenty of other areas to grind when you're around level 56+ as long as you've 160~ AP.

You shouldn't miss out on the combat in this game just because some user tells you to cancel. The combat is top tier.

Well, its kinda comfy in here. Tho there's a 30 feet long shark near me what is kinda scaring me.

It took a long time but I just went straight north west from Port Euphoria. There were lots of sharks that almost killed my boat but you're actually able to outrun them without taking any hits if by just going straight forward in one direcetion for a while. If you accidentally got really close to one, or god forbid just fucking hit it with your boat, it will hit you a few times but if you just keep going and hold shift and W you should be okay. The boats (Probably pirates) aren't really anything to worry about as I just steered clear of them and they didn't chase me or didn't chase me much either one.

If you see ANY splashing in the water in the distance then turn the fuck away from them because it's always a shark. If you have to go in the opposite direction just to make sure you don't get near one then do it. Don't take any chances.

I feel like playing Wind Waker so many times gave me the seafaring experience I needed to make it without dying.

Tons of lore but the actual story is utter shit until you get to Mediah/Valencia

the main story is not very interesting but there are tons of side quests with quite fun/interesting but usually very short and self-contained storylines

Well I'm not 100% sure either but I can tell that autopathing in a boat feels slower than usual so if it's anything like horses I assume it does help. It might just be me and it doesn't work but I'm doing it anyway just for the placebo effect as I pray for the shark not to kill me.
I wasn't keeping track but I'd say about an hour. I was probably just as scared and just kept going without stopping. In game, it took from about 6 PM to probably 4-6 AM, not sure how long that is in real time since night is faster.

Finished the magoria questline. Literally nothing else to do here, there's an invisible wall right next to port ratt. Underwater gathering is also completely pointless, nothing unless you want the new coral accessories but they are garbage and cost 50m for +0 just for the manos.

Lore is kinda entertaining, but i don't think it's told well. I feel like i get most of the lore from just observing the world.

The story is awfully generic, and hard to follow because you level up so fast that the main quests start overlapping and sometimes you do them out of order accidentally, and then it eventually just sort of ends around level 50, and then i don't think if there's even another story because up until 56 it doesn't seem like i've gotten another story, just random quests.

Why the fuck are they able to get away with two literal pay to swim cash shop suits and leave the swimming so fucking horrible? I don't get it. Why the fuck do they think anyone wants to do that shit. This is probably the only thing I think is actually pay to win and it makes me mad. It's a lot more than convenience as the current boats are actually worse than the cash shop suits and swimming regularly is so unbearable. Not to mention it takes like a half a month to be able to craft one of the new boats so most people will either need to spend hours traveling to the new area to do 5 quests or just ignore ALL of the content for the half of a month. Why?
