Literally why would you feel the need to steer with the drive tires.

An equivalent RWD car will weigh less and have way less understeer under throttle on corner exits.

AWD is only better at acceleration in a racing application where you have so much power you're overwhelming the grip of your rear tires, so basically drag racing.
