What would cause a car made in '94 to pump four times the limit of CO2? It's not the catalytic converter.

timing

Low compression

Timing, plugs, fuel pressure... basically anything related to A/F ratio, high co2 means you're running rich

What's the typical cost of getting another engine dropped into my car? My 1993 Celica GT had some oil leaking right around the alternator. Car was cranking afterwards but now isn't cranking over at all. As far as I can tell my engine is pretty much done. I hate having car payments and this car has run great for 2 years for me. I kind of just don't want to part with it.

'preciate it. gonna check these out now.

>fwd v8

I'm new to cars and picked up a 95 ford escort shitbox yesterday. The power steering fluid is in very bad shape apparently (black and sorta thick) Can someone give me a rundown on what I would have to do to drain and replace the fluid?

>200hp for $1,600 :^)

get the Haynes manual. all the answers you seek are contained within.

I have a Chilton repair manual for it that I have yet to look through, whats the differences between them?

I think my radio is causing parasitic battery drain. A night of sitting, and the battery is near dead. 2 nights, and I get 0 action from the battery, needs jumped.

The radio is new and I had it professionally installed. Is it 100% the installation, or radio? There anything I can do? I can push a button on the radio to pop it slightly out of the din, that kills all power to the radio, but that fucking sucks.

More importantly 300lb/ft of torque

>Chilton
eh, that will do.

Haynes manuals are legit retard tier simple and aimed at the owner/operator, Chiltons are made for techs.

>'94
>carbed

Whats the deal with these? Are they any good, hows the maintenance on them? They're cheap as fuck in my country and the parts are too. Fun to drive?

I just suck mine out with a long straw. Then refill it

Anyone know if pic related will mix with FL22 coolant?
Or at least the ingrediants?
Been searching forever

Coolant is literally just water with green food coloring. It'll mix

No

...

Nice.
I was searching on mobile and it doesnt show that info in mobile view.
Thank you.

>Thinks it's carbed
It's fucking labeled Port Fuel Injection on the engine you mong.

>I don't know what carbs are: The post

they aight. beware fiat build quality tho

You trying to troll??

Click compatibility dumbass

>bait

See

If your radio doesn't turn 100% of the way off when the car is off then it wasn't installed correctly. The memory isn't going to be enough to drain your battery.

We all know you don't know what a carb is.

What is it then? Tell me, I'm dying to know

has anyone used DIY tire patch kits? results?
will it last 1k miles?

My mother-in-law's boyfriend uses these all the time. As far as I can tell he's had no issues.

Personally I just go to the used tire shop, or a junk yard if I can't afford the $60 for walmart specials

Ive done them a million times
If done right they will last a long time. Eventually they will let air by though.

I'm converting my cars rear drum brakes to disc brakes should I remove the proportioning valve? Other people that have done it didn't remove the valve and don't have a problem but I don't know if this could be a problem in the future

>should I remove the proportioning valve
No. It's there for a reason.

Yes. Worked fine until I just decided to get new tires 2000km later

The proportioning valve is designed for drum brakes tho

See, when I was looking into swapping to rear discs I remember reading that you want one still.

You very well could be right. I will admit that I don't actually know for sure, just what I've read.

So in theory, the car is off, key is out, but I can turn the radio on, 100% usable. Hooked up wrong, correct?

>not converting to drums all around

Correct. They put both the constant and the accessory wires from the radio to the car's constant.

The Miata has a proportion valve and it's all disc brakes. Not sure if that's good or not, but that's how it came from the factory.

I might have to replace it with the valve from the higher trim version of my car that came with disc brakes since I do want to eventually take it to a track

bumping for this user in the midst of shitposts

A good rule of thumb here is if there is one made for that application then you should probably use it.

thanks br/o/s, you've been extremely helpful at quieting my fears

I usually do a patch as well, but this just sprung up before i had to take an emergency roadtrip and I couldn't wait 3 hours for a patch
my last patch took 4 hours, for reference
my bumfuck is so nowhere that our wallyword don't do tires and used tire jews charge $40-60 for singles with less than 50% tread left and the above fuckery
/blog
>done right
i threw it in a dunk tank afterwards and no air came out, am I gud?
>only waited 20 minutes for rubber cement cure
am i already dead? how long should I wait?
this is good news

FUCKING GEEK SQUAD

What car?

You need the proportioning valve from the model that came with all wheel disc, do not use your factory one.

>he doesn't know his battery is dead
>time for a new engine!
I thought you were bait

>alternator leaking oil
replace the gasket and the alternator, charge the battery
>alternative: try to have alternator rebuilt
>need decent engine electrical shop

>engine is toast
do a compression test, it's probably not

>The stuff about Walmart and such
I'm incredibly sorry to hear that, user. I'm not saying Walmart is the go-to place or anything, but it's a great convenience

>FUCKING GEEK SQUAD
Exactly. At least you can prove it wasn't hooked up right and get it corrected for free.

>What car?
You know, I thought about asking this too.

>need decent engine electrical shop
Ehhhhhh, not necessarily true. You CAN do it yourself.

It's a 4th Gen Accord doing the rear disc swap then will be converting front and back to five lug with Acura RL brakes up front

Grab the valve from the Acura I guess?

I guess I'll be the first to do this combo hopefully all goes well

You need the proportioning valve AND master cylinder from a 4th gen Accord EX that came with all wheel disc.

