>Sleek classics on a dime from the VW / Audi / Porsche trio edition
It's that time again, European citizens! Post your cars, talk about your trips, discuss potential meets, etc. Most of us around here are from the EU but just about everyone from the European geographical zone is invited, including Ruskis and Brexiters.
Keep in mind that this general is still relatively young (the first thread was earlier this week, iirc?) and therefore hasn't gained all that much traction yet, so please be patient since it might take a while for frequent posters to settle in.
This is probably the only one in the country, should I go for it? The description vaguely claims that "the documentation is in order but the mechanic isn't", which might imply anything from not having passed the latest inspection to not running at all.
Also, on a side note, why the fuck is it so hard to find info on this particular Skyline model, or about any 1980s Skylines in general? I would like to know exactly how rare these are and where in the family they fit in.
Thomas Roberts
r30 skyline with the ca18e. its basically a nissan laurel
Joseph Turner
So it's not all that remarkable of a find, I guess? :/
Gavin Gutierrez
>tfw your favourite and best 90's luxobarge is super fast, super reliable and amazingly good looking >tfw it's also massively undesirable >tfw this makes for super cheap prices >tfw endless cheap supply of my super secret luxobarges You faggots wish you knew.
Daniel Walker
they can still skid
Isaiah Campbell
go away grandpa no one likes your lexus
Carter Adams
>lexus >good looking lmao
Benjamin Rodriguez
I mean, I'm not even a Lexus fag, but looking good is one of the main reasons as to why they're so appealing for grandpas.
Joseph Anderson
A Cedric or Gloria?
Daniel Miller
/o i'm wondering if you could help me, i want to buy an audi a3 96-99 but im worried because i heard that it's suspention break around 60k km is it true or from which year of manifacture is it avoidable? Bad eng sorry.
Lincoln Morales
>Carro com documentos em ordem mas sem a mecânica.
Maior, sem mecânica quer dizer que não tem motor.
>A fucking engineless Skyline
Jack Diaz
it's a nice looking car, but no GTR it has 90hp to 1200kg which imo is decent to get around, if you can push it to 120hp I think you'll have a bunch of fun with it
I'd buy it for that kind of cash and try and upgrade the engine desu
Carson Martinez
okay my bad, I didn't see the first picture in the ad
the car is probably fucked up but if you can work on it, I think it's a nice looking car
Leo Robinson
I take it you don't know how engine swaps work in Portugal. Like I said above, when you see "the car has no mechanics" it's a way to lure in idiots, no offense, by twisting the words around "the car has no fucking engine".
Now, on paper, swaps here are straight up illegal, even if it's the same engine. What everyone does is swap engines that look like the old ones, they won't bother checking. If they are different, things get interesting. First you need to provide a fully detailed report of your project to: the car's brand representative, the IMTT (our DMV), and an independent auto engineer. You'll need approval from all 3. And if by some miracle you get the approval, then things get fucked up: if there is a displacement increase, you have to pay the remainder of the tax, AS IF IT WAS A NEW CAR. Most give up at this point, I even personally know someone who did. Was building a Mitsubishi Colt GTI replica out of a 1.3 shell, for the increase to 1.8 he was asked to pay...7500€. Yes, seven thousand five hundred. Then after that, and the swap done, you need to take it to a 200€ extra inspection.
Brayden Wright
first picture in the ad is some random photo i think the other photos seem realistic
oh wow
Isaiah Edwards
Oh, and I forgot to say that the 3 initial approvals round up to around 500€
Jason Murphy
>still not just giving up and joining Brit/o/ We already have your cutest trap. Accept the balmy confines of Empire and praise the Emperor.
Jordan Green
Why would we, britain is not europe
Brandon Nelson
Why don't you guys come to Ultimate Street Car with the Brit/o/ boyz?
Nolan Martinez
It's just a Golf so parts should be cheap.
Unless you made a typo and mean the A4, which is as good as identical to the 5th gen Passat in the front.
Easton Sullivan
Daily reminder Brit/o/ have a larger presence in Europe than you
Ian Sullivan
what do you guys think about r19? ive found some diesel ones with low km. It looks well maintained. So?
Aaron Davis
toyota owners club has bigger presence in britain than brit/o/. You should disband.
Carson Sanders
Why do you want one?
Gabriel Nelson
mostly commute, some long distance trips now and then
Benjamin Carter
Idunno, get it if you like it.
Liam Robinson
i'll prob get it, parts are quite cheap actually its growing on me
Xavier Kelly
We are the Toyota owners club, cockend
Christopher Flores
doesn't that thing have a van engine
Juan Thomas
Toyota Traps Europe aka Brit/o/ aka the Empire
Samuel Reyes
Its true im a euro trap and am detained by a group of english brutes. Pls come to USC and try to win me back by being cool and hanging out!
Logan Martin
So I've been looking for >rear wheel drive >manual >150+ hp >coupe >less than 20 years old out of curiosity and there's literally nothing within my budget that isn't a BMW or Mercedes, I have to go pretty high in price to find ANYTHING other than those two. Do they seriously have such a monopoly?
Nathaniel Rogers
>so I've been looking for a BMW You didn't state price range either
Aiden Smith
Thank you
Thomas Parker
i'd love to come and hang with brit/o/, I might even come by car to uk this summer. t.NWe
Isaiah Martin
miata mr2 vulva
Asher Rivera
any balts here wanna do summer meets and go to opentrack?
Gavin Harris
I started from the bottom and kept going until found something else which was twice over my budget anyway.
I don't really want a convertible.
There's a single lovely 1990 MR2 available for like 2.5k euro though, I'd get it in a heartbeat if I was buying right now and not just doing market research.
