Bump

Guess this is why that rich faggot dumped all his stocks a while back. Europe was the only reason GM stopped making dull loaves of bread and shoebox cars.

RIP GM

>nothing of value was lost
Their only interesting car was the ampera/volt and they already pulled that one

FUCCCC GM

The Phrases "General Menace" and "finger of death" would make a great theme for a classic hard rock song by Guns'n'Roses or something.

hey, the Adam is a decent Chick car. Bothe the Opel Adam compact and the Mokka crossover SUV saw good sales figures.

But desu I'd rather have Opel not be in the hands of GM anymore; they were only held back by shitty Megacorp cancer.

haha, they can fuck right off

But what cars will they rebadge as Buicks in the future? Their garbage American Chevrolet models? Are we full circle back to the '90s when every GM model could be had from any GM brand and they were milking themselves into the ground?

>selling your entire yurop division when they are about to start making money

Remember, GM will literally suck ALL of Opel's blood (literally every patents) from them before leaving the lifeless hull for Peugeot to buy.

Opel was about to get sold several times and every fucking time GM couldn't fucking stop with their patent faggotry.

The fucking cancer ruined Opel over decades.

their idiocy and rampage knows no bounds.

Get a better adblocker, tard.

Why?
Every site that complains isn't even worth caring about.

They will probably share architecture for some time to come.
Fiat still uses GM derived platforms for some models (including the Jeep Renegade).

Opel/Vauxhall/Holden 90s fan here this is pretty sad desu.

Why do GM succ outside of us?

muh chevy
muh corvette

sounds like Saturn and Pontiac

This desu.

Not like I was ever going to buy a vauxhall again.

French manufacturers are trying too hard to be 'cool' and 'with it'. Rubber bumpers so you don't get scratches from your shitty parking, wi-fi, and now 'integrated video cameras to upload to social media'.

as they did with saab...

HAHAHAHAHAH

>Remember, GM will literally suck ALL of Opel's blood (literally every patents) from them
>implying there is anything to suck in the first place
Opel/vauxhall has been the laughing stock of Europe for 40 years now, all they have done is make the official cars of the lower classes.

Its a clear sign Europe is a shithole and they cant sell their autos there. Pooropeans have this obsession with buying German luxury cars because " quality". What a bunch of tards. Europe a dead end for autos anyways. Its a place full of 20 year Peugeots and run down ladas and other assorted trash

So can wie finally have the Manta again?

Eurocucks are sore losers that have high import tariffs so it's not profitable for American manufacturers to export to Europe.

Enjoy your lack of competition and stagnation.

Also socialist yuropoors can't afford cars. Why sell to a bunch of peasants anyway.

t. the United States of BIG THREE

Also you completely missed the topic. GM aren't exporting to Europe, they're building in Europe. And by that I mean Europeans are building in Europe and GM are sacking the profits.

>forbes.com/sites/bertelschmitt/2017/02/14/gm-considering-withdrawal-from-eu-sale-of-opel-to-peugeot-reports-say/

>sold to Peugeot
cool, now where all those middle executives will get their entry-level luxobarge (aka insignia OPC)

Peugeot makes no-power assmovers

>implying there is anything to suck in the first place
small gas engines (

>this is what burgers unironically believe
The only thing american cars have going for them in the USA is that they are cheaper than their german competitors and bigger than their japanese competitors.
Everywhere else, the import costs make them too expensive to be interesting since similarly-priced alternatives will be of much better quality.
For fuck's sake it should tell you something that the only american brand that does well outside of north-America is Buick thanks to locally-built and designed cars tailor-made for the chinese market.

inb4 claims of ONLY THE AMERICAN MARKET MATTERS ANYWAY

I can say the same thing about foreign car companies in America sacking the profits.

Difference is german cars here aren't up marked because of tariffs. Still no one buys them because they are expensive, unreliable, inferior products.

Did you see the audi commercial, these krauts are trying to push their subversive ideologies here. Keep that shit in your country.

>opels are built in america and exported to yurop

>bigger than their japanese competitors

Oh no, Toyota makes good full-sized cars too. The Avalon is a very plush car for the price, but the Impala is the best non-sports-car/SUV that GM makes and they can be had for insanely cheap prices as fleet vehicles, hence why it's more popular here.

>Still no one buys them because they are expensive, unreliable, inferior products.

Is that why BMW, Benz, and Audi have outsold all domestic luxury brands by gigantic margins since time immemorial?

>these krauts are trying to push their subversive ideologies here
>(((krauts)))

If the French are clever, they buy Opel and reform it to become "their" BMW.

Despite what Veeky Forums thinks normies all over the world still get wet by terms like "German car" or "German engineering.