I figured thanks for the info

Think I can replace the fuel filter and the rear o2 sensor on my shitbox myself? No experience really with cars. Been trying to learn and have the Haynes manual. Car is a 97 ford probe gt. Trying to clear some codes and generally get it to run better the fuel filter says it should have been replaced at 60k miles its at 72k and everything is still stock. the rear o2 sensor is related to CEL code that comes on.

yes
rent a sensor socket

Yes you can

Audi A3 or Volvo S60 for entry-level luxury sport sedan?

Subaru bros help me out. Planning on building a turbo EJ22 Stroker. EJ223 Block, EJ22T pistons, Forged rods with a 79mm Crank, and EJ205 Heads, with a TD04 Turbo.

Question is, Stand alone ECU, or jimmy rig a WRX wiring harness into it? What have your experiences been with the two?

s60, not a VAG product and T5 has better exhaust note
>also safety or whatever

I know the only way to learn to drive manual is practice but bear with me
when shifting up do I release the throttle, keep it as it is or ease up a bit?
t. automatic driver

I release, then add some gas as I go into gear and release the clutch.

rev match
less clutch wear
youtube.com/watch?v=FnXLZg_O1rk
>about rev matching, but good info for shifting in general

>rev matching when going up a gear
UMMMM user?

Ok I think Im knowledgeable enough to know that rev matching wont help me going up
then I again I could be entirely wrong because I dont drive manual, correct me If I am

I may have been drinking copiously and missed the upshift part
my bad, do dis >pic upload failed
and i'm in estonia apparently

all good thanks
thanks to you as well

Smog laws have changed the "limit" in order to get you to buy something new.

>implying there isn't a base, minimum and maximum value for every specific vehicle

OP, run some laquer thinner through your vehicle
youtube.com/watch?v=5icTmYItwiE
>sirens in b/g
hood life

there is, and in cuckfornia at least the maximum ppm emissions for older vehicles is being decreased in order to phase those cars out.

>implying i don't live in commiefornia
no, there isn't a floating limit
sorry u can't pass ur bi-annual emissions test poorfag
t. non- retest county

CO2 or Carbon dioxide is used as a monitor gas for emission testing.

Excessively high CO or carbon monoxide is an indicator of a rich condition.

High NOx nitrous oxides are found in lean mixtures.

At the correct air and fuel ratio for gasoline engine engines, CO2 will be at its highest concentration and with CO, Hydrocarbons at their lowest.

If the reading of Carbon Dioxide CO2 is greater than 16% of the sample volume, something is wrong. Check the test equipment.

Other than that maybe the idle needs to be adjusted?

>If the reading of Carbon Dioxide CO2 is greater than 16% of the sample volume, something is wrong. Check the test equipment
this, go to a new smog shop
go in the morning
go on a rainy day

>try to have alternator rebuilt
Lol why spend money to rebuild an alternator when getting a good junkyard alternator with a 90 day warranty is 25 bucks?

>mfw rebuilds at my local eng/mech shop are $20
>for anything
>alternators, starters, a/c compressors, whatevs
why u no throw bones to ur engine electrical guys?

Asking from old thread

1982 5.0L Ford EFI.

cycle key until fuel pump buzzes

fires right up

dies shortly after

wut do?

If it dies its probably not getting gas or air to keep it going. Those are good places to start

How do you guys with multiple cars deal with insurance? I plan to have a daily and a for fun one. Obviously the daily will see a decent bit more use than the for fun, so i dont want to pay for a month of insurance on it just to only drive it for a day or two. Is there a way around this? I cant be the only one who doesnt want to waste money like that

/k/ here, help me id this car. It's a Honda, but has no markings.

5th gen Honda Prelude

My brother has a 96 Jeep xj, he got new batteries for his key fob, key fob no longer works.

He needs to take it to a dealership, right? It doesn't start without the key fob, so he's kinda fucked right?

A trip that has never seen a Honda Prelude before?

Is this why we ignore them majority of the time?

>/k/ here

So having owned my E46 BMW for a couple of weeks now, I noticed a little green light on the steering column, halfway between the steering wheel and the dashboard. I went through the manual, and there was no info about it. It doesn't seem to indicate anything, as it always stays on when the engine's on, and as far as I know, there are no aftermarket security systems in the car. In case anyone here's got an E46, does yours have that too? What is it's purpose? Or is this some aftermarket bullshit left behind by the previous owner.

my friend bought a .22 1911 model how hard am I allowed to laugh at him?

not even a gun fag.

Very, very hard. Also, you're allowed to call him a fag at least twice and ask if he's getting ready for squirrel season.

You just tell them you don't drive it that often and they quote it appropriately. That's how progressive works anyway

Hold on, why wouldn't a 96 start without the keyfob?

Doesn't it taste gross

Later in that model year, the key fob thing was updated to prevent theft. Doesn't start without the unlock

Really? Dont think any of the compaines ive had have had something like that. All i know of that is close to what i wanted is USAA's garage insurance or whatever where you only pay like $10 a month if you get deployed. Ill look into progressive tho, thanks senpai

Complete opinion question:

Is it lame to set yourself up to launch when the traffic light turns green?

Nice Celica. Take care of it.

If you're doing a street race, no. Otherwise, yes, especially if you're commuting to work and trying to make it into 2fast2furious.

Before we move on I have one more question: Does it crank at all?

Yeah, I know Progressive at least has business, commute, and pleasure as options. I'd always considered quoting my other cars differently but decided it wasn't worth insuring them at all in the end.

Hey man, I'm just trying to liven up the commute a bit
