No idea. I only had the car for 2 weeks at the time of it getting fucked up, and only my friends knew I had it. I have a few guesses that my friends suggested:

this definitely happened to me before around new years 2013. i also live in a decent neighborhood mostly inhabited by the elderly. all they did was brake my passenger window though and open my glove compartment (which i keep nothing in).

My car is a cheap shitbox though so they weren't exactly going to get anything out of braking into it.

I found and used my own exporter and took care of the rest myself. It was easy and I'd recommend it to anyone in BC.

My previous car, and my car now have a lot of damage just from sitting in parking lots. I've never seen anyone committing such damage to any vehicles, so it seems strange.

They had enough time to do it. So that means they were in the spot for at least a minute instead of a car passing by for 30 seconds or less. Thus there should be ping in the geo-location database from either their car or their phones.

The insurance company might have a list of preferred service providers that if used, the insurance covers all the repair minus the deductible. But if you choose someone not on the list, then if it exceeds 5000 CDN, you have to pay the difference.

That's because police officers have careers, and spending case time on a car vandalism doesn't yield much career points. So they usually write those off and write up enough case info to satisfy the insurance company's need to get a police report before paying to fix the car.
