The mistake here is that people actually refer to Bard and Machinist as "Support" as though that's what their archetype is, rather than calling them Ranged or Shooter DPS.

There is no Support role in this game, varying utility is distributed amongst the jobs we have.

At best the only thing unique Bards and Machinists bring to the table is Mage's Ballad, Army's Paeon, and Promotion. And even then, Goad from Ninja acts as single target TP regeneration for a party member, and I'd bet money Red Mage gets some manner of party or targeted MP Refresh.

Yes, but it'll be on a 5m cooldown. They're gonna get cool positional slashes to heal, and a guaranteed crit heal for a backstab on a 60s cooldown. Please look forward to helping people by stabbing them