Andrew Powell
get an sw20 then. It's more special, has insane handling compared to bmw's due to being midship and you'll be cool as fuck for driving a dangerous car and more popular since the mr2 is more cute and non threatening when compared to mercs and beemers
Worst of all, it's illegal to do an engine swap in Portugal, so this thing is basically just a well polished carcass.
Ethan Green
You can, if you follow my handy guide at , and are ready to cough up a few thousand € just to legalize
Just absolutely and completely fuck this country
Luke Jenkins
At least it's a nice candidate for importing to a country with less restrictive laws, I suppose.
James Gomez
Fuck it, I'm not going to pay over 7500 merkels just to get an engine installed on that. The car looks really good regardless and I will be forwarding the the ad to a friend who's into racing and could probably turn it into a track day car but the amount of anti-Veeky Forums laws in this country still baffles me.
I might move to Spain in the upcoming years but the advertisement will eventually be gone since then.
Jack Foster
My uncle has one, they still hold up pretty well for commuting. Might be worth getting one in good condition for ~1k.
Juan Brooks
Yup, but it's pretty good regardless. The European version is even blessed with not having 1/3rd of the HP cut down like the American one.
Lucas Perry
Spain isn't that much better honestly. Most of our laws are copied from them, such as the fuckretarded one that you need written authorization from the manufacturer if you want another tyre size in your car. Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but afaik we're the only 2 countries in the world that do this.
Caleb Ward
My parents have resident status in Spain and they say that car laws over there are far less restrictive. At the very least car prices are much cheaper, I've been looking for a Porsche 944 lately and, while you can easily find a decent one for less than 5k over there, it's basically impossible to get a properly maintained one for less than 10k in Portugal. Hopefully buying a car in Spain and driving it in Portugal while having Spanish residence doesn't bother the cops too much, otherwise I'll scream for MUH SCHENGEN AGREEMENT when bothered.
So yeah, fuck our countries but fuck mine in particular.
Xavier Harris
Also, desu you only get the tax if the displacement increases. Will still be close to 1k€ just to legalize though. You could also check which engine it had, then put one visually identical. As I've said, they will not check the block's serial number, and as long as it doesn't go ham on emissions you're gucci. I'm planning that on my Opel, the C14SE engine it has needs a rebuild, but I might take the chance to swap in a C16SE, it's literally the same engine with a different bore and travel.
Luis Smith
Were the 1980s the golden years of Porsche?
>924S/944, praised as the best handling car for its time >928, perhaps the coolest-looking car for its time >930, possibly the best 911 ever made >959, easily the single coolest supercar ever seen
Sure, they're still an incredibly strong presence today with an inhumane amount of LeMans victories and all, but they were basically shitting groundbreaking cars back then.
Jaxon Rodriguez
>all this discussion about Euro laws but no one actually posting their current DDs Show 'em.
Noah Collins
Because it isn't a DD anymore. My new job is close enough that I don't need to drive to it now. Plan is to repair and restomod, learning to wrench and weld as I go.
Eli Collins
>restomod a corsa Wow just die already
Isaiah Gomez
just deleted my pic but a rav4 that gets beaten round track and touge
Lincoln Howard
...
Jason Wilson
me n my bro at his house lmao
Isaac Ramirez
I'll bite. Why? Any reason other than
>he takes care of a car I don't like REEEEEEE
Nolan Gonzalez
Literally the worst car ever made, least desirable car ever made, cheapest car ever made. Why would you restomod this unholy trinity
Nathaniel Price
you better fucking delete that comment, kiddo.
Daniel Lee
So it really is
>he takes care of a car I don't like REEEEEEE
Parker Lee
How are you "restoring" a car that young anyway. How can it possibly need "restoring"
Anthony Myers
>1993 was 24 years ago
As this age any car will have parts that need some tlc. Rust that needs welded plates, engine wear, etc. It's best to take care of it and maintain now than let it develop into a mess. Pic related, this was on a 1990 BX GTi.
Ayden Torres
...
Camden Hall
Holy fuck, just let user enjoy his Corsa. I've had one and they're decent compacts with great durability, there's no reason to hate them.
Landon Reed
:'( Should be back up and running soon though, engine and tranny still work
928 and 951, the best automotive duo ever. R.I.P to my 951. at least i still got the 928
Kayden Nguyen
Are you the blue 928 user from /pog/? If so, I'm jelly af for you, the 928 is one of my dream cars. It's easily one of the most beautiful designs ever made imho.
Night Wave Europe has allready almost 10 members in mainland europe. Reminder to all euros to join for meets and car bantz!
Hunter Bennett
You have had literally 0 meets. You don't even have a resident mechanic to work on your members cars and teach them to work on their cars. You don't run in a race series. You don't have a members holiday happening this year. You don't have the cutest traps. Just join Brit/o/, the established source of euro meets.
Leo Lewis
Post a throwaway email if you want to join Brit/o/ slack chat or just come along to USC, all are welcome to camp and banter with us. Racing optional.
Jace Ward
we have our own race track and have plans to run opentrack in balt and local lemons. We also don't shitpost in brit/o/ threads.
Elijah White
also you have 1 euro member which is less than the amount of meets NW has had.
Joshua Peterson
Are yellow vehicles a meme
William Hill
I really want a jellow kar. Idk why but yellow/orange best kar kolour
>smart if she hates driving then she may should if she has some joy left in her life and she can't laugh about how ridiculously shit it is, don't buy a smart. at least not an old one, do not know about this gen of Smart.
ironic shitposting image related.
Lincoln Sullivan
She doesn't like driving, just like most women, she gets very nervous when she has to drive. She doesn't live in a big city, so I don't know if smart is right for her. But in the end it's her money, so idk.