Get them to produce some German performance cars overseen by Peugeot but engineered in Germany that are on one hand something new because Opel wasn't that much of a player as brand in the world market but on the other hand something traditional since Opel has been around for ages and if they release a GT or even MANTA the shit would be lit.

who cares euroshit is irrelevant

Mohamed and achmeds can't afford to buy new cars anyways

>these krauts are trying to push their subversive ideologies here. Keep that shit in your country.

Yeah because those bosses, decision makers and overall people responsible for all this are totally "krauts"

Ah yes, the meme of Americans being able to afford things.

>Malibu - 227,881
>Impala - 97,006
>Camry - 388,618
Camry outsells Malibu and Impala combined
GM is dead and buried

>no one buys them because they are expensive, unreliable, inferior products
I guess that's why Mercedes and BMW both outsell their american competitors in luxury saloon (both have more than twide the sales of Cadillac, and let's not even talk about Lincoln).
Main reason why they are not better grounded in the american market is that they do not develop models for that market. they managed to take over that one spot but they haven't tried to, for instance, tap into pick-up trucks like the japanese have. And I'd say that's their loss really.
>Did you see the audi commercial
Made by the american branch of Audi, for american TV. Never aired in Europe, was never intended to. You have no one to blame for that but your country and how it allowed that sort of bulshit platform to prosper based on lies and wishful thinking.
>they buy Opel and reform it to become "their" BMW.
Impossible.
BMW have brand recognition more than anything, which allows them to get away with some pretty sub-par stuff every now and then. Opel/Vauxhall has decades of stigma and very negative image behind them. Hell their best bet is to use it to churn out some crapy stuff to little production cost. if they want to have "their BMW" then it would be less risky to revive names like Simca or Panhard, and that should tell you something.

> Opel/Vauxhall has decades of stigma and very negative image behind them. Hell their best bet is to use it to churn out some crapy stuff to little production cost

now you've said it. they should be sold to GE. with their r&d quality would improve dramatically, along with efficiency.

>Did you see the audi commercial, these krauts are trying to push their subversive ideologies here. Keep that shit in your country

america is literally the source of PC garbage

>america is literally the source of PC garbage

>being this ignorant

>but they haven't tried to, for instance, tap into pick-up trucks

soon™

I honestly think it's too late for them at this point. Their brand image is established already and it will be hard to pierce into a market that is possibly as far as possible as the one they currently have in their pocket.

they'll rebadge chinese models

I'd much rather be seen in a Clio than a Corsa

>Opel and reform it to become "their" BMW.
it would be cool if they managed to release decent "hot" cars, but there is no way they would be able to rebrand it as a 'luxury' brand

>nothing of value was lost
except 90% of GM's R&D

>where all those middle executives will get their entry-level luxobarge (aka insignia OPC)
Where do you live that the Insignia is considered an entry-level luxobarge? Here they'd prefer a base model Audi or BMW to a Vauxhall of any kind.

>Still no one buys them
Mercedes sells over 20 thousand cars a month in the US. I doubt all american brands combined sell that many cars in europe in a year.

Insignias seem quite nice inside, although I haven't seen a base spec one.

And base spec audis and bmws are horrid

t. higher spec bmw owner

What about Ford?
This is UK btw

base spec insignia is disgusting

Found an ES on ebay, nothing fancy but doesn't look bad for over 100k miles.

Seats look a bit unsupportive though.

It doesn't matter how nice they are inside. Audis and BMWs have the right badge on the front. An absolute base spec Audi is nearly £25k, which gets you a mid to high spec Insignia and yet middle manger types would still take the Audi.

>Euro/UK Ford
>having anything to do with american ford

lmao

>weebtard has no idea what he's talking about

typical

Ford Europe is a German brand at this point desu. Not even memeing.

>integrated video cameras to upload to social media
Please tell me you're kidding?

citroen.co.uk/new-cars-and-vans/citroen-range/citroen-c3#TECHNOLOGICAL_INTELLIGENCE

yes and no
I heard an advert on the radio for it this morning and they were advertising it as an integrated dashcam that can upload it to your insurer as soon as you crash

but later in the day there was also an advert about sharing it on facebook or something

youtube.com/watch?v=uHNDlSh7wWw

>insurance premium intensifies

Wow. Another feature that will be looked at as "so 201X" in 10 or 20 years' time. Not to mention the app wil most likely be bona fide abandonware and the camera thus utterly useless by the time those cars hit the used market. When will manufacturers learn that gimmicks do not help them sell products?

The Chinese market is the only thing keeping Buick alive.

Opel and Vauxel and Holden will be fine, they'll be bought up by some other company.

But chevy and Buick are fucked.

Cadillac will be scooped up in no time.

F-150 best selling truck in murica for decades now. Mustang flys off lots. Fusion flys off lots.

