>What the fuck are you bitching about now?

I've ignored it for a few years already, not stopping now

Can you explain to a Lexus owner what this symbol means?

>immediately pull over
>connect phone and diagnose
>nothing serious? Drive home
>Something serious? Call AAA
>My daily? Tow to mechanic
>My truck? Coin toss
>S13? Time to sit in the garage for months

...

You think you'd know by now...

>check code
>clear code
>???
Profit

my Toyota Pickup's CEL's been on for almost a year now, and I know what it is. Fucking shop monkey didn't weld in a rear o2 sensor bung when I sent it in to get a new muffler put on, so he just crammed it in the frame. Had to disconnect the front o2 sensor so the truck would stop leaning out and bogging down when I hit the gas. I'll fix it eventually. I'm more concerned about the frame rust.

>this and the car is OBD1

jokes on you my car doesn't have a CEL

just read the flash code you mong

>Fixed

Some obd1 cars have flash codes. It varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, but it usually involves jumping pins on the Code reader port.

>OBD1
how fucking old is your car

My car doesn't have obd.
Flying by the seat of my pants here with a multimeter and a scope.

How the fuck do you connect your phone

> Driving home one night
> CEL comes on
> "I'll scan it when I get home"
> Get home, grab scanner
> Code is gone
Idk how I feel about this

I have had mine on for 4 years and thousandths of miles now, I don't give one ounce of a fuck.

I too have an s13, but no gauge cluster means no cel, all you need is a tach and a boost gauge

As a new lexus owner, I want this to be accurate

>Connect OBDII bluetooth scanner
>P0421 again
>Clear fault codes from phone
>Disconnect OBDII scanner

;^)

>failed emission test the first time due to CEL
>CEL turns off on my way to work one morning
>Quickly get retested after work
>pass
>CEL comes back on as I'm pulling out of the parking lot

Not the first time this has happened to me

Initial Down's

Freeze frame should have the code and the conditions under which the code was set. Might also be called history or stored codes.

Not having a scanner that can see stored CELS

mfw dream car is 1987 GN
OBD1 is the thing of nightmares for me

>get check engine after screaming at WOT in gutless shitbox on highway
>check with reader when I get home
>Car didn't warm up in time
>u fooken wot m8
>confirm suspicious that temperature gauge is a lieing fuckwad and cannot be trusted.
>delete code
>hasn't come back

Ive had one for my maf sensor for about 15k miles now

Tfw lighting strikes your engine

>Borrow work ute
>Brake/handbrake warning comes on every time I brake
>Glow plug light flickers on and off, all the time

Transmission is beyond mint, idle is rock solid and pulls super clean to redline. Fucking gremlins, man.

>having an engine

>when your car doesnt have a "check engine" light

Bluetooth OBD2 adapter

>call mechanic friend
>ask him to turn it off
>quickly offload car for a cheaper rate to some desperate scrub who NEEDS to own a semi-collectible "Dude circumstances have changed I really a quick sale dude the car's been so good to me she's fine"
>"awesome, I'll take it."

>cel comes on
>P0420
>replace rear 02
>code goes away
>comes back on 1 week later
>cat is clogging
>replace cat with test pipe
>live with cel

I don't live in an emissions state and mazda can suck my balls if they think I'm paying $1200 for another cat.

>mfw country so bad that if the check engine light ISN'T on there is something really fucked up.
Ah yes, Dominican Republic. The land of the abused corollas and chevy novas

My s13 has broken in a variety of ways over the years, never once seen the CEL come on other than when I'm starting the car.

At this point I'm fairly confident I could throw a rod and not get a CEL

...

>airbag light lights
>ENGINE WORKSHOP flashes while the ecu beeps at me
>glowplug light comes on intermittently with no pattern
>central lock locks all the door and then unlocks left rear passenger door

It's the patented veedub reliability.

Friend of mine used to have a Saab 900 turbo that would randomly decide what electronics you got everytime you started the car.

What was consistent though was unlocking the doors anytime you have the all closed

>didn't weld in o2 sensor bung
>sent truck in for muffler replacement
You literally could have just bought a new oem exhaust and replaced it yourself instead of paying a shop for a muffler replacement lmfao

Ive had it on for months already. Its a 2001 camry whats the point

>implying i give a shit about my boring german econobox
please make it die so I can get a miata already

My CEL has been on for so long now, I forget it's not normal for it to be on kek

>actually owning a GM product

Yeah, I wouldn't know, either

normally i just go and tighten up the gas cap. this is how you fix a toyota.
