Great concept and lore. Shit execution and insufferable main character that later gets easier to tolerate.
Some people don't like its pacing (too many cooking events apparently), but I don't mind that. Read it for a couple of hours and if you don't care about it, drop it.
Some will tell you to finish Fate route first before deciding, but I don't think it makes much of a difference. And falling for the "it gets good after 20 hours meme" can be very annoying.

The anime removed a small Gil flashback that explained his motivations and why he loves Saber so much, because the director felt it clashed with the rest of the scene.
It also very much changed Saber and Berserker's final fight, removing a nod to Saber Alter and changing the way it finished.
I think there also were a few differences in the talk between Kerry and the grail.