Yeah Ford is fine. They aren't going anywhere.

Other people call them dashcams

Lol chevy can stay alive by truck sales in America alone.

EXPLAIN WHY FORD ARE SO FUCKING HUGE IN EUROPE LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

>dumb americunt doesn't realize the only good fords are euro fords
>mongoloid burgercuck doesnt realize that ford europe ==/== shitty american garbage ford

keep whacking to that cuck porn and signing up for those mandatory college feminism 101 classes, ameriscum

Other than to allow you to upload one video to facebook the first day you lease the car, the main point is it is a dash cam for accidents.

Might have something to do with the Fords selling well in Europe being designed and build specifically for the european market.
f-150 and Mustangs aren't increasing their sales here. Just sayin'

Nice try, but I don't think you used the word "cuck" or spliced "american" with some other unimaginative insult enough times to really convice me.

Also might help if you wipe the semen out of your eyes long enough to realize that european fords are literally the exact same cars

Are the recordings stored to an SD card or something like that?

Because if it relies on some cloud infrastructure bullshit to get the video to its destination, you just KNOW that won't work anymore in five years, tops.
For me, cars and all their components are supposed to be a product, not a service.

Nigger a lot of Ford cars in Europe over the last few decades have had common platforms with American cars, just very different body panels.

Underneath the territories' cars were quite often identical. Czech yourself before you Shrek yourself, faggot.

Reminder that the "Mondeo" is literally just a rebadged American market Fusion, which itself is built off the MKZ. I'm failing to see how that is German at all.

They like to re-invent themselves. It could work.

Also, look at this fuck.
This was the original A-Class and at some point they decided to say fuck it and turned it into

...this and it sells like hot cake

europe here. trump should put the same tariffs on our manufactures importing to the US that we do on US cars coming here. even it out.

I wanted to like the A class, I really did.

The one that was like an inbetween of the old style and the new was good. It was boxier. they never sold it in the US.

Isn't Opel one of the main sources of R&D for GM? Like, don't pretty much all their FWD cars use Opel platforms?
It'd be incredibly stupid to sell Opel off, since it'd pretty much ruin their econobox R&D capabilities.

>incredibly stupid
>GM
pick two

overall i'm worried about opel joining the PSA group since peugeot and opel basically have the exact same market, but it's probably still better than being part of GM

Yeah, PSA already consists of two brands occupying basically the same market slot, don't know if it'd be a smart move to add a third.

Then again, PSA has plenty of experience in said market so who knows, maybe they'll do some cool shit. At least we're not talking late 2000s PSA here.

this will sell alot in the US and Mexico

they're going for the chinese market

currently GM sells more cars in China than in the united states and europe combined

Mercedes are too noble to lower themselves to building dogshit image trucks. They'd rather build actual utility vehicles.

China loves Buicks, and Buick's lineup contains a lot of rebadged Opels. Not just Opel platforms, no, straight up Opel rebadges.

...

>For fuck's sake it should tell you something that the only american brand that does well outside of north-America is Buick

thats a wierd way to spell ford

Except for all significant Ford models on the global market being European developed.

>i'm worried about opel joining the PSA group since peugeot and opel basically have the exact same market

one guess of mine.. I think they might use Opel to reach markets peugeot isn't available yet. so maybe the madmen actually go to the us or china with them.

but the real question is how much GM will leave in there before selling opel.
if they keep all the good shit, for what fucking purpose would peugeot want them. the good shit is the only interesting part, like development bureaus, patents etc but I doubt GM will just hand them over, that's unlikely as fuck.

man, what if they actually start selling opel to the chinese by straight up telling them, you know these buicks you love so much? here's the original. enjoy this german engineering, xoxo PSA

but yeah, a fleeced opel may actually face the danger of folding, and their main markets including germany wouldn't accept rebranded peugeots, especially not since they gained so much more traction as a brand over the last few years with some actually good cars

> start selling opel to the chinese
That's actually pretty likely. They already have factories in China, Citroën is doing pretty well there so...

I'm a die hard GM fan but holy shit niggers what have you been doing the past 13+ years. Oldsmobile, Saturn, Pontiac, Hummer (good riddance), Holden at the end of this year, and now Opel.

All of this happening, by the way, while GM unveils "Avenir," a new sub-brand of Buick, the mouth that sucks ChYNA's dick.

Basically short of the Camaro, Corvette, CTS-V, and SS which I'm assuming will be axed, GM doesn't give a fuck about us burgers anymore.

>GM doesn't give a fuck about us burgers anymore
Been 10 years in the making. Sad, really

>Camaro, Corvette, CTS-V, and SS which I'm assuming will be axed

The only one being axed is the SS because its on the outdated Zeta platform.

So either you've never been in Europe or only in the far east of Europe which is a shithole either way.
