problem I have with this is that if you look at the image of her "reinforcement" it clearly has a lip and sits inside of a frame. It can't go on top of a another reinforcement as there is no room or mounting point.

It seems much more likely to me that her gadget is 2 or 3 "window reinforcements" that sit either in a window frame or a hatch frame(doors are unlikely) and provides the strength of a regular reinforcement with the ability to see through it.
