On the one hand, it's cool they're giving the HD treatment to old sets. On the other, I almost play exclusively warlock and I never got the hype around Malefic and the oversized horns. I can only ever think of the characters having to turn sideways to walk through normal doors and that triggers my tism.

Bonus rolls should be 1 a week but you will always get an item from that boss

Not familliar with the warrior hall myself, but once you hit level 102 you will have a quest giver somewhere in your hall. It should be the only, or one of a few, orange exclamation marks in your order hall.
When you hit 102 you can consecutively unlock both remaining artifacts.

Protip: it forces you to be in the spec of the artifact, which is a pain unless you've already found out that there's a vendor in every class hall that will sell you a basic green rarity weapon pretty much for this exact purpose; in addition to other things that become relevant at level 110.

I stopped playing in late september. I was in a shitter guild with terrible players, and I only got to around 850 ilvl / AP 4.

Obviously with that kind of track record I'm no mythic raider, but would it be possible for me to catch up enough to join a heroic raiding guild? I understand that AP and rep would be the main hurdles.

Heroic Nighthold is a joke and it's going to be around for at least 6 months if we're being honest. If a /wowg/ guild can clear it week 1, I'm sure you can do it in a few starting from scratch.
