Tons of people drive without insurance in Toronto, Don't think you are alone. Almost every immigrant driving a shitty old Toyota corolla is driving on a license from another country with no insurance.

Just keep in mind if you hit someone or in any way injure them, you are fucked

It's not the police you worry about, its someone suing you for all you own

i wouldn't do it

i keep old shitty vehicles as a hobby in the gta and even though i have a couple nice ones, including a jdm.. cops will pull you over and invent reasons if they think you can't afford insurance by the look of you

example i got pulled over on labor day because my old 2 stroke was smoking

also how do you plan on registering it?

even if someone hits me and im uninsured, im fucked. cops will definitely show up to a serious collision.

ye, was thinking about registration too. dunno.

traffic cops in the gta go all out on public holidays and only on public holidays. dont know why. possibly the only time u'll get a ticket going 20 above.

Not saying I haven't done this from time to time, but it's a disaster waiting to happen. You WILL get into a fender bender with an Audi S6 and be paying some collection agency half your paycheck for years. Or even if a crash is not your fault you'll still be fucked. Plus it's a stressful way to live, especially if you drive that much.

If you can't afford insurance you can't afford a car. Take the bus. 60 miles a day is a bitch but it CAN be done.

don't buy another car then you fucking idiot

show me on the doll where the uninsured driver touched you...

>implying a bus is cheaper than a car

no, i'm saying you will be targeted

the only time i've ever been pulled over is when i've been doing something fishy (switching plates, driving without a license etc.)

being convicted of anything in this arena could have cost me my career, but i was young and stupid and didn't care

my saving grace is that i'm white and female and i was raised by cops so i know how to talk myself out of things, how about you?

Switch your 'nicer' car/truck to fire/theft only, register/plate/insure the beater...

The amount it would cost you simply if you get pulled over with no insurance is simply staggering now...your basic insurance rate would rise by a minimum of $5000/yr...

And that young Padawan, is simply too much...

insurance is a scam and to protect their elaborate scam its now illegal not to have insurance

:^(

The fine for first offense is 5k, then 10k then 15k and so on... that's if they pull you over before some Durka or Dindo runs into you. So your answer is no, it is not a good idea. Also don't forget that all GTA police forces and OPP have cars set up with plate readers. All they need to do is drive by you, or you drive by them and the reader will pop up a big red screen telling them you are not insured. You can tell these cars by the old car audio amp looking things mounted on the roof.

You can actually get a fairly large insurance discount for having more than one car. It's not like you'll be paying double. You insure your nice car as a secondary car that is like a weekend toy or something, and the shitty car as a daily driver. You might only end up paying a tiny bit more, or even less if you've got a clean record, seriously, don't do the uninsured thing unless you can help it, it just takes one time for you to get fucked for life.

of course it is, in Toronto of all places where you pay $200-$400 a month of insurance depending on which part of the metro you're in

whether the price you pay is worth the suffering of going through the Toronto metro's shitty public transport (both downtown and the fucking suburbs) is another matter.

1 fucking hour to bus 15km. Fuck that even if it's only $6 per round trip. I'll pay the jew insurance rates instead.

i'm a chunky pajeet who's caught in his rich parents' safety net.
who's been in 5 collisions since i started driving a year ago. 2 were my fault.
one speeding ticket (which got thrown out), even tho i speed all the time. all the fucking time. i just cannot bear going at the speed limit. 80 in a 60 zone. 120 to 140 on the 401. i only drive carefully on roads that i kno are speed traps.
also. dont kno how to talk to cops for shit. the one time i got pulled over for speeding, he kept hinting at me to take it to court cus he wudnt be there. didnt realize it at the time.

Don't live in a cucked country, im pretty sure in NZ we don't have to have insurance all it means is that you will be liable when you crash into Mohammad's 2017 Merc

fukk. never knew that. so thats wat that other poster was talking about....when he was getting stopped for bs reasons.

Buy a radar detector. A decent one is only $150. Haven't been surprised by cops even once in BC since I got mine.

>crossing major bridge
>limit 50 because fuck you
>going 80 because fuck them
>"BEEP BEEP BEEP"
>"X ALERT"
>slow to 50
>go over small overpass after bridge
>cop hiding on parallel side road on right, ready to pounce at merge point
>mfw looking back at that cop

>mfw Veeky Forums keeps giving me 'upload failed'

I fucking hate cops in BC. It's like they have nothing else to do. The worst is the island. Fucking 90 roads everywhere with lights in middle of highway.

Takes u like an hr to get through fucking nanaimoo outskirts. Wtf is that gay shit.

Nways. BK to Toronto.
If u get another shit box you WILL be pulled over for "smoking", "lights out", "excessive muffler noise" , etc. Cops know u prolly being a lil faggot and don't have ur papers. If u get a nice car w plates that have no issues, u prolly won't b pulled over. But that's 10-15k+.

So, I'd recommend you get a shit box for ur work and just fire/theft or completely take off the other car. Can't drive it. But saving money.

Also. Insurance for me is 150 full coverage on an FRS w a 1k deductible. So I Donno. If u can't afford 150-170$ a month...

Learn to spell. Fucking retard.

Buy me a keyboard u leftist POS. We swap at Pacific Mall.

Yo. Down boy. Why exactly did u link the rules? Besides being a complete moron that is.

why don't you want insurance?

how expensive can it be for a damn shitbox

unless you are under 25 and live int he UK, insurance shouldn't be a problem for you.

>It's not the police you worry about, its someone suing you for all you own
Hit and run after removing the dashcam and cellphone footage. Before I graduated from university, there was an accident. The ones at fault took away the dashcam footage so there was no proof. So it became a no proof situation and the ones at fault didn't have to pay.

Fucking Ontario, got quoted $1900 a year for insurance.

Sounds like you need to buy your self a bicycle.

anyone use a radar detector in toronto/GTA?

do our pigs use anti detectors? I'm really considering getting one. The amount of fucking speed traps in north york is crazy

Some states had laws against the use of radar detectors to avoid police monitoring.

As other guy said, radar detectors are illegal in Ontario. But that doesn't mean u can't use one. As long as u don't get caught.

Also. As a cheap solution. Use Waze. I haven't seen a single speed trap that wasn't recorded in over a year.

Justsayin

Waze is owned by google now. It could become the connectivity source for a google version of Uber/Lyft eventually.

tdlr; jews own us

>Waze is owned by google
That was way back in 2013 whether users of Waze knew or not. But Waze is yet another example of Warren Buffett type investment synergy. Berkshire Hathaway often makes invested companies work with others in the group. Google does the same.

Waze Carpool has been successful and is expanding in foreign countries as the way to get a carpool ride. So it's a bit different from Uber. Another plus is that carpooling is more compatible with self-driving cars than the Uber method. If you're a Waze user in the suburbs, nothing wrong with picking up 2 or 3 passengers on your way to the downtown core.

Mass transit buses will be the ones suffering layoffs once this method gets going. And good riddance with their huge cost overruns to the taxpayers and huge pension and benefit costs packages.

anyone heard of toronto/peel/etc police using anti radar? or is that just the OPP mostly

what detector do you recommend?
>select all squares with street signs

holy shit a female on Veeky Forums, are you a trap?

you need radar AND LIDAR laser jammer for those hidden fuckers with the handheld guns

>i can't afford the insurance for another car. wat do?
Tell your insurance company that you want to switch to a different car (shitbox). Then put your good car in the garage and just start it every now and then. Keep its battery charged up by checking every 2 weeks and topping it off. My friend with the corvette does this each winter. He garages it and tells the insurance company to take it off for a certain time period.

>Tons of people drive without insurance in Toronto

And they're all hit and run since they don't dare get caught when they have no insurance. If they know you video recorded them, they'd have to come beat you up and take away your dashcam and smartphone evidence.

>i can't afford the insurance for another car. wat do?
If that is a sincere statement, then insure one car at a time. Understand the terms of switching insurance between cars and when the insurance becomes active. Most policies allow coverage of a rental car (which obviously is not yours). But ask about incidental use of a 2nd car. If that is allowed such as one day per month, then insure your car you are driving 29 days per month and then drive the other one no more than one or two days per month and you'll be covered. But read the policy carefully. What the agent tells you might be different from the fine print. If confused, ask for clarification of the fine print. That is why an agent exists because under the law, they are supposed to explain your policy to you.

Can confirm, live in Australia, have no insurance. I don't know if I should get any though, jic.

>tfw $90/month insurance in the Gta
It helps that it's a 10yr old subaru wagon.

>how expensive can it be for a damn shitbox
Mine changed from $80/month for the old shitbox to become $140/month when I changed to a different shitbox.

The rates can also reflect how many people in the area are making fraudulent claims. It's why I don't like seeing those threads about how to fool the insurance company on a claim. When basically everyone does that, my rates go up and up and up.

>Tons of people drive without insurance in Toronto
Same in the USA. My area is full of uninsured or even illegal immigrant mexican drivers. It's always hit and run.

One of those mexicans almost hit my parked car at the supermarket. Careless asshole drivers. His truck's metal bumpers already had scrape marks on the corners. He missed my car by 4 inches while swinging into the spot with high speed. If he had scraped my doors and fender, he would have hit and run for sure. All those scrape marks prove it because if he hadn't hit and run for all the marks, he'd not be able to afford driving due to rates or ban.

Everyone likes making money. It's just that most companies are soul less greedy ghouls.

>cops will definitely show up to a serious collision.
Just make sure to rush over to their car and yank their dashcam footage. If it is built into their car, look up their owner manual quickly on your phone and get the procedure to delete files on it. Then rush over and delete it fast before they can stop you.

>The fine for first offense is 5k, then 10k then 15k and so on... that's if they pull you over before some Durka or Dindo runs into you.

I wish the USA had laws like that to give incentive for drivers to have insurance before driving. I wonder why such stricter laws don't exist in our states because all we have are slap on the wrist small fines in my state.
